Nancy, Chelsey, Kaili and Tom hope you will come. Although our house is much smaller than the house we were in for the Hot Dog Fest it should be cozy and comfy for 20-30 people. A donation of $10 would be appreciated. Scheduled to play are Lisa Sanders, Elizabeth Hummel, and Cindy Lee Berryhill. Nancy has invited Steve to come hang out but I don't know how busy he'll be with recording his new cd. Even if you have been to another Living Room Tour recently each one is unique and entertaining. A definite time hasn't been set but we're looking at somewhere around 4 or 5 P.M. Our address and phone number are below and if you need more directions just call or email us and I'll attach a detailed map. 34445 Calle Carmelita Capistrano Beach, Ca 92624 714 443-3623 Erick Altman (bodyguard), Erick Garske (free beer), (mandolin) Mark, Mark and Mary Olmos (Alanis), James Reach (John Anson Ford), Sinjin (Hasselhoff), Larry (Kookyb?chupacabra), Igor (recluse), Mandy (Pamela Lee), John-Eric (hotfoot), Crazy Lora and Natalie (Thelma and Louise), Neal Tsay (Mr. Baseball) and anyone else who'd like to come. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Aug 1997 20:21:34 -0600 From: ehicks@flash.net Subject: SJC: that damn movie subject Hey everyone! I haven't been home really at all for the past couple weeks (damn that social life thing ;) but I felt like staying home tonight and I haven't posted in a while so here goes. Anyway, first of all I wanted to talk about the whole "Jewel a movie star" thing even though the subject might be a little old. I personally will be pissed off beyond belief if she ends up doing movies. As an actor, I don't appreciate it when people that are already famous due to music or (especially) modeling decide that they want to act. You can't imagine how many times I've thrown stuff at my TV when I'm watching some show where they're interviewing models and they say "well I really like modeling, but I really want to act." GRRRR!! People like this are the reason that Hollywood is such a pile of s**t. So Jewel has a f**cking incredible voice. So she's an awesome person. So she's wise beyond her years. This doesn't mean that she's an actor! Actors spend years and years taking acting and theatre classes to try and perfect their craft, and it is not appreciated when someone comes along and says that they want to be a "movie star." Because movie stars are far different from actors. I know that most of the community theatre I've seen contains much better acting than most movies I've seen. People that have a passion for acting, be it theatre or movies, are actors. People that are famous and decide that movies would be "fun" and something they want to try out are not. So I know this whole thing is kinda disorganized and might not make a whole lot of sense to you, but hey, that's how my thought process works so... Oh and another thing. Well I know that a few other people have written and said that this happened to them too, so I just wanted to share this. I have Chem first period and I'm always falling asleep in it. So today I was falling asleep when I perked up to hear my teacher say "Joule" (pronounced Jewel). I dunno, it's some temperature related thing, don't ask me I sleep in that class. Anyway... *hugs* Emily ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Aug 1997 20:21:36 -0600 (MDT) From: J Oveson Subject: JRTP Mike, I got your tape today and will mail tomorrow. I really don't want all those songs to be thrown out, never to be heard by the public. If we did it often enugh it might help. We could even boycott ALL albums released by Atlantic artists untill Jewel's long overdue album is released. So, does anyone have an email address for Atlnatic records? Does anyone else think this might work? In fact, I'm what you called a casual R.E.M. fan (I like many of their songs though I never purchased their album) and I admire Micheal Stipes & Co. cuz they seem to be genuine in their songs and the way they conduct themselves (canceling their European tour just cuz their dummer was illed was really a class act). I was just speculating that the main reason (point someone else brought up) Atlantic Records like other record companies tried to max out the profitability of a successful album like PoY is due to the astronomical amount of money they paid to other "proven" artists. R.E.M. probably deserve the money that is due to them but others are just an excess waste of money that may have contributed to the consistently high price we pay for compact discs (they originally promised that it will come down in the future but it never comes).
