I have noticed that it takes ONE flame to set the whole forest on fire. All I would like to say is: How about carrying a fire extinguisher instead of more fuel? When threads like this start, the intended "cure" is always much worse than the original problem, if even a problem ever existed. Following a simple strategy usually helps... if you need to flame or do anything closely resembling that, assume that someone ELSE will do it for you. If you want to praise, assume you are the ONLY one who wants to, and then do it privately. I guess the key word is "privately" here, since entire threads which can last weeks can easily be avoided. If all else fails, just remember that it's always a lot more fun to be loved. I love you all. Okay, I came to a disturbing revelation today, and despite the fact that I shy away from posting personal issues that may annoy other members of this list, I don't think I can find closure with this issue until I talk to you guys about it. Here goes. I haven't been exposed to many Jewel songs other than her currently released songs. But I was reading something today that brought the song "Jessica" to my attention. I went to a website where the lyrics were posted and made my shocking discovery. You'll understand when I tell you my story. In 1995-my senior year of high school- one of my best friends was killed in a car accident. We had been best friends since the third grade, and growing up she was the closest thing to a sister that I knew of. Her accident occurred less than five minutes from my house, and her car wasn't found until the morning after the accident. Her name was Jessica. (Deep breath) Several months after her death, I got a call from her mom. A few weeks earlier she had gotten a call from another one of our childhood friends. In elementaryschool, jr high and high school, Tom had been a loyal friend. He had always had a crush on Jessica, and though she didn't return the feelings, she remained a loyal friend and confidant for him. Whenever he had a problem, he would go to see her. Even when he moved to another part of the country, he called her. Because he was in another part of the country, he didn't hear about her accident. So he called her house and asked for her, and Jessica's mother had to tell him that Jessica had passed away. Shortly after the conversation, he came down and saw her grave. Then he went home. Jessica's mom called me to tell me that when he returned home, he committed suicide. So you can see why Jewel's song is freakin' me out. It took a while for me to come to some type of closure of the events that happened that year...and now this comes up.
