[K M Case Subject: Recent Jewel sightings (print & VH1) The current NEWSWEEK which just hit newsstands, page 12, a tiny article about http:/www.mylaunch.com has a pic of Jewel on the website banner. One of the many VH1 Fashion Kingdom shows cycling all day: the one which profiles a Gucci/Tom Ford show in Los Angeles has about 10 seconds of Jewel, both with her guy and her comments on fashion. I expect it has been repeated often, and expect it to be repeated again given that it's VH1 Fashion Awards week. Mike Gonzalez speedygo@mindspring.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 13:08:11 +0100 From: Marian Veselcic Subject: Jewel show in Munich Hey y'all! So here's my review of the Munich show :-) I arrived early because of the good traffic conditions and talked to a few people there. They said Jewel'll arrive just a few minutes before the concert starts and leave immediately after the show. The 'Muffathalle' is a big hall for maybe 1500 standing people, but there were seats arranged for about 600. As the show started there were about 50 places left making a total of about 550 people. I was sitting 12th row so I hade quite a good view of the stage. The show started at 8.15pm with opening act Simon Warner (as mentioned at the shows before). He played for half an hour but it wasn't that good. The show was taped by the ARD (biggest TV station in Germany) for a small report the following morning. Unfortunately I couldn't post this to the list with such short notice At 9pm Jewel entered the hall. She was completely dressed in black fitting all the black carpets that were put on the walls. She was kind of surprised by the warm welcome she had (should I say shocked?). Her first song was 'Don't' or did anyone expect something different??? So here's the set list.... Don't Little Sister Satellite POY w/ super model story (long) New Song (maybe something like 'Kiss The Flame') Morning Song Swedish Lullaby I'm Sensitive SIBTW w/ Bob Dylan story (long) Stranger Enter From The East WWSYS Fragile Flame Near You Always Cold Song FG /w keyboard YWMFM Angel Standing By Encore: New Song (maybe italian or latin ???) Amen Chime Bells My favorite song this evening was SIBTW. It was a awesome performance of that song and maybe the best I heard so far. Followed by FG which she sung with great passion. The first unknown song was announced as written just this morning and the chorus was something like 'Kiss The Flame'. Has anybody heard of that song before or was it really written that day? The second unknown was something italian or latin (well I didn't understand the song but some words seemed familiar somehow). After the show she left in a hurry giving only a few autographs on the way to the car. Anyway it was a great evening and concert with a enthusiastic audience making a good start of the german part of the tour. Marian A German EDA PS After the show they were selling posters outside. The poster was b/w and similar to the one with the blue dress. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 13:08:15 +0100 From: Marian Veselcic Subject: Jewel show in Stuttgart Here's my next report of the german concerts.. The show in Stuttgart was SOLD OUT! But I had fourth row tickets... Well that was really bad because two of my frinds had no tickets and weren' t able to get in :-( We tried everything but there were only 350 seats and no one else was admitted even if about twenty seats were left. So I missed Simon Warner but it wasn't a great loss. As in Munich Jewel entered at 9pm wearing the same black top but different trousers (brown). Some of the people stood up and gave her some flowers and other stuff but she left all after the concert on the stage. The set list is... Don't Little Sister Everything Breaks Stranger Enter From The East Morning Song POY /w supermodel story (short) SIBTW Swedish Lullaby Satellite Cold Song 1000 Miles Away WWSYS Too Darn Hot Near You Always Frahile Flame FG YWMFM Angel Standing By Encore: Amen Chime Bells The best performances for me were Everything Breaks and Too Darn Hot. She started Too Darn Hot with the first chords to I'm Sensitive but then changed. But it wasn't a good Jewel concert in my opinion. Don't get me wrong it was a good concert at all but all the other concerts this year (I've seen 5 other shows) were better. Jewel seemed tired to me this evening just presenting her program. Maybe the audience wasn't that enthusiastic or something else...who knows? (Some people left during the show, who knows why, and walked out right in front of the stage.) In the end when the whole audience gave standing ovations she left quickly although the audience was waiting for more. Marian A German EDA PS All in all it wasn't a bad concert even if you get the impression but Munich was just far better ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 17:15:18 -0500 (EST) From: "Jay Tracy" Subject: Interview magazine - -The new Interview magazine (November '97, Charlize Theron on cover) has a small picture of Jewel on the last page; "Maxwell and Jewel backstage at the Mtv Video Music Awards" - -Also...am I the only one who *loves* this format of the digest? I don't have time, and quite frankly don't care about 98% of the stuff posted to the digest, this 'news only' format is wonderful. Anyway one this could stay like this? Maybe in addition to the regular list once it comes back up. I know there is a 'Tori-news' list, and just recently the Sarah list branched off to a 'news only' list too. Just a thought, thanks, ..jay jtracy@bics.bwh.harvard.edu ADDED NOTE FROM LIST MODERATOR: There already IS a news ONLY version of this list. It's been in existance for over a year now. It's format is quite similar to what THIS list has been for nearly three weeks now (again, this change is only temporary...it will change back withing two weeks). For more information on the Jewel-news version of this list, feel free to email me at ducksoup@spectra.net Mike :) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 09:15:46 -0700 (MST) From: K M Case Subject: Embroydered EDA shirts - Last chance to get one!
