Now, in times past, I would have agreed with you, but the times they are a changin'. With the advent of new breakthroughs in cloning technology, it is very possible that soon we *will* have another Bob Dylan with the same look sound and attitude as the original. Merely a single strand of Dylan's DNA and we of a younger generation can be guaranteed many more years of music from this genius. The next Bob Dylan will be Bob Dylan Too. But why stop there? Clone two more Dylans and you've got the Bob Dylan Trio. Add another, and they could play chamber music. Hell, we could have a goddamn Dylan Tabernacle choir if we wanted. And then, we can splice Jewel's DNA with Dylan's and we will have a super-singer-songwriter who would be the next Bob Dylan AND the next Jewel. His first album could be "Pieces of You on the Tracks." And we will call him (or her).... You seem like a very intelligent person, but I do hope you realize that cloning is a much more sophisticated process than a couple of random splices here and there and a fusion later. From your domain name, I gather that you are probably a student at GWU (George Washington U?). I'd would just like to let those of you out there know that it would not be incredibly simple to cross-clone Jewel and Bob Dylan. It seems easy, but it is in fact quite difficult. Anyhow....Thats just a word from your everyday genetic engineer (one that can't spell worth a hill of beans)... Each of us has one (or many) times when one has met a friend who sported a long face and asked them "What's up?" and they got told "Don't ask.".One then did ask and a 4 hour long discussion of the friend's troubles ensued. There's a lesson to be learned here. When someone says "I want brutal critique." they actually mean "Don't you dare critique my writing or I'll fall apart and hate you for the rest of my life.".Despite our aspiration to be Angels, we still fall prey to human foibles and do not necessarily say what we mean. Most people who like them are young girls between the ages of 12 and 16... and i'm sure at least 75% of them only like him because he has cool hair. or nice cheekbones... or other things having to do with looks... to tell you the truth i have NEVER heard someoen say "Gavin is such a great singer" all i ever hear is "hes such a hottie"... what does that really say about them? i mean if their fans only care about looks they are probably over looking the most important part of the band... the MUSIC! i actually DID buy the CD... so you cant say that i am blindly basing this on the songs ive heard on the radio. Okay guys, It's me again.. I just thought I would give you a run down on the showing of BATMAN AND ROBIN I went to this morning... Well, we got there at like 9:20am... The place was packed..I got to meet some DJ's (they are the most interesting people) so that was cool. We get in the theater and they are giving out prizes..Unfortunatlely I didn't get one.. So on the the movie... My basic feeling about this movie is that If it had come out as the first one in the series...It would have flopped. The reputation of the others carried it through to the box office and I think you will notice that it wont stay long in theaters. The movie itself did portray a very good dipiction of how the old shows were so outrageously blantant about the fatasy involved. The actors, well, needless to say, that I am glad they have other movies to fall back on. The most convincing character was Bain, the oversized monster at Poison Ivy's side. He fulfilled his role to a "T" and even had a couple of grunts in there that made you think for a moment that he "might" have a brain of his own. But, anyway... The whole movie I was waiting for those little cartoon signs to pop up and say stuff like "Pow!" or "OUCH!" Very overdone and tasteless. I don't think that the next Batman and Robin movie will be a financial venture which I would undertake considering that this movie was not a move in the right direction for Mr. Shumaucher(sp). But who knows, Madonna may actually carry out the part of the Joker's wife well. But who will be the next BATMAN? That is the next question. It almost leads you to believe that BATMAN actually dies in these adventures but gets reincarnated with a cast of actors who are picked for popularity and not for their talents. Maybe someday, Hollywood will learn. Maybe Okay, I know I have wasted some of you time...But you go and decide what you think. I am glad that my viewing was free, because I wouldn't pay an enormous amount of money to see this flick. AND on top of that! I didn't even hear Jewel in the picture at all... But the soundtrack version of Foolish Games rocks and if you want to pick it up. There are songs on the soundtrack that make it worthwhile, you just have to wade through the jungle of other stuff.... I'd just like to take this time to commend the people at The Foothill who let us hang after the show, unlike those bastards at Nicholby's who kicked us out as soon as Stinky put down his drum sticks! Hotdog count: 2 "Tree Hugger" and "Now's Not The Right Time For Love" Steve got his haircut recently and looks very different. For those who don't know the story, Steve went into Supercuts with a picture of Timothy McVeigh and told the barber (I refuse to use the term 'hair-stylist') to make him look like the guy in the picture. Jeff was very mellow. Although he got up from his drumset twice ('Kilkenny Man' and 'Football Tonight') he didn't get too wild. I didn't see any spitting at all. He played awesome though! About 4 people were able to crowd surf, not an easy task considering the low ceiling of The Foothill. Once you're on top of the crowd, you're about 1 foot away from the ceiling, and within kicking distance of the lights and mirror ball. The boys said they're playing a show for Ellen DeGenerous today. It's somebody's birthday party, but probably not Ellen's...maybe a friend of hers or something. I warned them not to expect to pick up on any women after the show ;) They'll be playing Friday 6-28-97 at the Bellyup Tavern near San Diego, and Saturday 6-29-97 at the Whiskey A-go-go in Hollywood. Plus a show in Orange County on July 5th, but I didn't catch the venue name. Look for me at all 3 shows :) The Notorious E.D.A., Sindoggydog Sinjin@socal.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 1997 16:04:25 EDT From: stratman7@juno.com (JAMES R BAILEY) Subject: Re: Do You Guys Like Bush?? From: gosiam@juno.com (Margaret E Milsztajn) Well ,I (Margaret) was just wondering which CD of Bush you bought if you bought Razorblade Suitcase, that's the one that sucks more than 16teen stone because the songs are really mellow and slow. If you want to give Bush another try, then I recommend that you buy or borrow 16Teen Stone because that one is way better than Razorblade Suitcase. Oh!! One more thing I'm sure that there are people (not only girls ) That like Gavin not becuase of his looks but because of his music. Sure he ain't ugly lookin' but, I'm not crazy about him, I'm crazy about the way that their music downs out the troubles of my so-called-life....... P.S My cousin who is 21, LOVES bush........... P.S.S Your not getting flammed OK?? Hi Everyone, I dedicate this poem to Stephanie K. Sometimes (the world is a wonderful place) Like the snowy feathers of gossamer's wings Dancing upon the seas of ancient kings, Like the pedals of cherry blossom drifting by, And the exhale of heartfelt sighs, Sometimes the world is a wonderful place. Like the natural monuments rising high, Like the swarm of monarchs passing by, Like the raising of angelic voices in song, That remind me of where I have gone, Sometimes the world is a wonderful place. Like the rumble of the sea at night, Surf pounding no horizon in sight, Like the stars glittering high in the sky, Painting a tapestry of patterned light Sometimes the world is a wonderful place. Like the sapling reaching, gasping for life, Like the mayfly that lives for just one night, Like the kindness that comes only from the heart Of angels who do what they can in their part Sometimes the world is a wonderful place. Interspersed in the juggernaut of events in our lives, Separated so far at times by darkness and lies, We often forget that there will always be lights That will continue to glow eternally bright Even on the coldest of winter nights. Like the field of stars in Stephanie's skies, Like the angels who stay with us in our lives, Like the kindness we show to those in need, Showing everyone what's in our hearts by our deeds Sometimes the world is indeed a wonderful place.
