Jewel is a pop star. Of course she is near the top of all the charts. It is no surprise. Ok, here's the deal... Tickets for the New Year's Eve gig at the Hard Rock's Joint in Las Vegas go on sale SATURDAY 11-15 at 12:00 PM PACIFIC time... If you need to buy them by phone, as I'm sure most of you will, you have to call (702)-474-4000, that is Ticketmaster's number here in Vegas... Do NOT call the Hard Rock to buy tickets as they won't sell them to you, if you're local then you can buy them in person, but if you are not you HAVE to call Ticketmaster. :) Just want to make that clear so nobody gets confused.... If you want any other information though then call the Hard Rock and ask for the box office, their number is (702)-693-5000... The tickets are priced at $77, $125, and $152 dollars.... And remember the Rugburns are the opening act. :) I personally will not be attending the show because I'm poor and can't afford to... However, I do want to meet some of you, and we'll try to work out some kind of EDA gathering if we can. :) - --Lisa-- **Warrior Princess Angel** ***************************************************************** "Maybe I should've loved you better, maybe you could have loved me more..." - --Jewel Proprietor of the Official Unofficial Jamie Kennedy Page http://members.aol.com/piper1013/index.htm ***************************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 18:40:27 -0500 From: electrolite3@juno.com (Lisa Jancaitis) Subject: Amen "Because in the Bible only the angels have wings. Although most of the songs are still way hard for me to play but chords. Anyhow, for WWSYS it says "Another hotdog, hamburger and side of fries, sure hope my health doesn't get shot to hell. He says hold my calls from behind those cold brick wall shes says come here boy, there ain't nothing for free" so it has both! It also plays out the music obiously for both, though not much changes! She wasn't playing anything it was just a few short interviews over the course of the 2 hour show. The Big Breakfast is quite a well watched show, however it can get a bit stupid and i'd hardly call it a serious interview show! Anyway, a couple of the presenters interviewed her and basically went over a lot of old ground, i.e. "did you live in your car?,did you grow up in Alaska with no running water, TV etc.? can you yodel?" Stuff along those lines but she did give a demonstration of her yodelling which was pretty cool. I haven't actually heard "Chime Bells" before or heard her yodel so I found it pretty amazing how fast she could do it. The presenters annoyed me a bit though because, IMHO, they saw her yodelling as something to poke fun at, a novelty act like "ha ha, yodelling, how cute"........ but hey! I don't care, it doesn't sound nearly as bad as the SNL thing over there! :) She also told a story/anecdote about washing her hair in the bathroom of Denny's when she was living in her van and she had a meeting with record execs. Anyway, she came off alright and it gave her some publicity over here which is a good thing considering how much airplay the newly re-released YWMFM is getting over here!! Bye for now! !Joel! 0:) The English Angel (:0 P.S. Not the right place for this, I know, but Anyone wanna adopt me?! :) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 20:40:01 -0500 (EST) From: FabSurfGal@aol.com Subject: Re: JC:random Jewel notes In a message dated 97-11-14 06:55:27 EST, HRENB@aol.com writes: I would normally reply to this post privately, but the main reason for my response is the first comment below. In fact, there are chapters of Surfrider in every major city, as well as countless smaller cities around the country. If anyone would like information on the Surfrider foundation, as well as the newsletter, please email me privately and I will provide that information. (I am a member of the San Diego Chapter.) ". Everyone's favorite DJ How-wierd Stern... Monday he played a parody song to you were meant for me where it said she whines when she sings but sticks out her chest and has a bare midriff etc. Gee I wonder if he got the idea from SNL aired two days earlier- how original for the guy who's always moaning how people rip him off- anyways I hope Miss Kilcher never lowers herself to appearing on his show." ** Jewel DID appear on the Howard Stern show. It has yet to air on the E! Channel though. I listen to the show every morning, and that one was quite tame and good natured. The parody was done BEFORE the SNL skit, so as far as accusing him of not being "original", I am afraid you are off base. In fact, the parody was prepared prior to her visit, and she commented that she found great truth to the lyrics as Howards crew had sung them, and was astounded by how people (ie: the EDAs) think that she is so "damn pure and untainted". They spent at least 10 minutes discussing how her image is not her inasmuch as people seem to impress upon her personality that she is completely flawless. If you get a chance, watch for the airing on the E! show, I am sure you will be quite pleased. Not only that, but she is going to be scheduled for another appearance after this tour, and after the release of the next album. Just a little information for you guys from an old fogie around here! Peace and love! Hope everyone is well....and can't wait to see everyone at Thanksgiving! This is probably the best place to put it anyway so everyone can correct it! This is my second favorite song, next to Near You Always, of course. :) I think me and my friend, Jamie, a new member of the list, figured out the lyrics pretty well. It may take up some space, but I'm gonna go ahead and write the whole song, although the beginning is right, I think it'll be good for newer folks. "Without You By My Side" ~ Jewel Kilcher I lie so tired in my bed and moon shows herself to the door and I shut my eyes. I pray to God, won't you tell me please, what's a girl like me doing lying here without you by my side? Lying here without you by my side Lying here without you by my side The room fills with moonlight and memories of old times, but don't worry about me, I'm just fine most of the time. The hardest part is late night, when I'm home all alone, and the house is so still nothing better to do than think about you. I'm Lying here without you by my side I'm Lying here without you by my side How quick my heart wants to believe, I'll never be lonely again. It's those little things I never thought about much, that I miss most in the end. Like those sweet red-wine kisses, and the candlelight, and the poetry, but mainly, it's just the warmth of your skin, and having you by my side, I'm Lying here without you by my side There's this weight in my heart, it's so heavy, so sad, it felt like a wave that any moment comes crashing down, and maybe my sorrow will drown tomorrow when I'm lying here without you by my side I'm Lying here Without You by my Side _________________________________________________ Corrections by: Priscilla Goodwyne and Jamie Mathews Please, if you have a webpage with lyrics, please correct this!! (The blue one) > She also has another Taylor that she > doesn't use as often, its a Taylor of the > 800 series I believe. She loves her Taylors. > And they ARE great guitars!! I must make a correction and some additions. The newest one she's been using for songs in standard tuning is a custom Taylor jumbo, referred to as -15 series, if such catalog terms are to be applied to a custom guitar. The other Taylor that she uses (quite a lot actually) often for open D tunings, and was the first really good guitar she owned is a 912-C. Apparently there's a flaw in the finish somewhere that made it a steal compared to its $3500 list price. She also has a Taylor grand auditorium model, an 814-C fitted with a Sunrise magnetic pickup. This one makes relatively few public appearances. PS. The funny little purple and yellow guitar in the YWMFM video is also a Ferrington. Whereas "Big Blue" was based on a dreadnought size, this other Ferrington is more of a parlor guitar akin to those popularized by Martin at the turn of the century. Oh and one last addition: they certainly are GREAT guitars!!! Stay sensitive, Nathan dogslife@bigfoot.com "The world owes me nothing.
