When I send a message to the list, it appears 3 times. I don't know why. But, I've witnessed a post I sent once come to me in the mail, 3 times. 2. Is it just cause I live in Delawhere? Two days I posted a request for guitar tab information. I recieved responses that day (thank you those who did). The next day (today) I recieved the my post (3 times of course), for the first time. How come I don't get my mail even on the same day as everyone else? That's it. If anyone has any feedback for me, please send it. I'll probably get some responses tonight (even though I'll recieve this post tomorrow night (3 times)). Jewel.....What can you say about her....She's magical... Her voice penetrates my head and reaches part of me that I didn't think could be reached any longer. I don't know if I've ever experienced that from another entertainer, or person, period. Someone told me that they didn't like Jewel's voice...said it got annoying after awhile...But I let it go, since he listens to only country music, and, well, no one's perfect.. *grin* I cannot wait until she's here in Phoenix next month...I have pretty good seats, and if her voice can capture me like this over a CD, I can imagine the emotion i will feel live. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jun 1997 17:31:31 EDT From: jeweleda@juno.com (Kim R) Subject: Re: cool bumper stickers On Thu, 19 Jun 1997 00:08:54 -0500 Amy Barker writes: >Be and ANGLE practice random acts of kindness >PROTECTED MY ANGLES >I BELIVE IN ANGLES >NEVER DRIVE FASTER THAN ANGLES CAN FLY I love angles too :) hey I can't help it math is my best subject (sorry I couldn't resist ) Kim ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jun 1997 23:35:34 -0400 (EDT) From: JaZzToPaZ@aol.com Subject: NJC: a non-love poem First of all, I have a faint link of Jewel to Bob Dylan...Bob Dylan is in Jewel's lookalike's movie. Everyone is saying how Jewel looks like Renee Zellweger and how Jewel is or isn't like Dylan...I just thought I'd point out that Dylan has a song at the end of "Jerry Maguire." And that whole thing about women artists being the ones to move people is mostly true for me, too. With the exception of a few male artists like Bryan Adams, Richard Marx, and Bob Carlisle. I guess it's just the voice or something that makes me want to listen and the words back up their wonderful voices. I feel like bawling when I hear songs like YWMFM...especially when a woman sings them...I don't know, maybe it helps me get in touch with my *other* side. Okay, last of all I have posted another poem. I remember someone wanting a poem without love and I don't think there is any love in this one. I don't know what to do. Sometimes I want to throw POY out the window to end the pain, but can't cuz I love the way she sounds. I want to be true to myself, but why is that so hard for people to understand. Why are they labeling me and forcing me into such a label? Also I am sick of all this shit on how Jewel looks. Hi Everyone, After being at my 5th Tara MacLean performance at Hampton Beach on Wednesday night, I would like to put on the floor of the EDA list a proposal for Tara MacLean to appear as the opener for Jewel at Harborlights. As of this moment, I have no idea whether or not an opening act for Jewel at Harborlights has been decided on. But in case one hasn't, I would like to throw out the idea of Tara as Jewel's opening act. Anyone who is unfamiliar with Tara, her voice is compelling and powerful, and the words of her songs thoughtful and drawn from her personal experiences (much like Jewel has drawn in her own songs). On some levels, she reminds me of Jewel when she was touring smaller venues and coffeehouses. I've heard Tara compared to Sarah MacLachlin (who's also on the Nettwerk label), but to me, she's nothing like Sarah. Other than the similarity of genre, Tara's sound is very distinctive, angelic on several levels, emotionally charged, and very powerful. Paired with her guitarist and very very close friend Bill Bell, the sound is utterly awe-inspiring. There is a dream-like quality to Tara and Bill performing together, and it's something that I feel all the EDAs must see and hear to believe. Their music is absolutely wonderful and beautiful to experience and something I strongly believe all the EDAs would totally enjoy to set the mood before Jewel walks out on stage. It bothers me a little, and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts about it. That is, the story she tells about singing with Dylan on stage. But she also says she went to see him in his dressing room, and he asks her about a song she sang. She keeps changing which song it was. From "Sometime it be that way" to "chime bells"...etc. So what's the deal? Where's the truth? Is it just a "story"? I have come to believe her a very sincere artist, and am just confused by this point. see ya! - -john - -------------------------------------------------------------------- visit my pages, dedicated to scribbles, scratches and vibrations, and those individuals responsible for the most beautiful of them: http://www2.mousehouse.com/rejoyce/riverrun.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jun 1997 19:29:20 -0400 From: Joshua Baummer Subject: I'm looking for BOB Hi all, I am looking for Bob (The guy who has the Jewel photos for sale). And I'm gonna talk about Jewel(what else would you expect on a Jewel mailing list). I'm not a poet nor do I see deeper meanings that there are in most poetry. But I do, however, undersand Jewel's. It's simple. That's what I like about her poetry. It's about human nature which she says on her album cover(and I've already seen it on messages on my first day). When my mother first saw that quote, she said: "She's a philosopher". I hadn't given it much thought about it until she said it, and she's right you know. She has a different way of thinking, which I admire. Her songs are about how the world works and they express realism at it's most basic level. I love all her songs and her poetry. What I said has probably been said thousands of times before me and if you have already read something like this, I'm sorry to have wasted your time but if you haven't, I hope you found it insightful or boring or at least something. If you found it in- different, you'll most likely be going through life the same way. Ah, how I miss the smell of burning bras in the morning! Rumor has it that one of the Harris Bros. is urinating on all the bras he purchased at Frederick's of Hollywood. Does that mean he has a sociopathic personality? So Rachel, what do you think of the toilet paper thread? Now it has been followed up with, "which hand do you wipe with?". Before you know it, people will be talking about body parts in a some rude and disgusting way. I remember a time when we use to joke about posts like this. Well, I guess I'll just have to miss a few shows at Java Joe's. I'm going to the First Annual Bob Dylan Golf Tournament at Woodstock, NY. If you can't attend, it will be televised on PBS thanks to a grant from Bank of Montreal. I would have asked Larry to go with me, but he is still staring at that lava lamp. Larry, stop drinking that bong water! Where is Selena and Amy when we really need them? I sure miss them harassing me.
