Hey all, I wanted to say I'm totally excited about the upcoming Bearsville '97 trip. I HIGHLY recommend this excursion to anyone, as I feel it will rank up there with some of the best EDA gatherings. I mean, how can it not? On the site where a year ago a lot of us gathered to celebrate something that was still so simple and beautiful. That weekend a year ago has dramatically altered my entire world since. Socially, emotionally, spiritually, etc. And I felt I wish I had spent more time in the towns of Woodstock and Bearsville themselves as they are *very* cool. Who else remembers that beautiful river that ran behind the Bearsville theater? Jon Reade ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jul 1997 18:19:54 -0400 From: "Akira" Subject: Bearsville gathering... I was just wondering, with all these different arrangements for lodging, is there going to be an official center point for gathering? I know that last year some people spent part of the day over at the cabins and others spent part of the day at the theatre. I think it would be nice to have a center gathering place, where we know the majority of the angels will be gathered throughout the day. No worries, Akira ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jul 1997 18:34:00 -0400 (EDT) From: FabCAGal@aol.com Subject: ATTN: STARRY NIGHT CHANGE OF PLANS.... Ok my fellow angels, for various administrative reasons, the torch has been passed to this angel. Let me begin my eliciting your help on continuing this gathering that Igor manifested with great difficulty. There are obviously obstacles that we must pull together to overcome and make this thing happen, and I have no doubt that with our combined efforts, our Starrynight adventure WILL HAPPEN! Besides, it is my wedding after all! =) I am taking care of the bureaucratic mess involved with securing camping grounds, directions, and transportation for this event. The first thing I must do is rename, as to preserve Igor's future plans, this event. Let me see... why don't we call it...Inspiration/Motivation Tour! Why this? Well, I fee this gathering should encompass the idea that we are all linked in various ways, through our immense talents and perserverance, and have created a backbone with which we all find inspiration and motivation. We are inclined to have a gathering in which an open forum, if you will, of sharing may occur, in which we learn more about one another, create new memories, and new experiences to shelter in our souls and carry us into our next realm of existence in our separate worlds. I see people reading poetry, sharing musical talents, telling stories from which we all learn things, and laughing together. I see learning from the peace we will consume by being near the ocean, which anyone who lives near the beach can attest to. I envision the concept of us taking a piece of each other back home with us, in order to become better humans in general. Therefore, we will be inspired by each other to do more, and motivated by each other the same. Secondly, I need each of you that are considering this trip to email me directly at FabCAGal@aol.com and let me know any suggestions as to what location in California would best suit your needs, and summer travel plans. Igor's original reason for selecting Pt. Sal was for the sheer beauty of this place, as well as to accomodate the Lilith Fair travelers. I have had some feedback that perhaps moving this trip somewhere closer to Irvine, would be more accesible to a wider group of people. As of this point, I am fighting beaurocratic mess to keep the same location, but am open to any suggestions. If it weren't such a hike for most, I would love to have it in San Diego, America's Finest City! At any rate, please let me know from where you are traveling, the dates, and a suggestion of location that you would like to see this happen, so that with this information, I can find a middleground that is best for everyone. You guys can feel free to call me with any concerns, suggestions, or flames. I assure you that I have a spine of steel, and can handle anything you have to throw at me. Special thanks to Igor for laying this in my lap....shheeeshh and all amidst me planning a wedding! hehe, just kidding. Seriously guys, this is hard work, but I am sure we can make it a success! (Ok maybe more than 1). Well, I was just thinking this, because of the recent posts about Jewels ever increasing popularity. What I came up with was how much the list represents Jewel past, present, and future. Personally for me, I have been priviledged to meet some of you, and enjoy reading and responding to the many posts. I have been on many different lists, for many different things, and this list is the most unique and special. I find myself buying extra CD's just to give them away on this list. I don't know why, I guess it is just the SPIRIT of the list that motivates me to do it. And the people on this list are truly Everyday Angels. They respond to your requests and are always reseptive from newbees to old timers. I came onto this list not sure about what would happen, and I almost feel blessed that i found it. I eagerly come home from class or work and hop onto my computer to check my EMail. It is part of my daily life, and it has made me a better person. Alot of folks were fortunate enough to see Jewel when she was not as popular or even at JEwel Stock, and I was not one of them. But through the wonderful generousity of Jewel and her Mom, I am, along with others, are allowed to listen to these tapes. I don't worry about the popularity thing, because she deserves it and what she has founded in the EDA list, is even more special. I am proud to wear my EDA T-Shirt everywhere, and to explain to people on the street why I wear it, and what it stands for. To me, it stands for togtherness of a group of people who have come together under a common love (jewel) and who try to live there lives like Everyday Angels. And "Id Like to stay that way." I've had a similar experience myself. My story involves the Fugees. They're the rap group that sings "killing Me Softly" About 2 years or so before they blew up with the Score, they had an album called Blunted On Reality. I bought it and they were my favorite group although nobody "mainstream" had heard of them. Then The Score came out and they got huge, and I was glad because I liked them before and they got the success they deserved. And if I want to I can still look like a big shot by pulling out their old album and say "Look at this album I bought 2 years ago." And my friends can ooh and aah and I can still feel cool. I see no reason for people to get upset with her popularity...she's making more money, and touching more people, isn't that what you wish on your favorite artist? The first time I heard FG I thought, "Wow! This is great. I hope this gets released as a single, 'cause I think this could touch a lot of people." In this music world today it's hard to stay on top. Take Weezer for instance. Their first album went double platinum. Their follow up release barely went gold.
