Hi to everyone!! I just wanted to let anyone who hasn't seen it yet know that Jewel is in the new issue of Swing (Dec/Jan)on page 62. She is also on the cover with others such as Sarah McLachlan and Winona Ryder. Check the issue out if you can. The Jewel part really isn't too informing (just the normal stuff), but there are many articles on other interesting people. The theme of the section Jewel is in is "The Most Powerful People In Their Twenties." Way To Go Jewel!! Take Care Everyone... George ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 20:12:13 -0500 From: Crunch Subject: "Live Your Dream or Die"... =) ...VH1's 'Behind The Music: Lillith Fair' quotes this as Jewel's life motto. Jewel's segment also includes excerts of an intereview with Jewel in which she talks about sleeping with her boss, Sean Penn, Lenedra and, of course, Lillith Fair. The excert includes mention and vid shots of Java Joes, Steve Poltz, Lenendra, Jewel's father, and her horse. VH1 herald's Jewel as "the american dream come true", but really gives a fair and favorable shot on her. =) For those who were at Lillith Fair or are fans of the musicians that were part of it, this segment of Behind the Music is a must see. It contains new interview clips with , and Sarah, Jewel, Shawn Colvin, Sheryl Crow, the Indigos, Meredith Brooks, Lisa Loeb, and others. It gives full kudos to Sarah for making "one woman's dream" happen, and shoves it up the music industry's ass. It screams "sexual discrimination" time and again. It is basically VH1's 'I told you so' to the music industry, and I loved every minute of it! =) Here's to hoping that nothing changes next year! =) Crunch! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 19:06:54 -0500 From: Micheal Mace Subject: Jewel as the anti-christ I would just like to thank all the people who read what I wrote about Jewel (Except the disclaimer) and pretty much ignored the reast of my website, then proceeded to email me, I admit I am not a great writer going to Harvard (Or is it Yale?) like Mr Todd Kerpleman (Or something like that) http://www.cyborganic.com/people/dolphin/cronjob/cron30.html but the least you can do is infer or ignore. So far I have 13 emails from you people: 10 flamed me 2 liked it 1 had really nothing to do with my page (Was posted to this list) 1 email that said something about lesbianism that I won't repeat So in conclusion some of you recognized my humor and the rest went off half-cocked. Now that I'm finally done reading all of the replies to my IRC post, and replying to many of them, I've decided to write the list, since its a lot quicker and easier than mailing the other 50 people I need to reply to about it... As Mike has already stated....its over! I'm over it, I think everyone involved is over it. I have one objection to a post in response to my original post which included quoted dialogue from the chat session, but I won't even bother you all with that. The objection is based on 'interpretation'. What I was trying to communicate in the IRC session I was speaking of was one thing, and what certain people interpreted it as was the complete oposite. I'm not blaming anybody for what happened but myself, for I failed to punctuate correctly, and thus, my meaning was distorted, and I obviously interpreted what they meant incorrectly. This is my public apology for offending those people that I spoke of in my post. Savor this moment, because getting me to admit guilt is a once in a life-time deal (perhaps a personal struggle I need to work on, but its also a survival tactic in my line of business). Anyhow...This post is about what a lot of people have e-mailed me about since last night. I appreciate all of your replies (all 150 of them). Many EDAs wrote me and told me to chill out, in essence. This is something I strive to do everyday. People irritate me all of the time, and I always let it pass. I've never been one to fall into the ways of the world, and act out in rage, confusion, or agression. I've always been reserved, and co-operative. I always take things with a grain of salt (why is it a grain of salt?). I guess it just got to me when I thought fellow EDAs were not like me, and in reality, I was the one with the problem. I should know better than to do what I did. I just want to encourage you all to settle your problems in private, and not to hold grudges. Talk about your problems, and resolve them in a manner that is both pleasing, and respectful. And remember that even though "I'm sensitive, so be careful with me, cuz I'd like to stay that way", we all need to keep in mind that our fellow EDAs are sensitive, so be careful with eachother, cuz we'd all like to stay that way. joe ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 22:31:17 -0500 (EST) From: Rza1razor@aol.com Subject: Re: LOL (anti-christ) i didn't find it hillarious i found it odd and disturbing i mean i am not upset about it cause that's some1's opinion and who am i to say what some1 can say ya know? so i just think its odd and not funny but that's my opinion and i respect every1's opinion even if i totally don't agree...cool? tahnx bye eric ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 22:57:32 -0500 (EST) From: Piper1013@aol.com Subject: Skeet Ulrich joins the cast of "To Live On" Just found this on yahoo! entertainment headlines.... Skeet Ulrich is slotted to take over the part which originally belonged to Matt Damon in the Civil War epic starring our own Jewel and Tobey Maguire. For those of you who may be unaware of who Skeet Ulrich is, he recently starred in "Scream", "Touch" and will be seen in the upcoming movie "As Good As It Gets" with Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt & Greg Kinnear... I asked him why, expecting him to say cause she's beautiful, or has a nice body or something along that line[don't get me wrong I know not all guys have a one tract mind but Jesse does :)]But he didn't he said because "she's one smart chick" he went on to say that she really has a different prespective on life and that he thinks her optimism is what really makes her music stand above other's in her proffesion. WOW I thought I was dreaming but I wasn't and soon after he said that all the others at the table started to agree(even the other guys)If a 16 year old one tract mind boy can say that she's more than just a pretty face passing through you gotta know it's true! Just in time for Christmas or Chanukah or Kwanza or the Winter Solstice or for nothing in particular I am reposting the EDA Shirt information. I have about 50 shirts left from my last order that are taking up an awful lot of room in my house. This may be the last batch I get (I am thinking about retiring as T-Shirt Guy) so if you want one here is all the information you need. The shirt first became available back in May. Now that the list is up and running again and all is right with the world. thought this would be a good time to repost. I have very limited amount of small, xx-large and xxx-large shirts so if you want one of those act quickly. Talk of an EDA shirt began last summer and some how I ended up in charge. When JewelStock was announced we decided to make a shirt to commemorate that instead. Over the Winter people started bugging me to make an EDA Shirt again. So, I did, and here is the information. The shirt was designed by me and approved by Jewel and Lenedra for sale to the EDA's. The image of Jewel of the shirt comes from a picture taken by EDA Krista Dooley at Jewel's Border's Cafe appearance in Boston in May of 1996. The font used on the shirt was done by the infamous Dennis Harris. The shirt itself is royal blue and the design is in black and yellow. The design is a picture of Jewel on the front along with the words "Everyday Angels." The back reads "EDA" in large letters and below that "eda-info@smoe.org" an address which auto-responds a brief FAQ about the mailing list. Below that is the angel from the JewelStock shirt redone in black and yellow. The shirt costs $15 plus $3 shipping per order (foreign order shipping is priced on an order by order basis). Since being introduced four months ago, over 250 shirts have been purchased by EDA from around the world. The shirt can be ordered via the web at http://www.cybercom.net/~pjk/EDA. If you do not have any web access, would like a jpeg of the design, or have any other question feel free to email me at this address. Thanks, Phil (The T-Shirt Guy) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 97 21:50:27 +0800 From: "James Reach" Subject: Ticekt Sales Report for New Year's Eve The Jewel and Rugburns New Year's eve in Las Vegas tickets went on sale on Saturday, November 15. The sales at Ticketmaster outlets began at noon in Nevada (including the Hard Rock itself) and were delayed 10 minutes in all other western states, including California. They went on sale at 12:10 p.m. in California so that Nevada residents could get the good seats first. However, American Express had a reserved bloc of 100 seats at $150.00 and 100 seats at $125.00 seats for Gold Card holders. You had to call a special 1-800 number which opened at the exact same time that sales at the Nevada outlets began (noon). These seats were only available to Gold Card holders. I have no idea where the American Express deal was advertised, I just heard about when I called Amex about some other reason before Saturday. That is how I got good seats (row F, center) while being in California, through a quick redial button just as the phone switchboard opened.
