As an email for the raffle comes in, I print it. They are piled up on my desk, just 8.5x11 sheets of paper. Last night I started to go through all of them one by one so I could see how much we raised. Each letter had been previously read as they arrived. But now I was reading them all in one sitting and reading them from hard copy that I was holding in my hands. Emotions started to build up as I continued. My hands trembled as I tried to read. It was getting harder to to read as my eyes began to swell with tears. Finally I just lost it. These pieces of paper represented little bits of emotion from so many people. Each pledge for the raffle included a sentence or two. In a few cases a story about something in their own lives. I must tell you that that I feel amazed at the special group of people I am so proud to be part of. Jewel is not only going to be amazed as well, she is going to consider herself very lucky to be one of us. When she is on stage or on video performing her songs, she is a singer/songwriter, an artist, a celebrity. When she opened up her heart in behalf of James Paul Kalanick, she truely became one of us. She may be our angel on stage but now she is also an EveryDay Angel as well. But most of us knew that anyway. I started by saying I need some help. Well I have some more free tickets for the lunch with James. It is this Sunday, 11:00 to 1:00 at Einstein Bagel in LaJolla, CA. That is in the San Diego area. Please join the other EDAs that are coming. I need you all to support me when I show James all the emails. Someone may have to take over if I get emotional. You may get to see a grown man cry. Let me know right away. Send me email to reserve a ticket. "When I got this shirt it gave me great joy and pleasure. Too much pleasure for just one person. I would like to share that feeling with others, so I want to offer the shirt for the raffle." I went to a real small shop first, where i tried a takamine ($649, discounted at $449). It was a cut-away with a pre-amp (the 9V battery kind), and it really sounded good. Then, i tried a $1000 takamine which sounded about the same as the first one. This was also a cut-away with a pre-amp. Next, I tried a washburn ($450, discounted at $249). This sounded even better than the takamine, but was a classical shape with no cut-away and no pre-amp. All three were brand-new and all had incredible clarity. The washburn had the best sound, even though it was the least expensive. If there's a washburn like that with a pre-amp and cut-away, it would be perfect. After this, i went to a larger store that specialized in guitars and keyboards. There, the assistant manager showed me some ovations with pre-amps and a couple of Ibanez. The ovation was a 30th anniversary celebrity series, and had several holes on the body instead of one sound hole. It was $400. The Ibanez guitars also sounded good, comparable to the takamines i had seen earlier. They ran for $260 new. Can you all let me know what you think of this? Thanks a lot!!! Jewel wasn't on next it is a guy whose name I don't know how to spell (did I ever tell you about my wonderous spelling tallents-or have you noticed them?) I just finished eating so I could probaly turn on the movie again but I am afraid my sandwich will reapeer. I just hiccuped-isn't that nice to know? I am going to get off soon and try to write I havn't done that in a while but the last poem I did write I really liked so that should mean I don't have any left in me for a while. I just got out of the bathroom (nature called) and who was it Jewel. I can at least spell her name. Getting a little too hyper again excuse me while I slap myself but feel free to sing YWMFM in the meantime. And maybe next will be Pop-up videos ( have I ever told you my love for pop-up videos) and Jewel will be on and I will put it on the right tape. I have alot of it on the tape that I taped the first two parts of the Shinning on I forgot to tape the last part:-( Great news Paula Cole is on next-sing along. I wonder who is on next? All the good people have gone but there are suprises around every corner. That sounded cheesy and I am not calming down so feel to slap me. The video that is on next is making me laugh It is really dumb. I have something funny that I learned from Pop-up Videos today. Alanis Morasett(theres that spelling again) oppened for Vanilla Ice. Whatever happend to him.. did he get a new idenity. The weird song that was on after Paula Cole was Savage Garden I wonder if Sound Garden was there influence. I am going to shut up now and say sorry for the long post about nothing and everyone wish on a star-or an eyelash that the Sean Penn YWMFM is on VH1 and that I see it. So the Spice Girls beat Jewel--who cares. If everyone who likes Jewel will keep on liking her like they do, then Jewel will stay up there. Who cares what anyone else thinks. It's T.V. That's just my opinion anyways. I mean we don't have to obsess over it. Jewel is doing just fine. Well first of all I was wondering in what respects the remembered after 5 yrs and so on was spoke of??? Jewel will of course be remembered after 5 years and more....by those who like her music and her way .... but in the same respect the spice girls will also be remembered ... I am not a fan of the spice girls myself but to those who like the spice girls and thanks to the invention "CD" there album will be at the least sitting on someones shelf for years to come and most likely in the stores for just as long... As for me...I will forget about the spice girls soon after the day I no longer hear about them simply because it is not a group that I listen to...but I do wish them the best of luck just as I do to Jewel because they, just as everyone else are trying to do what they want to ... and if they can win awards due to the public liking the music all the better for them.... :-) OK I hope I make a little sence and I LUV ya all.
