The only time imagination falls >short is when it tries to find its own limits. first of all, let's say that Jewel comes with a post to THIS list. She clearly states that several songs of hers were made up and based on, well, nothing, they were fiction. Let's also say that those songs were YWMFM and WYSYS...by far the two most popular songs...would you stop liking those songs? NO! Would you stop listening to those songs? NO! Would you stop recommending the Pieces of You CD to anyone who asked? NO! And that's the whole point. For her to sell CD's. I don't know of that many people who listen to a song, and, think about what the artist was dreaming about when they wrote this. Isn't it more common, in fact, to ponder your own mysteries of the universe? That's what I thought. second, imagination is great, yes. There's no arguing with that, however, doesn't every emotion, every feeling, everything in the cosmos, doesn't it have a bad side? Imagination is true to form. I agree with everything "Palantir 0:P" said. He failed, however, to mention and handle the opposition to his utopia. Imagination is easy to fall in love with. However, to many more people use it as an escape to the stress of every day life. Children use imaginary friends to develop social (communication and interaction) skills...that will enable them to a) make real friends and b) communicate with everyone they need to However, there comes a point in child's life when they lose MOST of their imaginary friends. Granted, there will always be times when a child...or grown adult will stare into the stars (those explose balls of gas we call beautiful) and seek help for their problems. This may carry into adulthood and beyond. When, however, later on in life when seriously dramatic events occur, this person may turn to make believe friends again. This now becomes an anti-social occurance. I don't want to drag on and on with psycho babble nonsense that no one wants to hear, so I'll close up my little essay. What I am trying to say is that Imagination is great, yes. However, if the practice of turning to imagination when ALL of life's troubles come your way is prolonged, a person can begin to lose touch with all of society, friends, family, co-workers. This can result in traumatic instances...the loss of jobs, a deep depression, divorce, even...that person can and will fall into the hypnotic trance of imagination, drifting in and out of conciousness, desperately seeking a solution they will never see...because they are blind to it, blind by their disease, an O.D. on imagination. I think it'd be fun to carry on a little discussion about this, but as another post so briliantly pointed out, some of them get angry about NJC...so, I guess we'll have to defy our elders...any comments? Anyone? I was wondering if anyone knew where I could acquire Real Audio, WAV, MP3, or any other Audio format sound file of any Non-POY(I got the Cd...no need for redundancy) song. I have "Jessica", "Cold Song", "Love Me Just Leave me Alone", and "Nicotine Love". But I'm looking for some others...preferably "Sometimes It be that way", "Yo", "Silver Linings", "Satellite", and "Emily"...more if possible, but I was wondering if anyone had any of those, or knew of a gold mine of a site with all of them. If anyone wants the ones I said I have, I'll be glad to send them to you. Two of them are local(you don't need to be logged on the Internet), and two are internet, but I'm not sure which are which. Also, if anyone knows how to grab the actual RealAudio file from a site so that you can play it off your Hard Drive without the Internet, that would be better than the best :) Thank you a lot in advance! For those of you that collect, like CJ (write me if you want my copy so your mom doesn't have to buy it), there is an incredible close-up that shows a lot of detail of Big Blue and Jewel. There is also a piece on how to copy Jewel's makeup, which, personally, I found trite since for the most part, she does not wear as much makeup, or even the same style of makeup, that they chose to comment on. Nonetheless, it is nice to see her recognized in any fashion. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I have recently found out that I am going to be able to visit the musical birth place of our beloved Jewel. I know that it is not the real birth place of anything but it is the city that I most associate with Jewel. What I was woundering was wether any of the very old Angels, old meaning in the context of how long they have been a Jewel fan (not age), that live in the SD area and know the city and Jewel sites, such as Interchange, would be willing to show me around. The only problem is that I will be in SD next fri. and Sat. But the reason that I am making such a big deal about this is because I am from Maine and I don't get to get to the west coast much. Now don't think I am a hick because I am not I get my hiar cut in NY city and have numerous friends in NY city, even sum what famouse ones, so I do get out and know what a big city is like and how to get around in one. But I am looking for a unique Angel experiance. So if there is anyone kind enough to take me under their wing for a coulpe days I would be most appriciative. thanks in advance Love your Guardian Angel, Lee ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Nov 1997 17:50:48 -0500 From: "Greg Brown" Subject: why we examine celebrities. To all those who wonder why people debate over jewel's eye colour or hair colour etc... Well I'm going to keep this short. people have a fascination with charisma. Jewel is the epitome of that charisma.and perhaps people examine her traits and inner workings to in turn understand themselves. What drives them! What drives humanity!
