I just listen to it and love the song!! :) But now that you mentioned it, I kinda think it's like an author writes a fiction novel. (S)he doesn't write a novel from his perspective but from the narrator's perspective. I think that she's using this fictitious story plot of a boy's life and his perspective of the scenario to express her feelings of a similar situation, kinda like she did with Adrian. This is just my idea. If anyone disagrees, by all means state your opinion :) Seth Fulmer A.K.A. Hi Rebecca, A lot of people wonder things like this about Jewel's songs. Most of her songs are not auto-biographical, meaning that although they may be about real life, they're not about Jewel. It is different that she doesn't even make them sound like it's about her, but that makes it more honest to me anyway. I(Shashank) joined the list about 3 weeks ago, Jewel is the first artist of who I like everything they have done. I'm 15(seems like a lot of the newbies are), live in Liverpoll,NY. Moved around a lot(Chicago, Fairfax(VA), Bronks, NewWark, Napppervill(IL), 3 places in Asia. I love music, writting, sports, every and anything, as long as it isn't above insanity level. I love all kinds of music( Fiona,SM,Puff D., WC and the F.allstars,Garth Brooks, DM's Band, Ben Folds Five, The Doors....) Although I thought last year's LF was great, I'm happy there will be a more devrseity in the prefromers(Missy E. and maybe Garbage). Hope you're all having a great day. If you want to talk, just e-mail me. I'm also on the Fiona and SM mailing lists. - -Somewhere I heard that Jewel will be playing a guitar and singhing at the NA at the supperbowl? It would be odd if she played the guitar, don't you thing? Sorry to post again~ I remember in 8th grade(I'm currently in 9th) I was at school early in the morning and one of my friends was listening to Jewel. Well, my friend said that her mother had heard the song "Adrian" when she was thirteen, that would have been about 20 years ago. O was just curious if there was another song that might have sounded like Adrian or what's the deal? thanks Clearwater ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 00:17:03 EST From: KNicky3116 Subject: Rolling Stone Appearance Hello angels! Rolling Stone magazine did a reader's poll not too long ago, and the results are in the new issue with Fiona Apple on the cover. Jewel won sexiest female artist, and she came in second for best female performer. I may have left something out, but you should look for it. There is also a picture of her in that section. Just thought you might be interested..... Nicole the angel on horseback ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 00:35:57 EST From: MAXMOUZE Subject: Re: Perspective on Boy Needs Bike. Jewel wrote "A Boy Needs A Bike" after listening to Bruce Springstein's "Nebraska" album. She probably was inspired from his songs about being a boy, and wrote one in the same tone. I've done that...like I read a book in the First Person and then when I stop reading for a long time, I will walk around the house and write in the First Person in my head. DID THAT MAKE SENSE?!?!?!
