ALL OF 'EM, HUH? Gee, I suppose that you would have had to been in that room too, eh? ;-) Hey folks, complain about specifics if you have to complain at all. I imagine this person probably felt ignored or maybe said something that got "corrected" by someone else... And yeah, the Thursday night chat room can seem pretty clicque-ish (hey, I'm probably seen as one of 'em...), but don't overreact like this. It's embarrassing. A couple of quick bits of advice about how to thrive on this list: 1) Listen more than you talk. God gave you two ears, one mouth. (Notice the ratio there?) 2) THINK, don't react. 3) If you feel a flame coming on, type it up. Then go to bed. If you're still pissed off the next day, send it. Otherwise, feel good about having been wise enough to sleep on it first. 4) Invariably, one sentence posts usually waste everyone's time (good or bad ones). 5) If you screw up on the previous guidelines, simply apologize if need be, laugh it off and learn from your mistakes. Hello all...it's me again, here to plink my two pennys on the table of the Oiuja discussion. Oiuja boards have been around for quite a while...I don't have dates or books to back any of this with since my entire ocult library in en route to Fairbanks right now but I am sure we all agree there really old. The idea of using a board and some letters in conjunction with "blind chance" to spell out answers is well founded. Concider for a moment that you are in fact using you subconcious mind to move the pointer. Is this nesicarily a bad thing? How many times to do we go to "divinary" means to answer questions we could probably answer on our own if we were more in tune with ourselves? "Should I take this job?"..."Is he/she the right guy/girl for me?"...etc. So even if it is your subconcious mind does it really matter? Secondly, the common beleif in the metaphysical circles is that your subconscious mind is the mind that is most in tune with your intution and the "spirt/other/higher/etc." plane. If this is so, again what is the problem if it is just one of you moveing the pointer? Human beings are capible of amazing bouts of insight...you should never discount yourself or anyone elses "gut feeling". As for Oiuja that are sold in a store not haveing "power", I once saw a ritual of evokeation done with a Burger King drinking cup and a plastic knife...and beleive me it worked! Where or how you purchase your "tools" is not important, it all comes from you or through you anyway. As for Oiuja being dangerious....this is a tricky subject. One the one hand it is only dangerious depending on what questions you ask. Everyone has a "dark part" of there being. Not to say that it is "evil" so to speak , just a part of you that you hide from yourself for whatever reason. It could be that all the "demons" people summon to there Oiuji boards are mearly thoose dark parts of there soul. Now I am not saying that I am right and everyone else is wrong. There very well could be Demons from the pitt out there that are attracted to Oiuji boards...or Angels that are attracted to the same. But most of the Angels I have seen I have seen in the flesh on good ol Sol Terra...and all the demons have been here as well. Just a thought...and two pennies. :) Love ya... I realize my approach to it wasn't fair for *everyone*, but I couldn't think of a better way at the time to do the contest. I didn't want to do an auction cause I'm not after the money. I think what the WHOLE list needs to do very soon, is think of some *standard* for having contests. Something that would be fair to everyone and would be the ONLY format that is ever used to provide material to other EDA's. Without a standard format, there will ALWAYS be people upset. Of course this takes away all individualism, but at least everyone (I hope) would be happy. There are no fair ways for 100% of the people 100% of the time, but maybe we could all think of something that would work for 95% of the people 95% of the time. I personally have missed out on about 10 items related to Jewel! Not because of money, but because I wasn't logged into my e-mail account at the time. But that's life. I didn't care cause I know everyone can't always win all the time. So from now on, I think this list should develop a format that all contests, giveaways, etc., are run by. If not, all the letters I received regarding this matter (you know who you are), and this letter as well, are all pointless. Maybe one of the more experienced EDA's could give us a few options and there could be a vote on what format will have to be used. But then again, what if someone wasn't logged in at the time of voting? Or was out of town? See, it never ends. A simulcast wrapped up the Jewel feature week at Mediadome.com on April 4th. Jewel was the recipient of her second Best New Female