I thought this would be easier to do since we're probably going to be spending night and day together and I could just make about 10-15 copies of the shows and trade or whatever. I will be at Gregory's show on Thursday and the All-Star Bash on Friday so maybe we'll all meet up there. I have several shows that you might be interested in. For those of you who are not going to SD and are reading this anyway, don't worry if you're interested in getting vids, I'll be posting soon to the list about them. In any case, those actually going, email me privately. See you there... I was driving around this weekend, and a song came on the radio that I've heard on the radio a couple times called "Under the Water". I've said to myself numerous times when I've heard it...Damn, that sounds like Jewel singing this...Then I heard her go into the 'rap' verse, and I was like 'naaaah'. Then the DJ said it was by Jewel. So of course, I started flipping out, because I was under the impression that FG, WWSYS, and YWMFM were the only released Jewel songs out there. Upon investigation, I guess Under The Water was on 'The Craft' CD soundtrack.... But just to let everyone know, there *IS* another Jewel song being played out there on the radio :) - -- \\\\\|///// ( o o ) - -----------------------oOOo----(_)-----oOOo---------------------------- Roger S. I have a prodject for school and was wondering if you could include you age in that? the topic of the project is "age on the internet" this isnt the net but... close enough. Phillip> Yeah. I called that hotline, and they said they couldn't special order vinyl, so I went through the Yellow Pages, and found this independent records place that buys and sells new and used CD's, cassettes, and vinyl records. I called up, and they said that they had one POY vinyl left, but I can't get in there 'til Saturday, but if that one sells before then, they can just special order it for me. Places like Tower Records are OK if you want to pick up some new CD, or something, but some non-affiliated, local place is best for collectibles, hard to find music, vinyl, etc. I hope they still have it, so I don't have to wait while they special order. I can't wait to feel it in my hands. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Catch ya later. A friend of mine was talking to Jewel's band at a concert the other day, and they aren't coming with her to either Europe or Japan, so we can expect apparently an almost entirely unplugged set, with a couple of songs on the electric guitar. Anyway, she sent me a little review, which I thought I'd forward, and to the EDAs who are mentioned - if you want to get in touch with her, contact me and I'll give you her e-mail addy (mine is michael@pta15.u-net.com) - --- Michael, She was absolutely incredible in concert!!!!!!! I had such a great time and met some really cool people... WITH E-MAIL ADDRESSES!!!!!!! ;) I won tickets from the radio station on Thursday (rigged contest, but free all the same) ;) And as I told you, it was general admission, so you had to get in line early to assure a good seat. So.... I went up to the campus at 11 am for an 8 pm show!!!!! (Honest!!!) The roadies weren't even all there and everyone thought I was insane!!! But... I was FIRST in line and sat front row!!!!!!!!! I was kind-of pissed at the security and Student Events Board. I sat there for 3 hours before anyone even showed up and I didn't bother anybody and they not only didn't let me meet her, but they were nasty to me! (assholes) Apparently she's very anti-social and shy and doesn't mingle with people. They were pissed off that she wouldn't even sign autographs for them and they set up the concert and brought her there, so in retaliation, they shit on me. That's human nature (habit) for you! ;) I did get to meet her entire band and her opening act (who she sang an incredible duet with called "You're Smart in a Stupid Kind of Way") :) after the show. It was a long day and I have a splitting headache right now. This one kid (Steve) got a backstage pass and she dedicated a song to him!!! (More on that later.) After the show I gave him a poster that I had been trying to get signed all day for you. He went back stage and spent 1 1/2 hours with her talking, but never got the autographs!!!!!!!!!! I really *did* try though!!! I asked the roadies, the security, the Student Events Board Director, and even the girl selling the shirts and tour books if they would get it signed for me. But, Jewel wasn't really into that stuff. :( A couple of things to note: They are VERY rigid about recording devices, cameras, etc. They "frisk" people and make the women show their purses and even dump them out if they can't see the bottom!!! In larger cities, they make you go through a metal detector, too!!!!! Also, they're vigilant about no photos. Several people snuck in cameras and they took the film out!!! One kid wouldn't surrender his film and they through him out!!! So, not recommended that you bring a camera!!! Tempting as it may be!!! I ran into Joey Putrock (a guy I went to college with) and he was photographing the concert for Jewel's promotion agency. He's an excellent photographer and incredibly well "connected." (He's been flown to the Grammy's to cover them for magazines, etc.!!!!!) He gave me his phone numbers and said I could call him for copies in a few days!! I'll try to hook you up with some if you want. Okay, about Steve. He's part of EDA (Every Day Angels) which is the Jewel mailing list. Basically, Jewel LOVES these people and completely caters to them!! (ie. He showed up at the concert without a ticket, and got a back stage pass and a song dedicated to him!!!!!!) Jewel even did a private concert in NY JUST for people on this mailing list!!!!! She's coming to Europe and Japan without her backup group because she isn't well established over there. So, she's DEFINITELY looking for groupies and people to promote her. IF YOU JOIN THIS MAILING LIST, YOU WILL ALMOST DEFINITELY BE WELL TAKEN CARE OF AT THE MANCHESTER SHOW!!!!!!!!!!! I'm serious. She loves them!!! Only problem is you'll get about 100 mails a day from them and alot are stupid and off topic (ie. what does she eat for breakfast, etc.) Kind-of hard for you with such limited time. BUT, you don't have to read them all to be "connected" and she not only gives backstage passes, but tickets to the shows, cd's promotional shirts, you name it!!! Here's how to join: > majordomo@smoe.org You can put anything in the "subject" but in the body of the mail you must put "subscribe Jewel" to be signed up. Also, FYI, I got her homepage and some other URL's from her tour book: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/xenomorph/jewelmn.htm www.atlantic-records.com/jewel/ www.endor.org/jewel/links/ That should keep you busy for awhile!!! :) I wrote down all the songs she sang so I could send you a play list if you want. She changes the order a lot I'm told. She did a *lot* of new material and one song in particular made me think of you and cry... "Everything Breaks Sometimes" (I think that was the title.) In fact, I thought of you all day... (I brought the cd you wrote on for YWMFM to have Jewel sign for "me" if I got the chance.) Everything Breaks Sometimes Near Me Always I'm Sensitive Morning Song ;) Passing Time You Were Meant For Me... Foolish Games Angels Standing By In her encore she sent out "Amen" to Princess Diana which was really sad... :( She talks a lot to the audience about what the songs are about, who she wrote them for, etc. She also tells the crowd to shut up an awful lot which kind of annoyed me. She apparently can't sing songs like "Amen" and "Angels Standing By" with all the high notes and harmony without complete silence in the arena. It was just rude because she actually says "Shut Up!!!" She played a 3-song set with her electric guitar and backup band and she sounded awesome!!!!! She can really rock!!!! In fact, most of her new songs are pretty heavy rockers and they're absolutely fantastic!!! Still the same old "bitter" lyrics, but she really screams and gets into them. Very different sound, but she does it very well!!! I think I'm going to like her next album even more!!! I didn't have a lot of money on me so I bought her "Participate In Miracles" poster with a glow in the dark angel (proceeds benefit AIDS research, the homeless, etc.) But, the tour book was absolutely beautiful!!!! It was small, but had the lyrics to all her songs in it and some great photos. You'll love it!!! They were $15, posters were $8, they had pins for $5 and T-shirts were $20.00 - --- Later Mike Gray E-mail : michael@pta15.u-net.com (\o/) then visit my web pages at http://www.pta15.u-net.com/mike/index.html /_\ For Gloria Estefan, Peach and Erasure information and Links! e.d.a.
