Clear as day and carefully enunciated she sings Modiglianis. That is, you're absolutely right about Jewelstock tape THREE. But she does not, I swear, sing Modiglianis on tape ONE. Please, please, listen again everyone, one version right after another, and tell me what the hec she says on tape ONE. Thx, Jules P.S. One of the locations is in Houston, TX at the Woodlands Pavillion (just north of Houston on I-45). This takes place on Sunday, August 3. Gates open at 3:00pm, show starts at 4:30pm. An EDA gathering is being planned for this and there are already several who either have tickets or plan on getting them. This won't be as big a gathering as Rockfest, but just something where a few of us can join one another and have a great time while enjoying Jewel's performance. There may be a dinner planned for after the show, but things are still in the very preliminary stages. For now, this is just a list of the EDA's so far that have expressed interest in being there (and most do already have tickets). There are 3 sections to choose from for seats. Reserved (covered), reserved (non-covered), and lawn seats. The reserved sections have actual seats with backs on them. Prices are $41 for the covered section, $31 for the non-covered, and $23 for lawn seats. All of the tickets also have a service charge...I believe it is about $4.25 It would be great if there were 10-15 EDA's at this. There will be 3 stages. A main stage, second stage, and what they're calling an acoustic stage for up-and-coming artists. Also many booths will be set up as well and an on-site Border's music store. The schedule for the various stages are as follows: - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Artist Time Start Time Finish Stage - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gates open 3:00pm Katell Keineg 4:30pm 4:50pm Second Kelly Willis 5:10pm 5:40pm Second Lisa Loeb 5:50pm 6:25pm Main Mary Black 6:35pm 7:05pm Second Emmylou Harris 7:15pm 7:50pm Main Joan Osborne 8:05pm 8:40pm Main Jewel 9:00pm 9:50pm Main Sarah McLachlan 10:10pm 11:00pm Main - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * Jewel and Sarah appear to be co-headlining this as they're getting the longest sets! Acoustic stage: Alisha's Attic and one other band will be on this stage that will be located inside the on-site Border's music store. Each set will be 15 mintues. Also, other Lilith artists may perform on this stage, if so, this will happen within the first hour after the gates open. Jewel maybe??? :-) Keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone who thinks they may be interested in attending this, please e-mail me and I can add you to the list. - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Houston Lilith Fair EDA List ============================ Will Cheng - Sugarland, TX - soul42@aol.com Tien Dang - Houston TX - tdang2@Bayou.UH.EDU Bill and Carrie Dallner - Chicago, IL - dallfin@flash.net Derrick Karacostas - Hitchcock, TX - dkaracos@marlin.utmb.edu Stacy Katz - Houston, TX - stacy@nol.net Amber and Mindi Reed - Bridge City, TX - hyypergirl@geocities.com Mark Suva Madlangbayan - Pensacola, FL - amalia@pen.net Farr Shepherd - Tecumseh, OK - obie1@ou.edu Fons Taddic - Houston, TX - ftzog@Bayou.UH.EDU Chris Wieland - Houston, TX - cwieland@mindspring.com - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll be updating this list about once a week. This one is an exception though, and I think many of you may find it as powerful from a male point of view as Jewel is from hers. It's Tom Cochrane's forthcoming new acoustic album, Songs Of A Circling Spirit, and there's a bit of a connection to our list here as well. It was recorded live last year while Tom and EDA-fave Tara MacLean were on tour together. As you may know, Tara is now doing her own tour accompanied by guitarist Bill Bell, whom she met on the Tom Cochrane tour, where Bill was Tom's guitarist. Songs of a Circling Spirit contains new acoustic recordings of songs from previous Tom Cochrane and Red Rider records, and it's a real departure from Tom's usual "Life Is A Highway" sort of sound. This was a real 'unplugged' type of tour with Bill helping Tom out on guitars, and Gregor Beresford on percussion. Tara had the opening slot on the tour, but she also joined in on a couple of Tom's songs during each of these shows, and her backing vocal performance is included on one song ("All The King's Men") on a 4-song sampler I just received. I don't know what the rest of the CD may hold, but I'll let you know once it arrives. :) I'm not sure whether "Songs Of A Circling Spirit" is scheduled for release in the U.S., or just in Canada. It is on EMI records here in Canada, and the American division of that Company is going through a major restructuring right now, and word is many of the artists have been dropped or sent over to other affiliated labels. I do know it will be out soon in Canada though, and if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll post the exact date once I hear it. Best! WEDNESDAY, JULY 9 @ 5:30 PM PT Join LiveConcerts.com on Wednesday, July 9 at 5pm (PT) as we present a very special event, LILLITH FAIR, a celebration of women in music as envisioned by Nettwerk Records' extremely gifted Canadian singer, songwriter and artist SARAH MCLACHLAN . Additional featured performers include Elektra's TRACY CHAPMAN, possibly the most unique voice of our generation, Warner Brothers Records' PAULA COLE one of the most socially relevant songwriters of our time, Atlantic Records' JEWEL KILCHER a charmingly idiosyncratic singer/writer whose songs possess a lyrical depth that belies her young age, and A&M's SUZANNE VEGA, the greatest songstress of the '80s. http://www.LiveConcerts.com ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Jul 97 10:33 From: JGRIESE@nacolah.com (Griese, Jeff) Subject: Jewel Vinyl release & Living Room tour Hi All! I, just this minute, heard this on the radio here in Chicago. I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but this is what I heard: "Jewel will be releasing her hot-selling POY album on vinyl on July 29. It will be a 2-record set and will include five songs previously unavailable" Who has more information about this I would like to know more! Also, this Living Room tour sounds so cool. So I was thinking, (as I'm sure everyone else is), that maybe we could get Jewel to do this. Maybe CLB and EH can give her advice on how they do it. We could easily get 25 bucks or more per head for Jewel. It could be kept hush hush, for only those on the list and nobody would suspect that Jewel would be playing in someones Living Room. If this ever gets going I would like to be the first one to donate my Living room to Jewel. : ) XOXOXOXO, Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Jul 1997 09:59:17 -0700 From: Gerrit Kruidhof Subject: Re: Poster Fraud MikeDreams@aol.com wrote: > ....and Jewel doesn't wear red dresses! In the Details Magazine with them on the cover, the article with Jakob Dylan mentions Jewel. They say that when they were being photographed, he was kind in greeting her, but didn't really socialize with her. (She ended up stubbing her toe on the bathroom door and, surprise surprise, two paramedics were called to treat a stubbed toe. Dylan is a loner, and he is married with a son. He has no reason to get it on with Jewel, although he would be a fool not to if he wasn't married. That is my personal opinion. Your thoughts? "I was listening to the radio here in Dallas and Jared from 94.5 KDGE The Edge had something very interesting to say. It involves Jewel and Jakob Dylan of the Wallflowers. Here's what he said: "Looks like Jakob Dylan and Jewel have gotten reeeal close since Rockfest...yeah, that's the rumor. Well, who wouldn't be hot for Jewel, right?" What do you think?
