Hey Edas, Thanks everyone who responded to my Jewel Single post. I went back to the store today and they said "Angel Standing By' was being released, whether that happens or not remains to be seen. (we can hope...) In other music mentions, I found two cool new Cds while going thru the import section by 2 bands I have never even heard of. one is Fire Bomber (the cd was called "Second Fire"), and the other band was called Field of View (The Cd is called "II") Both Were very cool (I think they were from Japan) Anyway I recommend themn both highly. I also picked up the self titled cd from "Marry Me Jane" which is alos very cool (and a steal for only 4 bucks...:) ) Well take care Edas and talk to you soon. I'm feeling better today and almost 100% (knock on wood) there's been a lot of discussion on Who is Jewel?I just wanted to say this: because not all of use are best buds with Jewel we can only assume what we think she's like through the media, concerts etc.Why do we tend to focus on the "bad" side of people...I don't know maybe we're just curious(i'm not saying this is a bad thing it just baffles me)This is how I interpret Jewel the person to be like and also the method to my madness: 1)She seems pretty "normal"(for lack of a better word) so she cusses and tells people to shut up(I would bet a bundle that most of the time she's just saying it jokingly like at the MTV music video? awards)I've personally done both(cuss and joke around)not that swearing is a good thing but hell we all do it sometimes right?(I could be wrong on this but I personally don't know one person who's never said a swear in there lives,Excluding infants./babies) 2)She has a sense of humour I've heard some of the stories she's told and most are pretty funny(a little politically incorrect but that's her human side and who's really counting?) 3)She is a very sensitive and preceptive person the song I'm Sensitive say's it all...but I see her as a very preceptive person because many of her songs she wrote when she was young such as Don't, and she didn't even have a boy friend, yet she could convey such emotion so true to a person in love it's amazing! In fact you have to be preceptive to write at all(I think so anyway)!i also think preception has to do with being able to tap into others emotions and if you've ever heard any of her music then you know this to be true...(you can slap me for that question now hehe..you get my point though right?) 4)She is HUMAN not only flesh and blood but a mind and soul that can make mistakes... Basically what I'm trying to say is we do know Jewel or at least a part of her not everything has to be of physical knowledge...you don't have to put your hand in the fire to know that it's hot... "That's okay we're still learning, mistakes are aloud"-sang by the Jewel that I know... I just wanted to say one more thing...I LOVE YOU GUYS even your flames, your bickering, your nastiness and above all your angelic souls... I really love all of you...This may mean nothing to some of you and it many mean a lot to others but it is ment for ALL.:) you people really are Angels 0:)[even the ones who don't think they are ;)] Luv ya, marija the naive angel with invisible wings 0:) p.s. one minute of anger is 60 seconds without happiness... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 03 Dec 1997 00:02:31 -0500 From: Crunch Subject: Musical Artist Consideration =) Consider a musical artist. A person who has chosen to devote their life to the making and performance of music. Music which is toiled over every day with pain, happiness, and perserverence. It is a choice to take the hard road, to go against all odds, to work for nothing, to follow a dream. A choice which is consistently doubted and mocked, by both the artist and those close. =) Consider an artist's performance. It is full of physical and emotional energy. It is a story about who the artist is, a piercing and revealing look at the artists life. It is an accumulation of all the musical endeavors, talents, and charms they have learned in that life. It is their life, put on stage, night after night. It is their soul revealed for all to examine. =) Consider how an artist feels after a performance. He/she has just poured out their soul, their life's work, to a crowd. Whether the crowd is appreciative or non-appreciative, the experience of performing is physically exhausting and emotionally draining. And yet, as an extra gift to their fans, they often go that extra mile and meet at least a few of those fans after the show. =| Consider your emotional energy after a performance if it was you. You would try very hard to be as nice as possible, to meet as many as possible, to smile as often as possible, and not fall over from exhaustion. Sometimes, after many nights, you would want to just curl up, and spend some time alone. And yet, you strive to do that thing, to meet the fans' expectations. =| Consider the fans' expectations. To talk to the artist on a personal basis, to get a personal autograph, to get a smiling picture, and a hug. And though the expectations are obviously unrealistic, the fans expect it none-the-less, going to each show with the hope and need to meet their mentor. =( Consider how the fans must feel when this expectation is not met each show. =( Consider how an artist must feel when their are called "stuck-up". ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 03 Dec 1997 02:00:58 EST From: sparksmark@juno.com (Sparks the Everyday Angel) Subject: Re: WHO is Jewel? >matthew138@juno.com (Matthew Utter) wrote: >I guess the point I'm trying to make is that does anybody out there have >personal experience with Jewel? Jewel is human just like us. She has the same hopes, dreams, doubts, and fears that we do. She has her good days and bad days just like we do. Just like us, she has her nice side, and her not so nice side. Don't we all. Nobody is perfect folks, remember that, but it is our imperfections that make us human. Jewel is a complicated, talented, intelligent, insightful, beautiful, introspective human being and I wouldn't want to have it any other way. I am a huge Jewel fan and have seen her live twice, but thats not what Im writing about Im writing about a little girl named Angela. I think most of you have read about her but for those who have'nt she is VERY sick. This little girl is so giving and courageous we need to do something for her. It is obvious Jewel and the EDA's mean sooo much to her. I was thinking about the possibility of organizing an EDA gathering that Angela could attend but then I thought of a much better idea. She should meet Jewel. This would obviously be her dream come true and if ANY of us deserve to meet Jewel if would be Angela. I know there are members of this list who have connections. Im not saying you should arrange this Im just saying that I hope someone can let JEWEL know of the situation and let her take it into her own hands. HInt to Mr. BB. If she is the person that I feel she is she will do SOMETHING. a phone call, a letter, something! so if anyone out there can help Angela out please DO IT! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Dec 1997 17:48:15 EST From: SpGrlzRock Subject: just a little question hello all EDA's, I have a question, and i would love an answer. I met so many great people, I'm at a loss where to begin..... I hope more of you share your experiences, because I'm dazed & speechless....What an overwhelming amount of incredible music, too! Anyway, as you probably suspect, I have some news & updates of interest to all EDAs. Here's some of the things I can let you in on. 1998 itineraries are still being determined but here's the basic plan in general. January will basically be downtime. Jewel will take a much deserved breather from any major activities other than preparing her book of poetry for publication & possibly some studio sessions. February will primarily be devoted to prep-work for the movie "To Live On" which is scheduled to begin filming in Mid March & will continue off & on for several months. Jewel's Poetry Book will be published & hopefully available by late June or early July 1998. Her new album is now tentatively scheduled for release by Atlantic in late September 1998. That's the basics. Now on to some specifics about other things of big interest: Jewel & Lenedra recorded "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" (or just "Rudy" as Jewel calls it) along with The Boys Choir Of Harlem. It's a really swinging doo-wop version & you need not wait for that because it's being released now! The CD is called "Tis The Season" by The Boys Choir Of Harlem. It's on Unencumbered/1027th Street Records Label catalogue number 2304-2. The cassette is catalogue number 2304-4. "Tis The Season" is also available as a limited edition 2 record set (featuring an extra disc of TBCOH). The two record set can only be ordered direct & I'll find out that info & pass it on ASAP. The CD & cassette will be available in stores but you can also order that direct as well. Again, that info will soon be available & I will post it. Please don't reply asking for that info. Also, speaking of interesting releases, Jewel & Lenedra have become enamored with a South American classical guitarist & amazing singer named Andres Condon. AmyJo & I met Andres in Boston on the Papillon Tour & he's an incredibly nice guy. I haven't the info on his CD but will try to get it for you, soon. You may want to search for it on the web. Both Jewel & Lenedra highly recommend it. And no major update is complete without something mind blowing to include, so here goes......Jewel will perform to the largest audience of her entire career in January. Yep.....She'll be performing The National Anthem at the upcoming SUPERBOWL in San Diego!! Well, I guess that's enough to absorb for one day. Hope everyone is well & talk to y'all soon. Best wishes, MrBB *********************************** New to the list?
