It has to say something about what's wrong with the world right now. I had WWSYS, Pieces of You, and I'm Sensitive in mind, because they seem to have a little message behind it. Unfortunately, the tour booklets which were sent to me have not yet arrived. They're in the mail. No, really! Unless they show up first thing tomorrow morning (which is possible,) it looks as though I'll only be able to get the booklets out to the Canadian EDA's who have ordered it upon my return. My deepest apologies. This means that people who have already sent me their envelopes and cheques will most likely receive the booklets around Jewel's birthday. I'll send out a post as soon as I come back. If you haven't sent me your order yet, and would still like to do so, please wait until about May 15 to mail your cheque and self-addressed stamped envelope to me. Further to Mr. BB's heart-warming message that Jewel intends to donate 70% of the income derived from the sale of these booklets to the JPK Trust, I believe that there is now even greater incentive to obtain a copy. The booklets are not only great collectible Jewel items featuring some of her truly thought-provoking poetry...they're also helping to contibute to a great cause that we have collectively decided to support. At the end of this message, I'll repost the instructions for ordering these booklets if you're located in Canada. Have a great few weeks. Enjoy Jewel's Sat. Night Live performance, and if anyone is getting to go to the Unplugged taping....we're all envious! Meanwhile, I'm off to Zurich, Prague and Israel, three places I've never visited before, so I'm pretty excited. By the way, you may or may not know that Israel in Hebrew means 'he who wrestled with an angel'....so that reminds me....Let's have no angel-wrestling while I'm gone! Angels are for hugging and treasuring, and are best left unflamed. Be good to each other, and yourselves, and I'll be in touch in a few weeks. I'm going to unsubscribe, and I'll catch up as best as I can later. Take care, Gerry - -------------------------------------------------------------------- REPOSTING OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE ON ORDERING TOUR BOOKLETS IN CANADA THIS MESSAGE IS FOR CANADIAN EDA'S Hi everyone, Sorry this post is little on the longish side, but it's not complex. Really. Here's the deal for Canadian EDA's on acquiring copies of the Jewel tour poetry booklets. First, to prove you're Canadian, you have to answer the following skill-testing question: What was Don Cherry's dog's name? Just kidding.... This will work quite similarly to Mr. BB's excellently conceived process. To reiterate, we're talking about Jewel's "Tiny Lights Tour '97" booklets that were sold during Jewel's recent tour. These booklets contain poetry, writing, vintage & recent photos as well as info about the tour itself. Here's the instructions. Please follow them EXACTLY in order for this to be as easy as possible for us. As Alan pointed out, the cost of the booklets are $10 in American dollars. (same as at the shows). This translates into $14 Canadian. To speed up the procedure, please send me (NOT the list) an e-mail as soon as possible to indicate how many booklets you would like. Please put "Canadian tour books" as the subject. Then send me a standard size manilla envelope (9.5" x 13") that is self addressed & with at least 90 cents in stamps already on it. (Note: DO NOT use postal meter postage! Only stamps.) Add an extra 90 cent stamp for each extra booklet ordered up to 5 booklets. Include $14 in Canadian funds in a cheque or money order for each booklet ordered. *****Make the cheque or money order out to me - Gerry Lipnowski***** NOT to Jewel. NOT to Alan. And certainly under no circumstances to a Harris brother....;-) I will simply put however many booklets you paid for in the envelope & send it back to you. It's that easy. Also, please note that I will be out town for the first two weeks of May. So, please put your envelope in the mail by April 18, or if you can't do it by then, wait until May 14. I'll repost this a few times next week, and we'll start again in May. Send your self adressed pre-postaged 9.5" x 13" manilla envelope, with a $14 cheque or money order for each booklet ordered to: Gerry Lipnowski 3951 Lacombe Montreal, Quebec H3T 1M7 MONTREAL EDA'S PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING; If you want to save yourself the mailing procedure and just meet somewhere for this transaction, send me an e-mail and we can probably do that. I know where most of you live anyway..... Everyone, please read the following reminder from Alan: - ------------------------------------------------------------- "These booklets are in limited quantities & will not be printed again. I'll keep the list posted if it looks like they'll sell out to prevent having to return any requests. Remember, Amyjo & I volunteered to do this "totally non-profit" because so many EDAs requested it. Follow the simple instructions. I know this will be painless if you do. :-) If this can be done without a lot of problems, We've agreed to set up a similar thing with the leftover tour t-shirts. Lets see how it goes." - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Right on Mr. BB......Ditto from me. On a personal note, I just want to point out that I bought one of the booklets at the Burlington VT show, and I genuinely like it a lot. And, as a last thought from me, I think we in Canada should distinguish ourselves from our American compatriots and refer to ourselves from now on as the ED eh's? What do you think, eh? :-) Take care, Gerry ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Apr 97 11:08:30 PST From: "Bethany Thompson" Subject: Re: Video for Jewelstock? >Are there any video copies of Jewelstock? There will be someone at the house at all times, for those arriving late or wishing to sit this one out -- I may be nominated to stay home since Toni will be playing. Saturday: Full concert in the afternoon, time as yet unknown. Lunch or dinner at the fabulous Schlotzsky's Deli; low-interest EDA loans available for those on a budget. :-) Acoustic jam session till dawn. Anyone interested in attending our SF club meeting in the evening as guests are welcome to do so, and see the Indianapolis Children's Museum (our meeting place) from the inside. Meet a world-famous SF author (my wife) in her natural habitat. See Greg get attacked by underage women. See people stranger than EDAs, with even broader scopes of interest. :-) Sunday: sleep off hangovers, hang out, group picture, depart. Now I must run downstairs and continue cleaning the house. - -- | Greg Dunn | I really think it's better this | | gregdunn@indy.net | way; the more you suffer, the | | GregDunn@aol.com | more you show you really care. | | http://members.aol.com/gregdunn | The Offspring | ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 23:29:21 -0700 From: Mike Thiel Subject: Re: NJC: sorry, but this is cool Naveen Rao wrote: > Wishes of a Lover > > As I look out at the majestic sea, > I know you and I were meant to be. > I only wish I could make you see > how much your love means to me. > I wish I could walk up to you > and speak the words that lovers do. > But now I sit here sad and blue > wishing that I could be with you. (*sigh*) Thank you, Naveen, for sharing that ... it is truly wonderful. My girl lives real far away from me ... I KNOW that we were meant to be, but I can't actually BE with her. (*sigh*) I really hope wishes come true ... First hand experience here...:) The Ovations sound nice, and play nice, and they're great to stand up and play (with a strap on of course), but if you want to sit down and play...forget it. The round back causes the guitar to slide off your lap. It's a shame too. Depending on the method shown, it will either repulse them and turn them against abortion, or it will inform them and help them understand better the hows and whys. I think that was why the URL was given. I think it was a very good idea.
