(This is my own opinion and you are entilted to your own as well) I don't know how many of you, that are critisizing Jewel of being of being conceited, have actually listened to and thought about what "Pieces of You" means, but to me it represents how people critisize and put down the people that they see their own faults in or jealousies of. I dont know why so many people think that they should be thanked every time Jewel or anybody else for that matter gets up on stage or publicly speaks. Its not like she has ever even acted like she takes all of her fans for granted and I seldom hear or read interviews where she does not refer to her the tremendous support of her fans. To me it seems that the ones that are becoming conceited are the ones that think they should be recognized every time Jewel accomplishes something. Many of those that want to be thanked call themselves angels, but to me I understand angels to be givers that expect nothing in return, and who work in quiet and subtle ways in no need or want of recognition. To me kindness, love and support are not things that need to be given credit to, because the simple act of perfoming these should bring enough joy and happiness to fulfill any Angels desires. Now I know I can not and never will be the first person to be able to cast the stone, but maybe next time we think of critisizing someone or putting someone down we should first look at our own reflection and examine our own faults that we may be trying to put on to other people so that the focus will not be on ourselves. And for those of you who still liked to be recognized and given credit to for your support and kind deeds...do you ALWAYS thank those that are kind to you...a person who holds a door open for you...a stranger who is kind to you for no apparent reason...your mom or dad for buying supper or carrying for you..your friend for being there...or a person that inspires you and teaches and incourages you to dig deep into your thoughts and the thoughts of others, and then with a couple of words lets you know that you are not alone ...how many times have we let these Angels and many others go unthanked? For those that have taken the time to read this(thru bad spelling, format, and every other grammatical rule I have broken)..I thank you For my own personal everyday Angels that help me when I need it, even when I feel I dont need it...I thank you and For Jewel, an Angel that has unknowingly inspired and taught me some of the most valuable things I will probably ever learn and with a couple of words can make me feel so not alone...I thank you and oh yeah for any of you that respond to me privately thru emial and not the list...I thank you, and I'm almost positive that many others will thank you too. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Sep 1997 23:17:23 -0700 From: Sinjin Subject: Jewel on VH1 As I was flipping through the channels I caught a glimpse of Jewel on VH1, she was being interviewed at some AIDS fundraiser. It wasn't until I really decided, talent or no talent, I have to do what makes me feel like a real person."~ Jewel on how her love of music motivated her to go after her goals. First, the sjc: I would like to get list made of those attending the Jewel show near Albany, NY on the 13th. I will be going, and currently have 3 spaces open in my car, so if anyone in the NJ/MD/eastern PA area is thinking of going, and needs a ride let me know. :-) Those going from the nyc area, is there a plan to meet ahead of time anywhere, or are we all meeting outside the venue? Second, is anyone planning on going to Toronto to see Emm Gryner and Sarah Slean at C'est What on the 20th? Gian has told me much about this, and I am really looking forward to seeing Emm again, not to mention those crazy canalien EDA's! :-) For those who were at the Canalian Lilith Fairs, Emm Gryner performed on the 2nd stage. She also has a cd out, called Original Leap Year, which I highly recommend!! I haven't seen or heard much from Sarah Slean, but from Gian's recommendations on Tara, Emm, and Dayna Manning, I'd definitely have to trust him when he says that she's awesome!! Hope y'all can make it!! Please send email replies to BoomaBoy@aol.com Thanks!!
