One of the attempts at a comeback is a suggestion to use Jewel (Atlantic is a Warner owned label) in tv ads between singles. The paragraph reads thus, "Still there are signs the pair [Robert Daly and Terry Semel] have the instincts to lead Warner Music's comeback, often using tricks they learned in the movie trade. An example: Mr. Semel's suggestion to keep folksinger Jewel in the spotlight between singles." Might I add, it is nice to see Jewel still occasionally labelled as a folksinger, and not a popsinger. The show will be about some of the most successful entertainers this past year, and in the preview for the show, they have a quick shot of Jewel. There are many celebrities to be featured, so I don't know how much of the show will be dedicated towards Jewel (not too much, I'm sure). I know many people want to know the exact meanings to Jewel's songs or any song for that matter, but I wanted to tell you that I feel that a song is interpreted different ways to many different people. Meaning that it could mean one thing for one person and another thing for another person. If I recall correctly, in one or both of Seal's CD inserts, he wrote a note to the reader saying that he didn't put his lyrics in the insert b/c he wanted the listener to interpret it their own way. Its like poetry, there's no wrong or right interpretation in poetry. I took a poetry class a few years back and the teacher pissed me off b/c we read a poem, which I don't remember what it was, and she asked us to interpret it in a one page paper. I didn't get a good grade, b/c she said I was wrong about some points. Well, the paper was my interpretation of the poem, how can that be wrong? Anyways, I write a lot of lyrics and songs and like people to interpret my songs they way they want. If they ask what its about, I'll tell them, but I also tell them that the meaning of the song can be whatever they want. Well enough babbling on my part. Have a great day! But I am trying anyway because I do not have the email addresses or full names to some of my fellow friends on this list.. In a day or two I post about the Thanksgiving events in California.. I am just not in the mood... I just wanted to let a few of you know that later today my very best friend Kendrick had to be put to sleep. Some of you were able to meet him at local eda events and you know that his was my assistance dog that has been with me for the past 12 years.. It's been a very tough week and it just got tougher today because everything has happened so quickly. He had a tumor inside his chest that was stopping him from getting enough oxygen. My heart is sad, and I just wish I could wake up from this dream... But reality is that this is real... Kendrick was a true eda in spirit. Always there helping carry my books, someone to talk to. Someone that excepted everyone. I will miss him... I feel stupid posting this to the list, I am not looking for sympathy emails.. I just wanted to let the ones that have crossed paths with him at eda events know what had happened.
