Bartholomew) Subject: Re: Dream Concert well, i haven't been to enough venues of variety to pick a good one, but i'd have to lean towards either a small outdoor amphitheatre like the one in thorenden park on the hill in syracuse, ny, or a small bar like the chameleon club in lancaster, pa. only the stage at the bar would have to be a bit bigger for performers to run around on. like the avalon in boston...actually, that's a cool place for a show. obviously, there wouldn't be a huge crowd like a stadium... maybe 300 max. in attendance. the artists in order (not including jewel...or i mother earth because edwin has left the band): heather nova - what a great way to start a dream concert! an an angel in her own light. plays 45-60 minutes. patty griffin - brings everyone back down to earth and shows us intimacy and soul. 45-60 minutes. neil young - starts out for 30 min. of acoustic storytelling, then brings out the 'ol standby's "crazy horse" to start the show rockin'. 90min. total minimum. the tea party - following in neil's footsteps, start acoustic with alhambra type renditions for maybe 20-30 minutes. then start kickin' with "edges" and "tx" material to put the night into overdrive. 90 min. our lady peace- i think gianny will agree that these guys have all it takes to be bigger than anything in the states (so why aren't they?). 90 minutes of music from this band will leave you exhausted. jump on the band wagon now, while they're still low key in america. cd's: "naveed" and "clumsy." do your soul a favor and give 'em a listen. granted, it's alternative to alternative, but they've got a spirit and vibe all they're own. rare stuff nowadays...you'll notice that not one of their songs is one that gets skipped when spinning one of their cd's. catherine wheel-i've vowed never to miss an opportunity to see this band when they come near. not amazing stuff recorded, but definitely on their own plane when performing live...90min. plus, they are the perfect warm up to... the tragically hip - now folks, i must tell you first, that i like music. i consider listening to music a hobby. and i'm also spazzy when hearing music that "get's to me." i hope that doesn't freak you all out. i'm just bottled energy when not listening to music. and then there's the occational 'hip concert that i get to and let it all out. this band is without a doubt my favorite. their range in musical style over the years has changed gradually while remaining true to their roots with each subsequent release. i'm not going to say much more about them...i'll let you all listen to them and form your own opinion. if you like basic, in your face, old time rock and roll, start with "up to here" or "road apples." if you're into song meanings and anthemic stuff, try "fully completely" or "day for night" (many consider this their crowning achievement). but all of their cd's are worth picking up. simply amazing. ***************************************************************** i hope this wasn't too long and involved, but i just couldn't give you seven artists without some reasons. music means too much to me to do that. i like to share stuff that touches me, but i have a hard time doing so...music is one way i find easy to accomplish this task. i hope i didn't take up too much space and that this wasn't an unwelcomed post. bill b ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jul 1997 11:21:46 -0700 From: Gerrit Kruidhof Subject: [Fwd: Today's the Day - The Lilith Fair] This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - --------------D285058BC4F370ED4A3FBC32 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit To those of you who don't know, SonicNet is broadcasting the Lilith Fair today live.
