YOu did not start liking Jewel for what she looked like you started cuase she makes beautiful music. Its just an added bonus that she is so pretty. I'm sure everyone of us has flaws. I have never heard Jewel insult one of her fans and we should not be critizing her for what she wears or how much makeup she has on. We are all different and Jewel is just a normal person who is incredibly talented. She is not a piece of meat and we should not be looking at her and saying "if only she didnt wear so much makeup" Jewel is Jewel and we should all love her because the kind of person she is, not what she looks like. Well I am brazilian, and I ( really )love too Bananarama ( some of you may remenber about Them, they are still together, as a duo, working on a Re-Re-Release of Venus, Venus '97, and a new album, wich will sound harder, like The Prodigy ), Like The Cure too, Madonna, U2, Cindy Lauper, The Prodigy, U2, No Doubt, Spice Girls and others. I relly like Jewel's music, as a coincidence she looks like an ex-girlfriend of mine, the first time I saw Jewel was in her Video of You Were Meant For Me, she really looked like my ex ( I was still with her in that time, we broke up this last Wednesday ), them I saw her Pieces Of You in a CDstore, and bought it, so after hearing some tracks of the albun, I felt in love for her music, well this was a couple of weeks ago, that time I was so Bananarama-New-Realese-And-Looking-For-Theyrs-Singles-Obcessed that I didn't have time to look for others Jewel's stuffs. So it's time to say bye. From Carlos Eduardo rosas@heniq.com.br PS. I am looking for Jewel's You Were Meant For Me and Who Will Save Your Soul Cdsingles, if anybody want to trade for others things. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Sep 1997 00:10:14 -0400 (EDT) From: Unknown Subject: Jewel conceited, who cares!!! About the makeup, conceit and the not thanking the fans issues, who cares. I read approx 50 posts a days about how great she is, how much we love her, and how much we would love to be like her. We idolize her and put her on this pedastal for us to worship. I don't know Jewel but based on what I've seen, the poems and lyrics I've read, the songs I've listened to, she portrays herself as a struggling, insecure girl/woman trying to deal and understand her own feelings and problems. In her poems and lyrics she has never written about being perfect, but actually the opposite, and yet we seem to think that she is perfect and incapable of making mistakes. In fact, a lot of her songs are about her mistakes and how she is learning to deal with them. I guess thats why she calls her writing therapy as it helps her to understand her life better. I can't speak for Jewel, but I think she would be happier knowing that her fans were spending all their time and energy trying to better their own lives rather spending it idolizing her's. In fact, she is always heard saying that she hopes that her music has inspired fans to live their own dreams and passions. It seems that it's gotten to the point where we second guess her every move, and if that move doesn't please us, we criticize her. Lets remember its her life and she is living it for herself and not for us. Personally, I'm happy if Jewel does movies or whatever. Its rewarding to know that some get to do what they love and I really think that Jewel is happy and just having fun at this point. She's enjoying everything that is happening to her and if I were her, i would too. Who knows, it could all end tomorrow. And its not because of the money and fame. I know that discovering her music has changed my life for the better and based on all the websites, this mail list and all the fans she has, others feel the way. I love her music as much as the next person and really admire her as a human being, but I wouldn't want to be her, I would rather just be me. John, not an angel, maybe someday, just a struggling human being. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #715 ***************************
