And I noticed towards the end of the song, they mentioned Tupac...which was nice I think. (For those of you who might not understand the significance of the above statement issued at or around 8:30pm Eastern Time in the United States, aside from and above the fact that at any time of the day or night for no apparent reason someone is likely to say that here on this Jewel list, you should know that Jewel Kilcher, Our Favorite Angel, has just finished her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. She walked out onto stage, all by herself, with her acoustic guitar, and publicly announced that she had been planning to play "Foolish Games" but instead was going to play "Angel Standing By", because she thought that that was more apropos for the moment or the mood or whatever. She then proceeded to do so, to play her song "Angel Standing By", a song which probably most of the audience had never heard or at least didn't recognize when she started playing it, but which was universally cheered BY ALL IN ATTENDANCE by the end of the song. I guess that we all owe a collective apology to the list owners and moderators of this list for wasting all of their valuable time and bandwidth in the last two weeks worrying about whether or not Jewel was still in control of her music and still capable of contributing to that which had gotten her to the place where she is:) ). I guess, to kind of answer that question that that Jewel review in "Entertainment Weekly" asked a few weeks ago: yes, FIVE MILLION (oops!!)xxxx SIX MILLION FANS **CAN** BE WRONG ..... BUT THEY'RE NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) [P.S. I liked her performance, if that's not immediately apparent from the above:) ] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Sep 1997 20:44:42 -0400 (EDT) From: VCavallo@aol.com Subject: Jewel, THAT REBEL!!!!!
