You should be able to find the vinyl at any local record store including Tower Records. If it's not on display, it can be special ordered. All you have to do is talk with the salesperson. Every record retailer has the ability to get any item that is in print through mail order or from the wholesaler that they deal with. If they don't, they're not really serious about selling records. The POY vinyl is a good collector's item, not her best, but good. What guarantees something as a solid collector's item is how "limited" the release is. I've heard the number 100,000 in print for this album from somewhere. Which is an average number for a limited release. So, all in all, the vinyl is very much a collector's item and worth the $12-$17. Moreover, if you're a beginning collector or have been in it for awhile, let me just say that vinyl has come back in full force over the last couple of years - 1997 already tripled the sales of 1995. Picture disc vinyl as well as vinyl in limited release can increase its profit within months. I've seen a mint Tori Amos "Why Kant Tori Read?" go for $300 just last year. I believe that price has doubled now. It all depends on the artist and I believe Jewel will be around forever which is why you're seeing some retailers selling "Save the Linoleum" for $100. She's taking the record/CD collecting market by storm. Well, good luck to all. Hope you find the vinyl soon. Jewel was back to her old "full of stage banter" self & she was more talkative & hilarious than she's been all year! She told quite a few long stories between songs. It was obvious she was immediately on a roll... During the second tune, POY, she went off for a good 5 minutes & had everyone in hysterics. She was really in top form on spontaneous replies to audience shouting, too. It was very obvious she was enjoying herself throughout. Also very surprising was the fact that only three songs into the show, she put down her guitar, pulled out her notebook & read brand new poetry to the audience. All of it focused on "Love" & was very well recieved. The songlist wasn't that unusual but everything was played with a lot of enthusiasm. Some of the electric set was phenomenal. She did the most ferocious versions of "Down" into "Dancing Barefoot" that she's ever played in my opinion. The EDAs were not in abundance, but I had the pleasure of seeing Ted Berberian there & met a UCONN student EDA named Ben who was working at the show. Coincidentily, they stationed him as right side soundboard security so he was like my personal bodygaurd. hehehe...... Anyway, here's the setlist. The show ran almost 2 hours. Don't Pieces of You (with extended monologue) Sometimes It Be That Way ****Poetry Reading--(All new ones. Don't know titles) I'm Sensitive Last Dance Rodeo Near You Always Daddy Deep Water - ---enter band for everything here on out--- Satellite Been Down So Long Who Will Save Your Soul Love Me Just Leave Me Alone Down Dancing Barefoot Passing Time (now with organ & cello) Carnivore Abscence Of Fear Morning Song You Were Meant For Me Foolish Games (this truly brought down the house) Encores (solo) Angel Standing By Amen Chime Bells Lets hope she continues this upswing of spontenaity tommorrow night in Lowell. Hope to see a bunch of you there! :-) MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 97 20:37:10 GMT From: st_kuo@ix.netcom.com Subject: Re: Questions??? Why should we even justify calling ourselves angels? Yes, we don't have wings grown on our backs nor halos hovering above our heads, but it's more of an attitude than any divine association. I believe that as long you have a basic goodness in your heart, have a willingness to help people and not hurt anyone, then you can become an angel too. I'm glad that Jewel calls us EDAs first and I hope we can be that way for a long time. Steven, the Angel from Mars ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 1997 02:29:51 -0700 From: jenaimarre@juno.com (Jimmy W Ou) Subject: what luck I've been having... Perhaps in the past 4 days, I've been absolutely fortunate in stumbling across just a whole load of Jewel stuff. I was at the Newport Beach Vrigin Megastore (after buying concert tickets for morrissey at the greek oct 12.. if anyone of you angels are into moz and the smiths, I know there aren't many of you if at all, but i'd love to hear from you), I stumbled across the german import of WWSYS... "Emily" is such a beautiful song. The day after, I was at a local Best Buy and out of pure luck, The Wizard of Oz Soundtrack caught the corner of my eye, and dare I must say I was ecstatic at seeing it being the Jewel version and not the Judy Garland one. (If anyone would want, I'd be more than happy to dub the Wizard of Oz sdtrk for them if they so wished... it has the single best version of "Over the Rainbow" I've ever heard.) Then just today browsing a small indie record store.. and i came up on two more fantastic finds, the Austrailian import of Foolish Games w/ Angel Needs a Ride and Everything Breaks. And along with this, I found in the used section Save the Linoleum... I can't describe the the absolute joy and shock i was in in finding this ep.. to top it off even more, it only cost me a cool 5 bucks! I couldn't be more overjoyed at finding this album used at such a cheap price.. but i was shocked and apalled that someone would actually let it go of a find like this... Out of curiosity, where did this EP come from? There's a bar across the cover that reads "Licensed for promotion only -- sale is prohibited." Was this a release from atlantic rec. strictly for radio stations or some jazz like that? And another question out of curiosity.. how limited was this release and how much would it run were it brand new? Take care all... You know what, I was just sitting here, and my parents went out of the house to play golf or something. Anyways, i was just sitting here staring into space---When, I just noticed that I'm practically the only EDA that hasn't been to a Jewel concert! I don't want anyone to pity me or anything...but I just feel like pointing it out, ya know? I mean, I think it's right to say whatever comes to mind. Except rude stuff, that is. Don't you think Jewel is such a beautiful soul? Her talent is really amazing. The last song Amen in Pieces Of You was pretty..like... WOW! I couldn't follow along on that song. When i first heard her music, tears sprang to my eyes---her songs are so full of meaning, soul and emotion. I know, I'm just wasting you time and all...but my new 'thing' is "say what you think (and post it!)" Things...sort of have more meaning to it that way. I was really excited when I read in TWIST that jewel owned a horse. it's name was Clearwater. Anyways, riding and Jewel are a big part of my life...I was so happy! I sound dorky, huh? if my friends I only see in school, see me now---they'll laugh their heads off. That's what my age is all about. I mean, isn't it? In high school and teenyboppers ALWAYS have to wear the 'right' clothes and the 'right' shoes. I think it's so stupid. But I have to follow along...or you get laughed at!!! Sometimes, when that happens, I laugh it off with my friends...but it really hurt me once. Did you know Jewel didn't care about these things in college? I think that takes guts!!! As I was saying...A LONG TIME AGO, cool concerts rarely come to Malaysia, theat's where I live. Anyways, if anyone has any info on Jewel coming to Malaysia(I check the tour dates :(), can you please tell me? i heard she was...but so not definite.
