How wonderful, I hope she makes it far. I heard that she was going to be signing, so i waited around for a few minutes but she didnt show up in that time, so I went to see Emmylou Harris. I almost bought Patty Griffin's CD but didn't and now I'm regretting it . Any one know where I can get a copy? As one of the co-organizers of JewelStock 96 I know what it takes to do this and also have had contact with Jewel's management since and know that a second one if at all possible is in the distant future. The chances of another Jewelstock within the next year or two is really quite slim, basically for a number of logistical reasons that all work against it. Someone recently asked Alan & I privately about the possibility of another one, and I'm going to try to dig up our responses to post to the list, as they spell out many reasons which show why talk of a second one now is quite pointless. Posting about how it should happen and where and such is really all wasted speculation as none of it even remotely in our hands, it will all be up to Jewel and her management anyway, just as it was last summer. Those with either low tolerance for humor or little patience please MOVE ALONG NOW, NOTHING TO SEE HERE.... ;-) *** Well, list memberships for the Harris Clan are for the most part closed, so we took three "sidekicks" recently (Lauren Bond, Chris Moynihan and Mia Vlah). This weekend, we also began recruiting family pets and livestock -- Amy adopted Kookybaka as the family pooch (okay, Larry, okay - -- family WOLF), and Bill "the previously quiet guy" Bartholomew was so impressed with Selena (aka, the List Goddess) at her Pennsylvania Living Room Tour show that he volunteered to be her monkey -- not knowing that she's an original Harris. So Bill is now our new OFFICIAL Harris Clan monkeyboy... (and a very fine one at that) ;-) (This of course means that Paul Kim is now available on waivers. Call for details if you're interested in a slightly used but perfectly serviceable monkeyboy...) After chanting "baa baa baastard" non-stop at no fewer than four Living Room Tour shows, Ali and Kim (EDA Wilson) joined the family flock as the Bubble Blowing Black Sheep. CindyLee Berryhill was so impressed by their bubble blowing prowess at the final LRT show Sunday that she added them to the LeRTs (newly acquired EDA tour back-up singers Shelly, Liz and Duff). Actually, the Black Sheep pulled the wool over CindyLee's eyes and SNUCK onto the stage. (Same difference!) CindyLee's "skip song" now REQUIRES a plethora of airborne bubbles for her to chase after! :-) Needless to say, the Crunch Clan suffered severe attrition with the defection of Ali and Kim. Seems Crunch now has Jon Reade as his entire franchise... which makes Crunch the Boston Celtics of the EDA world! ;-) (Time to rebuild, buddy. Is it something about the artists that >>remind themabout Jewel? Does Jewel perform? Im fairly new (since may) and >>ive been wondering this for a long time.<< Why do EDAs attend the LRT shows? Well, we created the tour and are hosting the shows! EDAs actually INVENTED the Living Room Tours back in April in Boston. Elizabeth Hummel and CindyLee Berryhill (both San Diego-based musicians and friends of Jewel) had an open date and Larry "Kookybaka" hooked them up with the Snyders. 12 of us attended an intimate FOUR HOUR concert that Mr. BB taped. It has been released to the list, along with the five song set performed by Steve Poltz and Stinky (Rugburns) at the San Diego EDA Hot Dog Fest as FUTURE FOLKLORE VOLUMES ONE AND TWO. The Current LRT tour was held in EDA homes across the northeastern US and a final show in British Columbia later this month. These shows were phenomenal. They actually rival JewelStock as THE EDA list musical event of all time. The musical world isn't just Jewel vs. the rest of 'em... there's also the ones Jewel came up through the ranks with. Getting to know these talented artists has been a blast! Even more important, we've been seeing old list friends, and making new ones! The support Jewel gets from her EDAs fascinates both the media and other musicians. Expect to hear much, much more about the "Living Room Tours" in the future... While my boyfriend and I waited in line, we started talking to some really kewl, dedicated Jewel fans (people who really deserve to be EDAs but arent). Finally, the moment came for the doors to open and for the tix to be sold. The first people got front row, center. Damn them. So, we figured that we were doing pretty well in line. The second person comes out and looks disgusted. Eighth row, far right side. To make a long story short, we ended up getting second row balcony seats, instead of the closer seats we expected. Wouldn't it make sense to let the people who waited three or four hours get the better seats, rather than the people who roll out of bed around 9:30 and call up Ticket Master? That is why I am in a bad mood. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 1997 14:34:34 -0400 (EDT) From: Happykid44@aol.com Subject: TICKETS I need 2 tickets to the jewel concert in holmdel NJ on aug 30 if any one has tickets please e mail me at happykid44@aol.com thanks Irc Nickname : lovejewel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 1997 14:55:32 DST From: pres2@juno.com (Phillip a brady) Subject: Re: I noticed something in Foolish Games about a year ago. This weekend I am going to San Diego to an air show. While I am there I want to visit as many Jewel spots as I can. So Please help me with some Jewel spots I should check out and if possible the addresses and directions. I live in L.A. and don't know San Diego at all. I will try to find the Denny's Jewel said she washed her hair and the K-mart she frequented. I believe those were on Mission and Gabriel? Can someone confirm this please? I'd also like to find the Innerchange Coffe House and Java Joes. Anyone know how to get there? I am really interested in visiting the parking spot Jewel used to park her van at. Jewel said it was right next to some bushes with flowers because she didn't want anyone to see in and could smell the nice scent of the flowers. Anyone have an address? By the way, does Jewel still own that van? I would love to buy it off herif it's for sale! I'd like to drive by Jewel's new house she bought down there too! Address anyone? Thanks in advance! I would just like to say that I had a wonderful time watching Jewel perform for the very first time. Although the traffic and rain held us up for 4 hours, the wait was definately worth it! I was fourth row center! It was beautiful.....she is beautiful! I am sorry for not meeting up with the EDA's before the concert...the traffic was killler! I was just wondering.... Does anyone by chance know where I could get a tape of the Lilith Fair Concert or just Jewel? Or possibly some pictures of her.....my camera broke from the rain.... I tried something suggested to me. FlashBack: I downloaded Quiet Warrior from an audio page & it turns out its a RealAudio Movie(thats cool!). The downside, it won't work with just a RealAudio player :( I tried switching the .rm to .ra & that only accomplished to freeze up my computer :( Does anybody have a taping of Quiet Warrior, cause the stupid computer won't run it. Ive gotta download a huge file(like 28 MB) for the RealAudio Movie player....its a big hassle, thats what it is. SideNote: to all that are going to Lora's Beach party the weekend of Sept. 20th...I can only make it if its on the 21st cause of work. A JewelStock2? Like Albert Wang said, its probably going to come out of the sky at random. Im guessing the earliest time would be either around Christimas or early Spring time. I had bought a small bouquet of flowers with two sunflowers in it. I walked around all day at the show with it trying to figure out a way to give it to Jewel. Anyways, I had asked a couple of workers and they said ask the guys wit h the headsets, so as soon as Jewel came on, I asked one of them. They precede d to have me wait for a few minutes as another one arrived. He then preceded t o lead me toward the front of the stage, but he told me, "we can't put anything in the center of the stage, so it'll be set to stage right". Anyways, as long as I got to give her the flowers. We reacher the front right of the stage and there was another security guard there sitting. The guy that led me had me give the flowers to him, in which he placed it on stage right by a monitor. I was bummed for obvious reasons. Anyways, I went back to my seat hoping she'd see the flowers, but she always faced the other way. Started walking toward them then turned around. Her show ended and she walked off stage. After a couple of minutes I noticed that the flowers were gone. I'm pretty sure a stage hand grabbed the flowers, so hopefully she got them. Is there a way that I can find out whether she got them or not. If not, I'm going to try again in Cleveland, if its not sold out. Thanks for listening to my jibberish, cheezy story. - -Jeff- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 1997 13:41:31 -0400 From: William Pompilii Subject: Burgettstown & Scranton Lilith Fair Hi everyone, I had a wonderful time treking across Pennsylvania to see Jewel! It is used but in very good condition (ie. not scratched or scuffed). I paid $8 for it and will sell it for $10. That will cover the envelope and the shipping. Just in case you're not sure what it is....the Spew+ disc has the Jewel CD track "I'm Sensitive". When put into a computer, the disc also has a video interview with Jewel, poems, and a 30 sec or so clip of the WWSYS video. Oh yeah, the disc also contains tracks (and computer stuff) by CIV, Collective Soul, Dragmules, Rusty, The Inbreds, Sugar Ray, Jill Sobule, and James Carter. They won't give us tapes of Jewelstock, and they won't let us reverse-engineer it. I mean, Garth Brooks just did a free show in Central Park and most of the people there weren't even on his mailing list.
