I am always willing to help with questions, or adopt people - as I said, just because the official AAN program run by Rachel is no longer in service, doesn't mean that adoptions can't still take place. So if anyone is looking to be adopted, please let me know, and we will talk ad work out the details! I hope to hear from you all soon! take care, Brandee " the wounded angel" Brandee_Villaluz@bc.sympatico.ca ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Dec 1997 20:16:07 -0500 (EST) From: Joseph Chou Subject: Jewel's career plans (Mr. BB?) Hi, everyone, I can't believe I'm posting again, but I have a question that I can't get out of my mind ... so here it goes does anyone know Jewel's plan for the future?? I'm just wondering because it seems to me that she's signing up for too many things at the same time ... new album, autobiography, poetry, movie ... tours, lilith fair, plus now that she's famous, she'll need to go to many social functions (award shows ... etc). I mean each of these (album, books and movie) will take a huge amount of time ... I don't believe I recall anyone doing all these in the same year ... I guess what I'm saying is that I'm afraid that she will end up with no time for song writing (which is what I love most about her, I have to admit that I haven't had the good fortune to see her live though). I mean to write good lyrics (also books, poems ... etc), you not only need to spend a lot of time writing, you also need a lot of time observing and thinking about the world and its people ... like what she did when living in Alaska and in the van ... etc I hope Jewel and her management have considered carefully about her future ... I'm really looking forward to a long and fruitful journey with her music, and I'd really hate to see anything getting in the way ... First off, I want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season - so Happy Haunakah and Merry Christmas, as well as wish everyone a great New Year! I hope that this holiday and new year brings happiness, love, and success to eveyone now and always! Ok. I wanted to express my sadness and disappointment over the AAN program being cancelled (if that's the right word). I think that it was a wonderful program and think that it was really too bad that there was not much support for it. I've adopted around 8 people (or offered to adopt, some didn't want to be adopted after all) and have a few adoptees now. I think that it's a great way for new people to the list to get to know their way around, have someone to ask questions to, rather than asking them to the list, then getting flamed or reprimanded from other list members for asking something that should have already been known, etc. It's a much less embarassing way to ask questions that you may see as stupid, you can be corrected gently by one rather than harshly by many. There are also a lot of people that are on the list, and post about wanting to get angelfood. This can be another "sore" spot for veteran list members, as they know to go to the angelfood pages for getting tapes, or already have a network in place for trading/getting new tapes. With adopted parents, new members can get their collections started, and can get networks and knowledge of how to get tapes without having to post to the list. I've found that many new list members don't know about the tape trading circles and lists (I think that there are 3 right now?), and this is a way for them to learn about them. I'm a member of all of the trading circles as well, so always tell people loking for tapes to check them. I really have to say that it is too bad that the AAN program had to end, and I want to commend Rachel for all of the hard work and dedication that she put into it, as well as thank her for all her effort and time spent trying to help new list members both get aquainted to the list as well as meet more seasoned list members, most often forming friendships as well. I would strongly encourage everyone to try and help new members, especially as there is no longer anywhere for them to go to get a helping hard to get started. It doens't take up a lot of your time, and it really is nice getting to meet and help others feel welcome to the list. Perhaps sometime in the future, there will be enough interest to open up and start the program again. Until then, I would really encourage people to"adopt" new members on their own. I've done that too, and it works out just fine! I hope that everyone has a healthy, happy, and safe holiday season! Appreciate each day as it is, and don't take anything for granted! I know that there are a few of our angels that aren't well, and I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers, as I hope everyone will - it is very difficult to be ill during the holiday season and all the support means the world. One last word - especailly now, though it should be true all the time - give someone a hug, and tell someone in your life that you love and appreciate them! Take care everyone, Brandee "the wounded angel" Brandee_Villaluz@bc.sympatico.ca ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Dec 1997 19:48:54 EST From: MikeDreams Subject: CHORDS - Foolish Games corrected Ok, this is my last post regarding Tabs for a long while.
