Anyone know a solution to this problem? Also, I'm kind of ambiguous about starting an online fight with a Jewel-basher over at the newsgroup. Is it a mobilized effort by a group of naysayers or just a lonely moron? (sorry for the language :) It could turn out to be ugly...imagine dozens of letters arguing over one man's opinion! But if we do it as EDAs and just overwhelm the newsgroup, we may just win Jewel a battle over the internet! ;) Well if I can just get into that newsgroup (which one is it again?) I think I will post something as an EDA in defense of Jewel, her character, and her music. You were the only other EDA I saw at the show also. I had talked to at least 10 different EDA's before hand but our pathetic attend at a gathering was doomed from the start. Sorry I missed you Dan, Chuck, Aaron, Heavy, Jeff, Katie, Dave, and whoever was there or wasn't. Anyway I was a little disapointed at the show. This was my first real big festival concert and I guess they just aren't for me. But Jewel was great and so was the Indigo Girls, Sarah, Shawn, And Dar. I really didn't enjoy meridith brooks oh well. Unfortuately my recorder only got a half of song before it just died. My pictures are really crappy too. anyway I had a good time. Oh yeah! I couldn't find my car afterwards. That sucked. For those of us going, I have a plan for this wonderful event... Here is the vital info... 1. Where we will meet: South Station, right inside the doors. For those of you taking the T, take the red line to South Station. When coming out of the turnstyles, go left and up the stairs. There is construction going on around there, so you have to follow the pedestrian ways. Go kind of to the right and it wraps around to go the opposite direction you were walking when you came up the stairs. You'll see South station up ahead. It's the brick building with glass doors. It's hard to miss. You can wait right inside. There is a hotel reservation phone thing that is right there, and that may be a good place to wait. Just don't block it. If you are driving, you may want to park at Harborlights, if you get there early. It's first come, first serve. Otherwise, you can find around $6.00 parking in little lots. For directions to S. Station from where you park, ask the attendent. For directions to Harborlights, check out the web page: www.harborlights.com 2. When we will meet: 5:30 PM The show starts at 7:30, or at least that's the time on the tickets. Albert pointed out that it may be cutting it too close to eat beforehand. We'll hang around and wait for stragglers until about 6:00. Then we will head over to the venue. Looks like there may not be a soundcheck, as I heard that they've been rehearsing under the tent for a few days. We can hang out nearby and see some stuff or go into the venue and look for famous people. (Tanya Donnelly, Rivers Cuomo, and others were at Radiohead last weekend...maybe we'll run into the legendary MrBB, who knows?) I am going to try to get there by 5:00, but no promises. I'll try to have someone be there who knows what's up in case i'm late. I don't know how early I can get out of work, but I'll make it for 5:30. I'll have either a Radiohead shirt or my fav Safe & Sound shirt, and a backpack. 3. Where we will eat afterwards: Three Cheers or The Spaghetti Factory Chris Snyder suggested the S.F. I've never been there, so we are in for a surprise. But it is within sight of the Harborlights tent, so it makes it easy to get to the show afterwards. Three Cheers is more of a brewhouse/restaurant I guess, so that makes for a better atmosphere I think, but we can decide then. It is also nearby. 4. Gimmick: None currently This could change very quickly. I wanted to make a t-shirt that said: "I attended Harborlights : Jewel Unstocked '97 and all I got was a lousy yodel" but I had no time ;) If you have any questions or suggestions, just email me with Harborlights in the subject. If you have a change in your plans, just drop me a line so I can account for you. I'll try to check mail during the day tomorrow. Thanks. - chris (So over-ly excited I could burst) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Aug 1997 00:11:38 -0400 From: Jonders Subject: Re: Jewel's Games Aren't Foolish I'd have to disagree about the Foolish games evolving. Truthfully, i think FG has been sliding down hill in terms of artistic progress. She loses control of the song, and lets it's natural rythm slip away. Especially the one from the B+R soundtrack. It is a damn shame...and quite a disappointment. The POY version, remains the most heartfelt, raw, and musically stable version that she ever recorded! If so, anyone know where I can get tickets? Thanks, - -Chris ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #676 ***************************
