I recieved mail from some of my closest friends, some friend's I'd drifted away from, and some people that I'd never met offering their condolences. It's really made me think. It's sad that it's so rare, and usually in times of sadness, that we evaluate ourselves and delve into our sould to find out what's really important to us in our lives, which could be tragically cut short at any moment. It is a tough burden to bear, the sadness of our departed friends and family(be they human or otherwise). I cannot express the sorrow that I feel for your losses. Now onto the other topics. Words of Wisdom. With all the hate and flames going around, I am surprised by what we see around here. This list has always been a place of calm and gentle people who have an outlook on life that is unlike many others. I am proud to be a "member"(as if this were an actual club) of this list. We show such wonderful and caring personalities that you should never feel left out. Maybe there are some in jokes every now and then, but that is normal with any group. Also think about the amount of people on this list. We have what, 1400-1500 people as members in one way or another. Let us strive to think about what they might think when we write to this list. Remember that the written word does not convey the same emotions that you might be thinking about as you type. What another person sees might not be the attitude that you wanted to convey. To go for the opposite tack. Sometimes it can be a good thing to not take everything you read seriously. Develop a thick skin to let those innocent barbs bounce off and not sink in. Turn the other cheek instead of responding to an attack. If you feel you have to respond, wait a coupla days and respond privately in a manner befitting your ideal of an everyday angel. Some of us who lurk, rarely post to try and keep down on the amount of posts to the list. It can be a burden on Jeff Wasilkos server to pass all these messages out. And Mike Connel with all that he does to try and keep the list running smoothly cannot catch everything. Let us try to stick to a topic that stays relatively close to what this list was created for and if we do go off topic, keep it simple and private. Oops! All Jewel import singles are $10.95. The rest of their selection is ALWAYS cheaper than CDnow. Their search engine requires "Last name no comma first name" format. And about that pesky Linoleum disc... It's not being released, it WAS released back in '95. Copies were printed in the thousands, NOT hundred thousands, and they're not making any more. It's a promotional CD that was distributed to radio stations and other music news media, to promote a new Atlantic artist. I'm lucky enough to have a copy and it cost me a leg. My first thought was: "Gee, I'm glad that woman is lucky enough to be around Jewel every minute of the day to see what Jewel is really like."
