All these arguements as to whether or not messages with No Jewel Content should be allowed on the list is hurting our little family here. Personally, I don't mind the random "give me advice!" or "can I have some angelfood?" posts, but I also respect the fact that some people may have no interest in hearing them. I'm definitely not here to say who's opinion is right and who's is wrong; however, I'd like to make a necessary request to all of you. If you have a problem with what someone posts, e-mail them PRIVATELY and kindly ASK them (not tell them) to cut down on it. Also, for anyone who receives these requests, don't tell everyone on the list about it; handle it privately and with courtesy. Unfortunately, the overwhelming discussion about this subject has already split some of us into factions; lets not let it hurt us anymore. If everyone is ready and willing to handle these particular matters privately, then hopefully we can put an end to the arguements for good (after all, Jewel wouldn't want us fighting, would she?). If you're cool with my plan, e-mail me PRIVATELY at pmartinez@pomona.edu I'll keep everyone updated on how things turn out. Hi all: Just wondering if any EDAs in the Portland area may be thinking about a Living Room Tour date. I know that Elizabeth Hummel is playing a showcase date in Portland on October 16 as part of the North by Northwest music conference and I think Cindy Lee Berryhill is part of the NXNW weekend line-up but I don't know the date(s) for sure. Maybe if the stars are in alignment, there'll be an opportunity for a special LRT event. Anyone up on this? I have to say that I'm really disappointed in a bunch of the EDA's. This is terrible. I'm sorry Angela. It's cliche, but we as Jewel fans need to maybe listen to the song Sensitive again. There's a message there for some of you. Find a "flame list" and get your anger out there. Angela, post whenever you want. Please. I was glad that you made the offer to send copies of your music. Oh, and there's a really good reason that I'm sending this to everyone. You guys that made Angela feel this was should be freakin ashamed of yourselves. Don't take this list so seriously. It's a means of communication. Don't alienate people. That's stupid. Jewel would disown some of you, I think. gee guys. Just STOP IT!!! Thank you. Don't bother flaming me. It's pointless. I'm getting off this list I think. I'm really upset about this. It's pathetic. I'm sorry for those EDA's who are wonderful. Please keep in touch. Let me know any new info. Thanks. Shortly after Jewel is asked to do a song for the sound track of Romeo and Juliet but they didn't accept her song. It was "Face of Love" - I believe this is the name of it. Now, is it just me or doesn't "Face of Love" sound a lot like Witney Hustins (sp?) song from the Body Guard, "I will always love you"? It sounds very much like it. Maybe this is why it didn't make the cut for the Romeo and Juliet sound track. What do you EDAs think? MikeDreams - The Dreaming Angel P.S. To start: ONLY JEWEL-- Since I've been an EDA, this has been suggested many, many, many times. People thinking that ONLY JEWEL should be discussed on the list. I can personally tell you that I've even discussed this myself, but I've come to realize that if we discussed ONLY JEWEL, wouldn't that get boring? I mean, how many posts can you possibly have with ONLY JEWEL topics? Sure, we're here for Jewel, but can't we broaden our minds, and accepts other things as well. I'm looking at the EDAs as a group of people, who are not just Jewel fans, but as Angels who like a whole array of artists, including those who enjoy the music of Marilyn Manson (sp?), or Thrasher, or whatever. Who are we to suggest that those artistst are not good enough to be discussed to a moderate extent on the EDA list? As far as helping people on the list---whoa! I can't believe anybody would even suggest that this shouldn't continue. If we didn't help eachother, and those around us, we wouldn't be EveryDay Angels. We'd be just like the other heaps of newsgroups out there. Helping people is what sets up apart from all the scum of the earth, and puts us on a different level. JEWELRY-- As the 'acting' chairperson of the JEWELry project, I regret to say that there is still no action. This project is NOT DEAD! I do want to start the planning and all that again, when I am done with my marketing project and budget planning at work. Advice--Oops....I think I got carried away in the ONLY JEWEL part, and covered this already. Anyhow, I love you all, and hope everyone understands where I'm coming from. I was sitting in our dining hall eating, and Foolish Games comes over the radio that is piped into the dining hall. A guy in the middle of the hall says, "Shh shh it's Jewel." I thought about how bizarre I would have found this if this exact same thing had happened a year and a half ago. And how now it's commonplace: Jewel has a new (wait, did I just say 'new'?) number one single and her career is exploding. Congratulations, Jewel! In an interesting comparison/contrast... I was sitting in my dorm lobby yesterday at the grand piano. There was one other person in there, a nice attractive girl. I start to play Tara MacLean's Let Her Feel The Rain and she comes over and listens to me play it. She says, "That's Tara MacLean!" I'm like, wow, yeah it is... turns out she's an RA on the third floor of my dorm and her brother is on the list... she had the CD Slowbrew and that's how she knew Tara. You know, now that I think about it they do sound a lot alike. Especially the choruses. It might be because Jewel isn't used to writing love ballads like that for other people so she somewhat imitated "I will always love you" without realizing it. I dunno, on the Jewelstock tapes she just gives the explanation that the person in charge of the music for Romeo and Juliet said "it sucked." So who knows, the similarity between the two songs could be a reason that "Face of Love" got rejected. *hugs* Emily ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 04 Oct 1997 19:38:42 +0100 From: Jimmie Matsson Subject: Hi ho..
