If Mr. Alexander has no memories of "applauding orgasmically if" his musical idol at the time "does so much as tap her foot and strum her guitar" then we can only surmise that he has had a tortured teenagehood. > Jewel has somehow managed to fashion a glittering career out of > a great voice and little else. Don't be dazzled. Since most singers on this planet have "somehow managed to fashion a glittering career out of a great voice and little else" (the voice is what counts in a singer for most people), we can only surmise that Mr. Alexander is a little out of touch with the ways of this world. Well she kicked it around and figured it would be a nice way to do something she loves and get to know the EDA's a little bit better. So I'm adding it to the list of events for the EDAF Thanksgiving. Below is a synopsis of the workshop that Elizabeth wrote up. If interested you can RSVP Elizabeth's manager, Karen, at Ricka001@aol.com or just let Elizabeth know at the Living Room Tour, or at Java Joe's. Creativity and Writing Workshop With Elizbeth Hummel at Flat Rock (Torrey Pines Beach) Cost: $20 Meet at Java Joe's 11:30 (which shouldn't be to hard because that's where most of us will have spent the night) Workshop is at Torrey Pines from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday, November 29 This workshop is for poets, story writers, songwriters, journal writers, etc. at any stage or level of interest (including wannabes & hopefuls). The focus will be on our relationship to the creative force. Questions we'll delve into: What is "flow"? Is it messy? How do I get it? How do I "find my voice"? Do I even have one? What should I write about? Why write anything anyway? Other interesting subjects: Honesty in Writing Feelings As a Palette of Artistic Material Nature and Writing Rhymes and reasons for 'em Participants will work on piece of writing so bring paper and pens or crayons or pencils. Also bring food and drink (but no slcohol please). We'll have fun and if you don't like it, you can have your money back... I just had a random thought and was wondering what the rest of you thought about it. Here goes. Out of all the Angelfood and non POY songs, what would you pick or what do you think Jewel should pick for the first single off of the new album? That is if she puts some of those songs on the album. I'm just speculating of course. I was thinking it should be Carnivore. Well what do you think? I know this is pretty strange, but I'm just curious. I think he's right. If you don't know why, listen to his so-called music. I would never start saying saying a song is bad because I know all music has art in it but when it comes to Manson, oh PLEASE, don't tell me you call that music. Some out there may like Manson but I don't think they like him for the beauty of his "songs". Just like Greg said, he'll be nothing if it weren't for the bad stuff. Did you ever see Jewel rely on bad stuff to promote her image ? Jewel's music can manipulate one's emotions and that's what I call artisitc. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 1997 11:44:33 -0500 From: hdbarclay@juno.com Subject: NJC Happy thanksgiving to all you edas. Unfortunately, I don't think that it would work. Take, for instance, all of the radio stations that play Jewel on a regular basis. Then take the radio stations that usually play Manson. They are different radio stations, playing different types of music all together, so, I don't think that either radio station would be playing the duet often enough to make it popular...unless it's some great song, with a perfect "happy medium" between the two artists' style, then the song wouldn't be successful, or, at least, I don't think so. Anybody else have any opinions? Someone said that the "Manson is Satanic" thing is unfounded...have you seen his videos? Read what he's admitted to magazine editors? Look at the titles of his albums...I think that he's a little beyond perfectly sane. Issac The Quotin' ANGEL the happily sophisticated helpless romantic who thinks and dreams too much.
