I always thought it was a shame that he made such an incredible contribution to the list, and didn't want to let it be openly known on the list that he put together those two tapes, especially since he did such an incredibly good job on both of them. I've always thought it was incredible that someone would do so much for others with very little recognition for his efforts. Although it must have been gratifying to know that Jewel herself was impressed with the quality of the Rare Angels tape. I think Rare Angels is about a year old now. Think about that. For an entire *year*, Dan has been going about quietly putting together a couple of the best fan-produced tapes I have ever seen, and without expecting any thanks from the people who are benefitting from his labours, save for a few people who have been on the list a long time, and Lenedra. This list that we each belong to has a long history of generousity, comedy, quibbling, and just good old hard work. Many names that you see today were just learning the ropes a year ago. It was in that time that many of the things we take granted today were just being explored and developed. =) The list archives can be found at: http://www.smoe.org/lists =) List vets: I have come across many "introductions" made by us about a year ago. Hey guys... Here is yet another poem from me...this one was written on Friday night/early Saturday morning... remember, as always, please be brutally honest in any feedback you give me... oh, and it has no title =) by Stephanie Maria Kartalopoulos I wanted to sit by moonlight, but the clouds hid the moon from me- it was not meant to be. I wanted to write this by candlelight, but I ran out of matches- I guess it was not meant to be. So I sit here, my hallogen lamp dimmed so low as I pretend that I sit next to a candle, under the moon. Thinking about that moon, a beautiful watercolor, blurry, limitless, boundless, I think about how you and I share this moon, share this miracle, and though we are seperated by miles, water, trees, we look at the same side of the moon, though our souls provide different perspectives, our souls connected by the stars, slumbering peacefully right now behind comforting blankets of clouds. I stretch my arm out my window, reaching towards the moon, hoping to reach closer to you, wanting to touch you, and all I touch are clouds, blanketing those stars which bind us as I smile, knowing you can feel me reaching for you, thinking about you, loving you. Always, my friend, we shall have candlelight, moon, and stars. (the end) OK. That's it. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. Take care, and I love you all madly... I don't know if this is THE page from that thread back then, but there is a "Fan Poetry" page on Adam Longfellows' "Pieces of Jewel" page. Alot of the poetry presently there is from EDAs (as Adam is one :) Sorry, I don't have the URL handy. Normally I would never post a poem to the list, But this one's for Stephanie - and I think she deserves it :-) Stephanie By Tammy L. Campbell She's an angel watching over us laughing as her spirit soars higher still into the heavens Her earthly being rests sleeping through the night some may say she's no angel - she's just dreaming I say that she has angel dreams that lift her making her soul shine her eyes glow She has beauty within indescribable with mere words Her laughter echos Her tears of joy fall For she is an angel an angel of love an angel of understanding she shines brightly - soaring She defends her soul protects her dreams refusing to let them take them For she is an angel on earth ok, so it's a really bad poem for Steph - especially since hers is so good. Oh well, thanks for reading anyway... Tammy :-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 1997 10:28:48 -0500 (CDT) From: dkaracos@marlin.utmb.edu (Derrick) Subject: Jewel's car Jewel has a 1997 BMW Roadster....just kidding! I really don't know. She probably doesn't even have (need) a car since she's on the road so much. I was part of EDA a long while ago, and then when I was having money problems and losing my AOL, I figured I'd stay off of it for a little while, as much as it killed me to do so, because I had no idea when I may be able to be steadily online again... and of course what you're saying about the Begging and Alarming subjects is disturbing... I want you all to know I will do anything I can to help, in any manner that I can... support, friendship, anything at all... and it feels good to be back John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 1997 12:21:29 -0400 (EDT) From: ForvrLaust@aol.com Subject: Re: Angelface's actual car!! (factual info, read it for your self) Jarboc1... I thought the article was quite good myself... I thought the pictures were great. I remember seeing the magazine while taking a trip to Ohio and thinking I HAD to have it... so I got it and read it aloud to the person I was driving with... It was a good article... the way she talks, and thinks... it is all truly magnificent. I met Jewel once, 3 weeks before Pieces of You was released... and unfortunately have never hjad the chance to do so again... I feel that as a great loss... anyway, I am glad you enjoyed the article John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 1997 12:24:57 -0400 (EDT) From: ForvrLaust@aol.com Subject: Fwd: Nj News??? and again - --------------------- Forwarded message: Subj: Nj News??? I have so rarely seen her live, for the times when she was here I was not able to go... my heart broke each time... but this time was nice... I could see her smile, see her carry those notes long and hearty... and could see the love she has for all of her fans, and all of her friends... and the joy she gets from performing. I still don't really like that she sings auditoriums... I miss the closeness of being ten feet away from her in a coffee shop, But i would never deny her the chance to touch thousands at a time with her voice and face... I just miss her Anyway... when the show is aired yet again, watch for her... and watch her love John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 1997 12:51:36 -0400 (EDT) From: Albert Sze-Wei Wang Subject: Re: A little encouraging advice on poetry... All fiction writers and intimately familiar with it since any rejection letter you get will more than likely mention this. It's as much a technique as an ingredient. Splashing it in won't work. You basically have to change the way you write and describe things- but the results are well worth it.
