My favorite groups are Outkast, Mobb Deep, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Wu-Tang Clan etc, etc. If you have heard of any of these groups, that's great! If not, I understand, a lot of people hate rap and that's ok. As for other bands, I like Sublime, Verve Pipe, Lenny Kravitz, Mighty Mighty Bosstones and others. Of course my favorite artist is Jewel. I think that says a lot for her music when she can reach someone like me who normally wouldn't even give her music a second look. But there was just something about her, and I bought her CD, the first non rap CD I had bought in 2 years, and have loved her music ever since. I have also bought a lot more rock/alternative CD's since I started listening to her. So I guess as well as turning me on to her music, she turned me on to a whole lot more. I can now say I'm a music fan rather than a rap fan, and I can almost enjoy watching Alternative Nation on MTV as much as Rap City on BET. The only problem I have now is, there are too many CD's I want to buy! In fact, I was specifically told Jewel and her representatives ARE still in discussions with the creators/producers, and that they are hoping to even meet again sometime during or between her 6/7 MTV Movie awards appearance and the 6/9 Lilith Fair one. I've also heard now that IMAX (the big screen movie company) is possibly going to pick up the first episode of the series as a 30-40 minute feature, to be shown first on IMAX screens, and then following on the network.
