Do you really care about jewel or would you rather fight over snl or anticrist of if she smokes or what color her hair is? I dont know but it doesnt really bother me if she did or didnot dye her hair.....if she smokes thats her choice. And id like her nomatter her religon. As for snl oh well whatever its over if she hates it cool if not cool. its all in the past. REALLY! its great you guys worry about her i do to but to an extent i refuse to fight over hair color. jewel is a wonderful person. i would also like to say i know AAAA jewel. not the real thing but im shure she will be some day. She runs a close second to jewels beauty and voice. she also is the best actress in my school and gets the lead in every play she trys out for. shes the most friendly girl ever. Her name? Angela Collins remember that. she will be famous someday. Im trying to go to or organize an EDA meeting. ill bring her. she will blow you away. the room lights up when she walks in. it amazes me sometimes how she could be friends with me. how wonderful she is compared. She of couurse says shes no diffrent than me, she says we are all equal. And i love her for that same reason i love jewel and all you EDA's. we are all equal. please dont fight over nonsense love one another consider feelings. imagine when you were a newbie. did you argue over things you really didnt know about? Im a newbie. I stay out of the little side arguments about hair color and smoking. im very shure i know the answers but i keep my mouth shut im not pointing fingers but can we stop the junk mail? **sunni** ~shy angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 15:17:30 EST From: "Terese Calibreece" Subject: NJC-but please read This wont take ong I promise. Gives a good understanding of a lot of the hurdles and burps that we have had. Dan Perugini dperugin@medmail.mcg.edu dperugin@mail.mcg.edu "With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see that right, let us strive to finish the work we are in." Abraham Lincoln The Natural Life Cycle Of Mailing Lists Kat Nagel (KatNagel@eznet.net) sent this terrific piece to the EARLY-M mailing list in December 1994. It is the best description of the social development of a mailing list I've read. - - - ------------------------------------------------------------------ Every list seems to go through the same cycle: 1. Initial enthusiasm (people introduce themselves, and gush a lot about how wonderful it is to find kindred souls). 2. Evangelism (people moan about how few folks are posting to the list, and brainstorm recruitment strategies). 3. Growth (more and more people join, more and more lengthy threads develop, occasional off-topic threads pop up). 4. Community (lots of threads, some more relevant than others; lots of information and advice is exchanged; experts help other experts as well as less experienced colleagues; friendships develop; people tease each other; newcomers are welcomed with generosity and patience; everyone -- newbie and expert alike -- feels comfortable asking questions, suggesting answers, and sharing opinions). 5. Discomfort with diversity (the number of messages increases dramatically; not every thread is fascinating to every reader; people start complaining about the signal-to-noise ratio; person 1 threatens to quit if *other* people don't limit discussion to person 1's pet topic; person 2 agrees with person 1; person 3 tells 1 & 2 to lighten up; more bandwidth is wasted complaining about off-topic threads than is used for the threads themselves; everyone gets annoyed). 6. Finally: 1. Smug complacency and stagnation (the purists flame everyone who asks an 'old' question or responds with humor to a serious post; newbies are rebuffed; traffic drops to a doze-producing level of a few minor issues; all interesting discussions happen by private email and are limited to a few participants; the purists spend lots of time self-righteously congratulating each other on keeping off-topic threads off the list). OR 2. Maturity (a few people quit in a huff; the rest of the participants stay near stage 4, with stage 5 popping up briefly every few weeks; many people wear out their second or third 'delete' key, but the list lives contentedly ever after). Sounds familiar, doesn't it? =) - -- - -Karen Cate karen_cate@mentorg.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 20:51:39 -0500 From: Anthony Chick Subject: *~Newbie?~* I have tryed to catch up with the posts...but I haven't been here long enough to really know what is going on soo I was wondering if someone would like to adopt me, (my ad is not posted yet) Please email me if any replies chicks@gte.net *ginger angel* NEWBIE THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 20:22:08 -0500 (EST) From: The Lovable Angel Subject: Re: Is jewel a vegie? I can't find the original post, (it's still in here somewhere though) and I'd like to get more angelfood. (who doesn't :)hehe) Second, about Jewel imagining things for songs. If you actually looked at it, you'd see that most of the songs in existance aren't based on reality. Except for a few special cases, reality is boring, and so makes mostly mediocre songs. Besides this, Jewel's imagining is one of the few things that are absolutely essential for life. Before you all jump on me for that, think about it. Without imagination, we'd never have even progressed as far as being cave people, and that's setting aside the enormous psychological benefits of imagining. I highly recomend imagining to everybody, whether it's songs, stories, Mind's Eye Theatre, or something else altogether. The only time imagination falls short is when it tries to find its own limits. Just my thoughts, Palantir the Trekker Angel 0:P PS for those who don't know, Mind's Eye Theatre is a set of rules for live-action roleplying (LARPing). It's really cool. If you don't already play, go out and try it. :) Palantir 0:P ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 12:36:30 -0500 (EST) From: The Lovable Angel Subject: The Creative writing Process (was Re: Making up songs?) > I think you are confused about the creative process. I'm 15 myself adn i have over 200 songs written only I started when I was about 5 (honestly.. ever since my dad lost his job when i was little.. but that was like when i was 7.. anyway) and i haven't stopped.. a lot of them are very good.. so a shameless plug here - if you wanna