Artist Award in the 3rd Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. Add this to the American Music Award she won earlier, before being snubbed at the Grammys. And a final note on the 97 Grammy Awards; When asked about the near see through dress, "It's hard to realize that these things go out to millions of people," she said. Some are more serious than others but this is just a list of everyone whose shown an interest. As the concert gets closer, I'll have this narrowed down to the EDA's that are *for sure* going to be there. If you don't see your name here and want to go, then please e-mail me, Farr, or Christina with your info. (Their e-mail addresses are below) Or if you see any incorrect info about you on this list, please let one of us know. Each name with a "*" by it means that this person has shown interest in attending the tailgate party being held Friday, June 20. As the concert gets closer, the "tailgate EDA's list" will be narrowed down to those that are *for sure* going to attend. *Any EDA's that will need a place to stay OR can offer a place for other EDA's to stay, please e-mail Farr. He is compiling a list with this info. * In future updates, I hope to have a list of several hotels near the concert site for those of you wishing to make reservations soon. *Anyone that needs a ride or can give a ride to others, please e-mail Christina about that. She is keeping a list of carpool info. Also, if anyone sees another person here from their area on this list, you might try just sending them a letter to arrange a ride if possible. If so, please let Christina know so she can update her list. - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** ROCKFEST '97 EDA LIST *** ============================= *Angela DiIulio - Fort Worth, TX - earthsis@spindle.net *Christina Ferrara - York, PA - cferrara@eagle.ycp.edu *Derrick Karacostas - Hitchcock, TX - dkaracos@marlin.utmb.edu *Farr Shepherd - Tecumseh, OK - obie1@ou.edu *Demian Blair - Pittsburgh, PA - dblair@aecnet.com *Laura Capello - Kansas City, MO - cap8116@kcmetro.cc.mo.us *Michael Cherman - Newport Beach, CA - mcherman@uci.edu *John Cummings - Columbus, OH - cummings.65@postbox.acs.ohio-state.edu *Bill and Carrie Dallner - Chicago, IL - dallfin@flash.net *Duff, lastname - city, state - tjtalken@aol.com *Douglas Stephen Garay - Dallas, TX - dsg0001@jove.acs.unt.edu *Jon Hargett - Auburn, AL - e-mail address *Jennifer Hicks - Atlanta, GA - gs14jrh@panther.gsu.edu *James Judd - Auburn, AL - James.Judd@Eng.Auburn.EDU *Steve Mier - Omaha, NE - e-mail address *Luke Nye - Omaha, NE - jnye@probe.net (may ride with Steve) *Mike Spring - Orlando, FL - exit28@juno.com *Dan Stark - Windsor, Ontario - danstark@MNSi.Net *John-Eric Stevens - Roseville, CA - calstvns@ix.netcom.com *Amelia Vlah (Mia) - Cleveland, OH- asv@po.CWRU.edu (riding with Dan Stark) *Andy Wang - Seattle, WA - Andy.Wang@MSNBC.COM (news media guy) Sandy Andrews - Orlando, FL - andrewss@db.erau.edu (riding with Mike Spring) Angel , lastname - city, state - angel82@concentric.net Becca, lastname - Houston, TX - LikeHi@aol.com Dan Bogacz - Pittsburgh, PA - (riding with John Fisher) Richard Chang (Akira) - city, state - sdf4@ix.netcom.com Will, Cheng - Sugarland, TX - soul42@aol.com Tien Dang - Houston, TX - tdang2@Bayou.UH.EDU Dan Faissol - San Francisco, CA - faissol@home.com John Fisher - Cincinnati, OH - 2fishnet@concentric.net Kate Fisher - York, PA - (riding with Christina) Michael Garnett - Peoria, IL - garnett@webtv.net Kira Green - city, state - afrodzak@worldnet.att.net Mark Hardy - city, FL - musicman@beaches.net Tessa "Harris" - El Paso, TX - asset.moo@mail.utexas.edu Katherine Hendry - Blue Point, NY - khendry@ic.sunysb.edu Tyler Holsapple - Lubbock, TX - holsapple@ttu.edu Karen, lastname - city, FL - KarenFL5@aol.com Stacy Katz - Houston, TX - stacy@nol.net Rachel Martin - Manassas, VA - ramarti5@vt.edu Ashe Mayfair - St. Joseph, MO - mayfair@ponyexpress.net Laura Anne Mccasland - city, ND - mccaslan@prairie.NoDak.edu Thomas N. EDAs, I would have to agree with Dennis on this one. I am new to this list and therefore a newbie. I do not know many of the ettiques of an EDA but I feel that if we are true EDAs then we should love each other, not insult each other. If you were offended by what a specific person said then you should email them privately. Being a newbie there are times when I felt left out in the chatrooms too but I don't get mad about it! If you stick around long enough usually another EDA will acknowledge your existence. Hell, I found a "parent" in the EDA chatroom. So "please be careful with me, I'm sensitive, and I'd like to be that way"!!! :) mary Wannabe Angel "In the end only kindness matters" ~Jewel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #280 ***************************
