Hehehehe. Mindi (my sister) was the quieter one. Actually, she talks a lot at home and with our friends but not usually when she just meets someone. :-) Oh and BTW, I LOVED the Lilith Fair!!!! That was our first time to see Jewel actually in the SAME AREA as us!! She has never been that close to us. :-) As soon as she walked on stage we both started screaming and cheering!! It was so amazing to be that close (of course we were in the uncovered reserved section so we were not NEAR as close as oh say Derrick (in the words of Tien "Damn him for getting 5th row seats ;) :)") or even as some of the others who were lucky enough to get in the covered section. :-( But of course we still were just happy to be there. I sure hope that I get to see her in concert some time soon again. Maybe then I'll be smart enough to actually call early enough to get seats that are as good as oh say Derrick (again in Tien's words, "Damn him for getting 5th row seats ;)") Sorry I stole your little phrase, Tien, but I just loved it so much...hehe. Me and Mindi couldn't stop laughing while reading your letter. Oh, BTW, has anyone scanned that photo that was taken of all of us afterwards? I'd really like a copy sent to me if so. Our mom is dying to see the pics...as are we of course...as well as any others taken of Jewel that night. Does anyone have any of those scanned, or any that we can get actual copies of sent to us? We would like to have both if thats possible. I have already asked Derrick (here I go again..I just have to! "Damn him for getting 5th row seats ;) :)") to send me copies of the ones he took but I'd like all that I can get of her at the concert...or any from Rockfest, etc. that are good. Though I am just as angry as everyone else is who read this garbage, I was forced to realize that the people who write "this garbage" are being paid, and I am sure there are 10's of 10's of John Denver fans who scream bloody murder when he gets a bad review. But hey... not everyone will love Jewel right? (though I couldn't see why not....) Personally, if everyone in the world literally was as big a Jewel lover as I or all of you are, I would feel pretty darn insignificant as an EDA... we're a special group, and I sure wouldn't like this mailing list to have 5 billion subscribers....think of all the clutter! ;) The bottom line is, Jewel will continue to be successful, whether or not she gains a single other fan. I mean hey, Jesus got a bad rap too when He was on earth, huh? ;) Not everyone can accept Beauty for what it is, be it Jewel or anyone or anything else. I'm just happy that we all can. :) Thanks for entertaining my opinions (no pun intended) Brian -- the Angel that Thinks a Lot brianbc@geocities.com "'I just gave you an onion, one little onion, that's all, that's all...!'" -- The Brothers Karamazov ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Aug 1997 13:35:24 -0700 From: "Adrian du Plessis" Subject: EDAC: get ready for the start of the west coast LRT -- first stop, Salt Spring Island Just wanted to remind everyone that is planning on coming to Salt Spring Island, British Columbia (yep, that's Canada) for the August 29 Living Room Tour date of Cindy Lee Berryhill and Elizabeth Hummel, let me (Adrian) know ASAP how you're travelling and what sort of accomodation you prefer. Hello it's me Christy again! Hello my angels! I haven't written in awhile, because I've been having some family problems. First of all I'd like to say that it gives me great joy in seeing this list the way it used to be. I love you guys, and I'm glad we got everything under control. I love you guys and right now you are all I have. I don't know if you guys remember the last time my parents had problems. I wrote about it to the list, and so many of you were really really kind to me. Now, my Dad is leaving tomorrow. Knowing my parents, my Dad will find some way to come back or not leave at all. But this time it's different. My Mom is set in her ways now. She's convinced that the marrige is over. But my Dad can lay on the guilt, and it's not easy to turn him away. I know it's going to be hard. I'm not sure what to do. Now, he's laying the guilt on me. He's saying that he's going to leave for Texas(we live in California) and that I wont see him a lot. That's my Dad's way of getting me to feel bad. I do, but I don't want to live in the hell that I've been living in for my whole life. It's just not fair. I can't barely get to sleep anymore, and when I'm not asleep I'm crying, or staring into space. What do I do? It's hard to grasp the concept of everything being over. I'm only 14, but I know what hell is. I hate it. I hate it. But, I can't make my Mom give up my Dad. I'm sorry to keep going on like this, but I guess I'm just crying out to you guys so that I can talk. I don't like to keep things in, and that's what I've been doing. I can't do it anymore. Like many of you, I read the awful review of POY in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. I'm just confused as to how someone can say that Jewel is the most lightweight of the Lilith Fair performers when Jewel wasn't even at the show David Browne (the reviewer) was at. I think that everyone is entitled to their opinion and if he doesn't care for Jewel then, oh well. But I think you need to listen to something more than once before you go bashing it in a national magazine. I was considering e-mailing the reviewer and letting him in on my thoughts. If anyone else wants to do the same the address is: letters@ew.com The reviewer's name is David Browne and you must include your name, address, and daytime telephone number. I think all of the EDA's should let him know how we feel. Thanks for listening. It started out with Jewel, the ever so talented