check out some of my songs, email me and i'll send you my best :) ALSO :) hehehe I as much as a few people I know write songs in someone else's shoes... for instance Jewel did "Painters" in the point of view of some lady who's lover died... and she did "Pieces of You" in the perspective of a girl who's father was like in the KKK or something *shrug* she explained it once or twice ;) I just want to poin t out that just because you don't understand the creative writing process and are confused, doesn't make you stupid or anything... Hey that gives me another shameless plug - go take a class with Elizabeth Hummel during that EDA thanksgiving thing ;) If not... the creative process is easy to learn... it's mostly self-explanatory.. I didn't take any classes... but i have a keen perception of lyrics... I read them before I listen to a song... Just ask anyone.. I'm a lyrics archive all in myself... :) So thanks again Charlie for explaining :) > > Chopped Liver (Charlie) > watkins@selway.umt.edu > > Share publicly, flame privately, > " 'Cause anyone can start a conflict > it's harder yet to disregard it ". ttyl - -linda the lovable angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 18:49:04 -0500 From: "Matt Adler" Subject: Angelfood I need some please I am not a new member. The most important station here (radio Donna) has an interactive chart on sunday afternoon. I was thinking that maybe as many EDA's as possible could send a request to put 'Jewel-Foolish Games' in the chart. If only 10% of the EDA's do this she'll have to enter the chart... Send your e-mail to: Donna@brtn.be Start your letter like this: 'Dit is mijn favoriete top drie voor de primadonna:' (This are my three favorites for the Primadonna -which is the name of the chart-) And then simply list your three favorite songs of this moment (with Jewel on number one if course) Thanks for your support, Jorgen, EDA in Belgium. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 15:19:58 -0800 From: Gerrit Kruidhof Subject: Re: Jewel UAQs (Unusually asked quesions) InterNate1@aol.com wrote: > Fellow Jewel-philes, > Iv'e got a few Jewel Questions, Please send your answers to me! > 1.) Gerrit - ------------------------------------------------------------------ Yo Written by Atz Kilcher As sung by Jewel and Atz Kilcher Transcribed by Michelle Thomas A little yodeling song for my man Yo And I know that Yo don't know That I wrote this song a late one night He'd heard me yodeling down at Hobo Gin's And we were hanging out at the Putter Inn He was beggin me to yodel And Oh Yo he wasn't half the type He held out his hand I said "What's your name?" And he said "Yo" So I asked him again And he said "Yo" again So I figured it must be his name Well I was having some perculiar thoughts But you can't say much with a name like Atz So I settled back Tried to figure out Yo-yo's game Now Yo was sailin three sheets of the wind With a frozen stare And an ear-to-ear grin He kept beggin me to yodel, sayin "G-gget up there and yodel with the band" It was my good friend Rod with a hired gun So I stepped up to have a little bit of fun With the lead, and the bass and the drummer and the rhythm man Now Yo he staggered right up to the stage He had this angelic smile on his face That sucker looked like he floated up to heaven and he died While I never had a fan quite like Yo before He stood there mesmerized on the floor He started stompin and clappin when he heard my yodeling cry (chorus) And I said *Yo This yodeling song's for you No matter where you go No matter what you do Remember that time spent yodeling's time well spent I've never had myself a fan club before But Yo don't you know that one thing's for sure If I do I'll make you my fan club president And I said *(Yodel) Well when I got through I said "There you go Yo" And he was still smiling but his eyes were still closed And I thought I was going to get away from him But then he opened them wide and said "I-II want to hear some more" Well I was wearing out my welcome and I was running out of time But I decided that I'd yodel up another line Cause I thought it was the only way I could get Yo off the floor Then I got to thinking I realized Suddenly I realized Why old Yo liked yodeling Because everytime I yodeled I was saying Yo's name Well then I got to thinking it probably wouldn't work too well In fact it downright sounds like hell If you ever try to yodel using anybody elses name Try Inga *Inga-lay (etc.) See what I mean It just doesn't work So In this whole wide world No matter where I go One thing I've learned I've finally know I'll never yodel again if there's anyone in the audience named Yo And I said *Yo This yodeling song's for you No matter where you go No matter what you do Remember that time spent yodeling's time well spent I've never had myself a fan club before But Yo don't you know that one thing's for sure If I do I'll make you my fan club president And I said *(Yodel) (long yodel) * Jewel and Atz together - ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 18:32:56 -0500 From: "Matt Adler" Subject: Why you and I love Jewel I was thinking the other day in class, it was French and it gets boring in there, why I love Jewel so much. I was thinking, maybe it is because she is sooooooo beautiful, (tres belle) maybe it was because she is sooooo smart, (tres inteligant) it could be because she is such a great poet, possibly because of her enchanting voice, and other reasons. I came to the conclusion that is was all of the reason. Every single reason that I could think of was why, whenever I hear or see Ms. Jewel Kilcher, I get a special fealing, that none other can compare to. It is why, whenever I think of her, I think of how I wish that more people could be like her, and how we (EDA's) are striving to be. If I was stranded on a deserted island, I would take Jewel, out of anyone in the world. This got me thinking about us EDA's. (The entire class is asleep at this point, while the teacher is rambling on about one of her many trips to France) Then I thought, why do we love her so. So I was wondering if everyone on the list could please send me a letter about why you love Jewel so much. Please take some time to think it over before you write it. Thanks, I will post the results. The chat is in private room: everyday angels. I'll post how to get there next week. 2) AAN is once again/still on hold.
