Afterwards they went and watched her favorite show the Jefferson's. The childrens father came in and shut off the TV and took the kids out of the room. When they came back they were crying, she asked them why and they said they weren't allowed to watch black people on TV. She wrote Daddy from that experience. - -Karen >Date: Mon, 17 Nov 1997 21:54:08 -0500 (EST) >From: Han Jin Ahn >To: jewel@smoe.org >Subject: Siginficance of Daddy > >Does anyone genuinely know what the song Daddy is about? A life of anger, a life of pain, passed on from father to son. Always rejected, always ignored. never strong enough, or fast enough, or good enough. Try harder, work faster, cant you do anything right. You try to please all, but you satisfy none. You must walk behind those who claim to love you, look as others find their heart's desire while your burning gaze falls on the blind. I know this, In feel your pain. It constantly amazes me how a outspoken few can always start a wave of panic with their cries of wolf. a few problems here or there does not mean the decline of something...sometimes we need to step back and view things before going off half-cocked and panicing. It's easy to fall for this and before you know it, it's the end of what we know. Despite what people say, make your own call, look at the situation and form your own opinion. We are all sheep in this life, whether we choose to be herded is our decision. I grow weary of these mishaps, we need to see things for what they are and not for what people say. Hello Angels: I just stumbled across this extremely disturbing website. Here's the site if you want, but be aware, it's not pretty: http://amberg.simplenet.com/user/Lokar/antic.html E-mail this guy if you can, telling him how twisted his perception of Jewel is.. Love, Me ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Nov 97 22:09:17 PST From: "Rhino" Subject: Frustration subject Hi, I've gotten a lot of hate mail about my "Frustration" issue. I think it = was read entirely wrong. Being a Jewel fan IS about feeling and understa= nding her music. But the little things that people ask are annoying. = There are TONS of Jewel-realted sites out there to browse. The info is = out there. I'm just saying that I think only real information or GOOD = questions should be sent to this list. Please stop flaming me for this. I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm = just trying to express my view-points. Newbies are very welcome as far = as I'm concerned. But I wish they would realize what they're getting int= o by joining this list, and maybe lay back awhile and get the info by sea= rching. There are tons of E-mails sent every day, and it would be nice = if they were worth reading for once. For instance, all these people aski= ng how you become an EDA are bugging me. Look in the FAQ that you got = when you joined! Didn't you know what this list was all about before you= joined? And Jewel doesn't smoke! I wouldn't care if she did, but she doesn't so = drop it! Bye, Ryan :) The Jagged Little Angel That's Always Standing By and is probably going = to get flamed anyway. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Nov 1997 21:41:47 -0800 From: blowingbubbles1@juno.com (Trixie O Baby) Subject: Come See My Website I dont think it is the run of the mill teen website. It's been a positive experience; I've gained valuable knowledge, and Jewel music. I only hope that it continues to be positive for all. I just have a few responses to other emails and some comments of my own. This is my largest post yet, and for that I apologize. First, someone mentioned a problem with short messages. In my opinion, there is no such animal. Short messages help when you're reading this in digest form. Anything you can do to shorten messages helps. For instance, don't attach long signature files or don't quote huge blocks of irrelevant text. I've noticed that everyone's doing a great job. However, we still need work on being succinct and not repeating ourselves in email. Secondly, there are tons of resources out there. If you have a question, chances are it's on the Frequently Asked Questions list you got when you signed up. There are also over 100 Jewel sites. And if you haven't gone to Mike's FAQ and list guide (http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup), I'd highly recommend it. If you just want to contact a real human, have a list member adopt you. If you have a post and aren't sure if you should send it, as Mike has said, sit on it for awhile. Finally, let's all thicken our skins a bit an not walk on eggshells. If someone says something you don't like, take a deep breath and ask yourself if it will bother you next week. Also don't be afraid to speak your mind. Just remember that freedom of expression does not include profanity or inflammatory remarks. Sorry to have rambled. I just hope we can all work together to make the list a great way to express ourselves. - -- Best Wishes, Simply Jewel: Frank Clark http://www.geocities.com/~simply_jewel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #880 ***************************