woman that I simply adore, with a little too much make up on (why did she even wear make up?!). Strumming on her nice little blue guitar, she sang "Who Will Save Your Soul". Then, Regis and the little miss innocent Kathie Lee began to ask her question and whatnot. They were just acting completely shallow about the whole thing, making various jokes about her being "too deep" for them to understand her. They kept interupting everything that she was saying so that they could make one of their little 2 cent comments or lame ass jokes. Regis asked her to yodel, and for a split second, I watched Jewel's face fall into a grimace, but she still did it. Then, she began playing "You Were Meant For Me", but the show went right to a commercial after she sang about three lines of it. I apologize for this horribly long rant, but I expected so much better. I guess that's the kind of crap I should come to expect on American television. ~melissa~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Aug 1997 10:02:32 -0400 (EDT) From: rIver Subject: Jewel in MASS. So I woke up, and watched it on the tape. After taking one look at Jewel, (I had to sit down) I noticed that she looked a bit different. Then when I heard that she was singing WWSYS, I knew this was from at least a year ago. Then when the interview started, I could tell this was more then 2 years ago. It seemed like one of Jewel's first interviews, because she seamed a little bit uncomfortable with talking on national TV, if you can call Regis and Kathie Lee national TV. She seemed to speak much faster then normal, but she managed to elude the hosts with words, to answer their questions, which proves that Jewel is much smarter the not only the hosts, but the audiance as well. They said at the end, that she is begining to tour with another person, I forgot who they said. At the end, Regis asked Jewel to sing one more son, so she started singing YWMFM. After "Everything but you," they cut to the promo. This was cool to watch, for classic Jewel, but not the interview. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Aug 1997 11:12:31 -0400 From: "Rachel :D" Subject: NJC: To all Canada Lilith Fair goers... There were an impressive number of EDAs at both the Cape Cod and Raynham shows and throughout the experience I found myself at a loss for words to express the marvel of the experience. There were EDAs from all over- off the top of my head: Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, New Hampshire, of course Massachusetts, and Germany! From my first EDA gathering at the first EDA Cafe at the Snyders', made possible by our own lovable lawyer Larry in April, the LRT has come quite a way from its start on a blustery rainy night once upon a time. There were so many people at the Massachusetts shows, some I had met back at the original EDA Cafe, some at Bearsville, some for the very first time here. There is something absolutely wonderful and beautiful about following one's dreams and Elizabeth Hummel and Cindy Lee Berryhill were amazing to watch. Both performances were different and both were unique experiences to be remembered for a long time. They are both wonderful people and the LRTs are an experience that should not be missed! You'll be sorry if you do! Now if we can only get tapes or CDs of the Best of the LRT, that'd be something! ^_^ Much love and thank yous to Elizabeth and Cindy Lee who once again put on such an incredible unforgettable experience, Alan and Amy Jo for having us over for the Cape Cod show, Amy Jo's parents who in the words of Alan "are the real hosts but aren't around", Rich and Laura (Dennis' friends) who hosted the Raynham show, Alan's friends Peter and other names I've unfortunately forgotten who supplied and setup the killer sound system, our lovable lawyer Larry Greenfield, Liz & Shelly, Selena & Tom, Amy, Mike Connell, Jeff the list owner, Ali, Kim, John Reade who supplied us with much laughter, Dennis "Baaaa" Harris, Crunch, Ted and Tessa Berberian, Kendrick, Matt, Jared, Marco and Marion the brothers from Germany, the revered Snyders (Jack, Karen, and Chris) in whose living room the legend was started, Bill Bartholomew and Chris Moynihan who were my most excellent travel compadres, and everyone I may have inadvertently forgotten to list at this moment in time. ^_^;;; I always remember a face, but I may not always remember a name and right now there are a number of faces I don't have names to. ^_^;; Together, we all made this past weekend as wonderful an experience as it was. I miss you all and hope to see some of you again at future gatherings, concerts, or LRTs. :) To me, it's events like these that are the defining moments of who we are. It gives the words "Everyday Angels" meaning beyond measure. I am also reminded of what Larry said a while back- "We started out as fans of Jewel and then became fans of each other." It is amazing to me how far we've all come. :) Sometimes the world is a truly wonderful place. Ok, I'm going to the gathering at the hotel, but can't make it 'till Friday sometime. I've never met any of you guys before, so how will I know who is who? :) How much $ will the rooms be per day? I know a lot of you are going to the concert that day, but some of you won't be. If you aren't, where will you be?? (What room #'s are we staying at?) If you guys are doing anything that night, what time should I get to the hotel at? (I'm only 17, so I can't get into bars and stuff ...) Okey. That's it. I'm outta questions for now. ;) Thanks all. Bye bye. Anyone know about this? I just visited the PBS web site to no avail. I believe the post said it would be in the earlier part of this month which means it may have happened already (but there is always repeats :) ).
