Well she kicked it around and figured it would be a nice way to do something she loves and get to know the EDA's a little bit better. So I'm adding it to the list of events for the EDAF Thanksgiving. Below is a synopsis of the workshop that Elizabeth wrote up. If interested you can RSVP Elizabeth's manager, Karen, at Ricka001@aol.com or just let Elizabeth know at the Living Room Tour, or at Java Joe's. Creativity and Writing Workshop With Elizbeth Hummel at Flat Rock (Torrey Pines Beach) Cost: $20 Meet at Java Joe's 11:30 (which shouldn't be to hard because that's where most of us will have spent the night) Workshop is at Torrey Pines from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday, November 29 This workshop is for poets, story writers, songwriters, journal writers, etc. at any stage or level of interest (including wannabes & hopefuls). The focus will be on our relationship to the creative force. Questions we'll delve into: What is "flow"? Is it messy? How do I get it? How do I "find my voice"? Do I even have one? What should I write about? Why write anything anyway? Other interesting subjects: Honesty in Writing Feelings As a Palette of Artistic Material Nature and Writing Rhymes and reasons for 'em Participants will work on piece of writing so bring paper and pens or crayons or pencils. Also bring food and drink (but no slcohol please). We'll have fun and if you don't like it, you can have your money back... The following quote is taken from the second one: Musically, Ska is a fusion of Jamaican mento rhythm with R&B, with the drum coming in on the 2nd and 4th beats, and the guitar emphasizing the up of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th beats. The drum therefore is carrying the blues and swing beats of the American music, and the guitar expressing the mento sound. `[SB(JJ)]' Chopped Liver (Charlie) watkins@selway.umt.edu Share publicly, flame privately, " 'Cause anyone can start a conflict it's harder yet to disregard it ". ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Nov 1997 00:15:40 -0700 (MST) From: Charlie Watkins Subject: Re: RaceCarDriver ROCKED OUT! Shana and I have just added a section called "Tales of Inspiration" that we believe will be especially meaningful to EDAs. The purpose of "Tales of Inspiration" is to make it possible for people to share their most inspiring experiences with others. We all know how inspiring Jewel's music and life has been to us. Now we can help spread inspiration by posting our own personal stories of what has inspired us. Your "Tale of Inspiration" might be related to Jewel or it might be something as simple as observing the beauty of nature, an act of kindness or an experience of artistic creativity. The first page of "Tales of Inspiration" invites you to submit via e-mail your own "Tale of Inspiration." This can be as short as one sentence or as long as a short story. Please feel free to express whatever has inspired you in life. By offering it to others, your own inspiration will multiply and flow around the world. The second page lets you read the "Tales of Inspiration" that people have contributed. I'm leaving in a few hours for a week in Southern California to attend the EDA events around Thanksgiving but, when I return, I will post the "Tales of Inspiration" that you all contribute. I'm looking forward to this new site developing into a powerful vortex of inspiration and positive energy. The address of "Kissed By An Angel" is http://www.ojo.com/kk/kissed For all of you who are really inspired, you can submit as many "Tales of Inspiration" as you like. Let the inspiration flow! I will be going home for Thanksgiving where we are cavemen and haven't invented cable yet for my parent's home. So, my VCR is staying here and will be doing a whole bunch of taping. Can I have a definite Eastern time zone time for the showings of this concert so that I can pre-program my VCR to tape them? Since NONE of the recent posts in the last few days about the airtime for the VH1 airing of the Wizard Of Oz with Jewel mentioned all four time slots, here they are: All times are Eastern times, you'll have to check your local listings to see if they air concurrently with the eastern airings or at these times in your time zones too..... 11-27 Thursday 10:00am & 6:00pm EST 11-28/29 Friday night/Saturday morning 2:00am EST 11/29 Saturday 4:00pm EST The show is two hours long. Please note: The VH1 web site lists these as "Concerts" on their program guide, but you have to click on the actual link to see WHICH "concert" is showing. For instance, Saturdays' 4:00pm Wizard of Oz show is shown as "Concerts" and clicking the link shows it's indeed the Wizard Of Oz. However, Sunday's 4:00pm "Concerts" is NOT the Wizard Of Oz. (I am mentioning this as I don't want to see folks posting that it's also on at 4:00pm Sunday etc when it is not....VH1 is airing "concerts" all this week and next) Ya'd think the lazy webmaster at VH1 could actually list which show is which instead of making you click a "concerts" link :( Mike :) P.S. To all the list members in San Diego for the big shindig(s) these next few days...HAVE A BLAST!! :) P.P.S For those that have not yet met him, you can fully expect Dennis Harris to keep each and every person at the Java Joes' sleep-over AWAKE until at least 5:00am or until he is damn well ready to go to sleep, whichever comes last ;) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Nov 1997 07:46:33 -0800 From: pezzie Subject: Jewel/Lisa Sanders On Lisa Sanders' CD "Isn't Life Fine" there is a song called The Jewel - check out the words.
