I realize that most of you who are new to the list have nothing to trade and because of that have a hard time getting any AngelFood. Well here is your chance to collect your free food from the EDA government. I would have liked to have had this going sooner but there has been a few setbacks and it is taking a little longer than expected. Soon there will be a webpage dedicated to taking requests and for info. For now, if you are interested in starting your collection please E mail me for information at AFoodStamps@HotMail.com and I will get to the requests as soon as I can. I don't want to post all the instructions to the list so it dosn't get cluttered, so if you want more info then send your interst to the above address and I will send you a copy of the tapes available and further info. It seems that camels may be the answer to help many of the starving people in Africa. Scientist have discovered that a very nutriciuos ice cream can be made out of camels milk. Their milk has the same problem going bad as does cows milk but is very rich in nutriants and will keep longer as ice cream. Unlike cows milk, the cheese is not very good and imparts a taste from the things camels eat. My point is we need our camel back so he can start saving the list. It was bound to happen. Again my friend accused me of being Jewel Obsessed. Possessed with every matter of my being, with every purpose of motion, with every conscious thought... centered in and around Jewel. Satellites of Jewel. Somehow everything that she said related perfectly back to Jewel. For example, she would ask if I planned to cover the side of the yard with stones. I would instinctively think "Stones.... Rolling Stones... Cover of The Rolling Stones" And So I answered, "No, I don't think that I could do that with a picture of JeweL". "What", she replied, "Does your yard to do with JeweL?" "You", I retorted, "brought it up. It has everything to do with her." And so what ever subject she talked about, I happened to relate back to Jewel. "You, Erick " she accused, "Are Jewel Obsessed". I hadn't heard the first three words she said but only heard "Jewel". She repeated herself. I suppose that in many ways I have a Non-Jewel-Comment Deficient Disorder. (I spelled this out for the newbies) If it doesn't relate to her directly or indirectly I quickly loose interest. My only defense is that my friend is Anti-Jewel Obsessed. "Look at her nose, look at her tooth, look.." "Stop right there", "How can you both accuse me of being taken with her looks and at the same time condemn her looks" "Aren't her words, her lyrics deeper and more redeeming than what you see on the surface. Is that how you judge her? Is that how you judge me? Is that how you judge yourself? Her faults are her virtue. Her virtue is human. Accept her." "But her whinning voice about living on the street is so negative" "You have heard maybe, maybe one or two songs of hers." "You're over generalizing and taking one or two lines from her songs and taking them out of context. And besides, all great literature deals with pain and suffering.... if it didn't Shakespeare's sonnets would sound like Barney Muse." Gee, really enjoy rewriting my own version of what happened... I was astounded that someone would actually think that going to the bathroom would prove to be a motive for such an act. Well, this officer questioned us and took our ID's... The whole ordeal ended with us being kicked out of the building until it reopened. This has totally broken my concentration and I am sooooo pissed. I went to security to voice my dissatisfied opinion but I don't think it did any good. I guess the officer wanted to do some paper work during the off hours of the night. Good for him. Myles' review was very much appreciated, and should have drawn some comment. Personally, I found it funny that he skipped out on Johnny Cash's set in favor of the local pub (but I have a few Brit friends, so it certainly wasn't a surprise that he did so!)... I purposely did not comment on the posts on the faggot/KKK, "Jewish American Princess" and the Mormon/Catholic churches as they have potential (hell, a likelihood) to escalate into another list flame war (or two). And I am not saying that I don't agree/disagree with the poster's views, or don't have strong opinions...just that to calm everyone down, I am willingly to sit on my views right now. Racial/ethnic prejudice and religion aren't the kind of topics that ANY group of people can discuss without getting emotional, and often a little out of control. Come to think of it, THEY are the two leading causes of war (along with everyone's favorite, $$$). Anything we are willing to kill each other for is a "trigger" topic, I'd say... I usually take such topics into one-on-one or smaller venues if I have any hopes of carrying on a reasonable discussion. On a list with 1,000 viewpoints, any of these could easily run a week or two, and will eventually result in several folks unsubscribing from the list and many, many more posting "please STOP this thread" posts. (Because folks will carry the topics far beyond any relevance with Jewel...) And yes, they ARE relevant since Jewel chooses to write about them in song lyrics and discuss them in interviews. My over-riding concern right now is for the list to come back together first, then discuss such violatile subjects from a position of security and mutual respect. Right now she is known for ballads and I think the first release should be something a bit peppyer then YWMFM but still holding that ballad sense. here are some suggestions Here When Gone 1,000 Miles Away Sometimes It Be That Way Grey Matter If This Is What Love Is just a thought Danke, Casey P.S. I don't think the quirkey songs will ever be released. But wouldn't it be cool with an album of these songs 1. MOPGGTW 2. Cold Song 3. Race Car Driver 4. Kiss Your Ass 5. IGTBMTYDB 6. Buttercup 7. Fish Family 8. Money 9. Fraglie Flame 10. Other quirkey numbers you could call the album "Songs that took me five minutes to write" (just kidding) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 09:42:38 -0400 (EDT) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: first release off new album On Tue, 29 Apr 1997, chris a detar wrote: > personally, i would vote for "my own private god's gift to women" i > think the song is a hoot, and could have such a funny video to accompany it. I have vague recollections about Jewel saying something along the lines of "You (i.e. fans) would have to make due with bootlegs," of MOPGGTW. Let me know please....<< >>i've thought for awhile now, that there ought to be a mass reproduction of these j-cards. i got crappy photocopies, and in turn, i am forced to give crappier photocopies to the newbies and folks for whom i copy jewelstock.<< Folks can contact me via email and I will happily supply clean (1st gen 600 dpi laser) j-cards for the "Paradise" and "JewelStock" designs that I originally created. All I ask is that you send me an SASE (email me for my snail mail address). If you are taking care of multiple newbie requests, I'll give you a hand as well. On the idea of supplying j-card designs for all to distribute over the web: the designers of all "officially treed" tape j-cards have already discussed it at length, and would rather not do it that way... including the obvious problem of folks generating bad photocopies from inferior printouts from reduced resolution files! We all spend a good deal of time in the design of these and want them to be distributed in as high quality as possible! Like I said, I'll accomodate anyone who requests them with FIRST GENERATION PRINTOUTS. Also please keep in mind that the JewelStock tapes should ONLY be dubbed for other list members (as per Jewel and Lenedra)... they were released to us with that ONE stipulation, so please respect it.
