There is one that VH1 and MTV have been showing this month which is from an appearance she did on VH1 last year. I never saw it though, so I can't tell you about it other than it was a *live* performance, which the new Foolish Games is not. Was this video a live performance? Sorry... had to have that little bit of obnoxious-ness ( is that a word ? ). Ok, straight to the point... you know how there are these stories that Jewel tells over and over again, and you're likely to hear them at any show you go to, or on any angelfood you get ? You know, like the Mexico story, or the story about your brain being hair, or the story behind Fragile Flame ? WELL... I realized that these stories are something every Jewel fan should be familiar with. If you're not, you'll be very confused at an EDA gathering :) . I'd like to edit together all of the Jewel Legends :). I must have heard 5 different versions of jewel's bob dylan story, and I'd like to ber able to put all the versions together and use it to inform others. SO, here's my assignment, or plea, or whatever it takes for you to do it... I'd like for you guys to think of the Jewel legends you know. you know, things like the Mexico story, etc, etc... all of those little stories you've heard Jewel tell. They don't need to be perfecty typed, or spelled right, or even in reasonably good english. I'd eventually like to put these all together and send them out to the list, as well as possibly put them up on my web site. So.... please... 1) DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT SEND THEM TO THE LIST ! I don't want to be blamed for any more disturbing traffic, and I don't want to give anyone a good reason to flame me. PLEASE send these Jewel Legends to me at cornflkgl@aol.com or cornflake_girl@geocities.com. Put "Jewel Legends" in the subject line.. And thank you in advance, guys ! If anyone is interested, please let me know and hopefully we can get it organized. Hey Jewel-ers, I'm brand new to the list, and I thought I'd introduce myself..... I'm 14, female, and from Los Angeles. I have seen Jewel ONCE :o) [[better than nothin']] in my life, at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas {I have it on tape if ya want it!}. That was one of the best nights in my 14 years. :oD Too kewl for words, if you know what I mean. Anyhow, I went with my mom to the concert [[ I got a kewl mom! ]]. I waited ever so patiently for my second favorite artist to power the stage [[ Natalie Merchant = Number One. ]] I saw the people take out her guitar. It was dark, but I was 2nd row, so I could see the stage very well. She came out. I flipped (really). After performing a couple of songs, I screamed at the very very top of my lungs "JEWEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JEWEL!!!!!!!!" She heard me. Ohmigod. She looked RIGHT at me, and said, "Hi!!!" "WWWOOOOO HOOOO" I screamed!!! :o) Like I said, one of the best nights of my life. It only got better when Natalie got onstage, but you can e-mail me privately if you'd like to hear that story. :o) Okay, that's my little story about my Jewel encounter. Thanks for listening, Ciao Erin [[ TwinkleGrl@aol.com ]] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ JOIN THE NATALIE MERCHANT MAILING LIST: subscribe@nataliemerchant.org ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Jun 1997 22:45:51 -0600 From: ehicks@flash.net Subject: Re: Foolish Games Music Video > Is it just me or did Jewel _just_ record and release the Foolish > Games music video? I saw it this morning for the first time and I saw > that it was 1997. Was it released today? I'm pretty sure that the video you saw was her live performance from VH1 Crossroads, because I saw that video on today also. I think VH1 is just anticipating the release of the Foolish Games single and video and trying to promote the song a little bit before the real video comes out. I dunno... Also, something else Jewel related. One of our radio stations here does this thing called "Live at 5" every day. What it is, is basically a bunch of songs from bootleg performances that they play for a half hour every day. Today I was listening, and they played YWMFM! I was happy to hear the song, but I also know that that must have come from an unauthorized boot, so it made me kinda mad. The dj made some stupid comment about the song afterwards. I was gonna call and get mad at her for playing an illegal boot from Jewel, but I guess they wouldn't have a show if they didn't play boots, so there's nothing I could do. And it's not like anyone's gonna make angelfood for the radio station! *hugs* Emily ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Jun 1997 00:51:28 -0400 From: Afternoons & Coffeespoons Subject: Re: NJC: Jeff Buckley News HAlbans@dca.gov.au wrote: > > So will there still be a new album from him? Ok, well first of all, I'd like to say that I do feel bad that Jewel has such a rough schedule, but it can't be THAT BAD! I seriously doubt that she is getting 3 hours of sleep every night. I can see only 5 or so, but 3 every night is just... well, I don't think they would do that to her. Sleep deprivation is not a good thing, but it's something i got through A LOT!!! I am a very busy person, and during the school year, I am probably just as busy as Jewel is when she's on the road. I know I've never been on a tour like that, but for most of the year, I'll get about 5 hours of sleep every night, with the exception of about one night a week where I'll get a reasonable amount of sleep. And I think Jewel is able to at least get this. She is still dead tired, I know that, but I wouldn't worry too much about her. She has plenty of time over the summer to recooperate and she's doing what she loves to do. Even though it's hard for her to get through the day sometimes, I think we all must agree that she would much rather be touring endlessly than being a waitress and not fufilling her dreams. *hugs* Emily ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #411 ***************************
