Hands manifest thought" is perfect for the other side of the picks. Maybe we can put the angel logo with "Everyday Angels" on one side and "Hands Manifest Thought" on the other. It should be possible because the picks that I use from the Guitar Center have their logo (an outline of a guitar and the words "Guitar Center") on one side, and then on the other side they have three lines of text of which the longest line has 15 letters. Mandy is going to check with them tomorrow to see if we can get something like that. On Monday I woke up feeling a little slow(and slightly hungover) but after a warm shower and my morning cup of coffee, I had a feeling that I was going to have a good day. Needless to say I spent the better half of the morning out in the sun with a couple of buddies(in between class), enjoying the summer air. It then occured to me that since it had been a little over a week since I sent out for my angel food that I would get it in the mail. I got home in the afternoon and nothing was in the mail, oh but fear not for my mood did not wane.. Then when I was on my way back to school, the mailman(sorry for all you pc people out there, I don't buy into it so I will not say mailperson ) :} and what did I see in his hands? Yep my envelope with my food. I think I scared the shit out of him when he saw me come running towards him(I should say that I do not live in too good of an area, ya know with all the crackheads around and all), so there I was enthralled with happiness, fending off all my friends who wanted to "borrow" my tapes. I would like to take this opportunity to say I have been enjoying it for a day and a half now and I would also like to send a shot(of J.D.'s or maybe gin would be more appropiate) out to Scott Broughton for feeding me. Ok, I see now that some people might have missed the original post cause it was stuck in there with some other trash or the "I only got ever other digest" problem or whatever else. So here again is what you need to do to get in on this contest: I have been thinking about musicals latly. So about a mouth ago I was thinking how I could turn the songs on PoY into a musical with just a case of charaters and a plot to string em together (and I'll do this myself just to show you I'm not above it ;]). So I desided to make my next wave of tape making into a contest and see what other EDA's could do with this. So here is the deal: I want you people to make a musical out of Jewel songs! What you do is take 10 Jewel songs (no more, no less... just a personal choice) and make them in to a musical. The musical should have a cast of charaters (there is no story without charaters :]) and a plot. Now I'm not saying that it has to be a fully writing musical with diolioge and such (but it can if you want ;] I unlike my old english teachers I don't have any problem with reading a big long story :]) but it needs to be at least an outline of it or a treatment (if you don't know don't ask) of this story. You can use any of Jewel's songs you like. This contest will end on the 20th of April (my b-day thank you very much... and oddly enough a pay day for me.. and sadly enough it's Hitlers b-day too *sigh* that pissed me off.. oh well :]). If you need an extention please E-mail me (tho that should be because you have somthing big planned and not because you put if off :p). NOTES: I hope to put these the submissions up on my page in the soon-to-be-up contest page. The first thing you should say in your E-mail to me is "Yes you can put this on your page" or "no you can not". I won't include anyones E-mail addys so don't worry about getting weird E-mail about this from strangers that stummble on my page. Also, please put the worsd "Jewel Musical" in the subject line (and only those words. That way I don't deleat your entry by accident. PROBLEMS: Ok, ok. I know this contest will take some work on your part. Well sorry if I try to bring out the creative side in everyone. I think you all can handel it tho. Then there is the problem that some of the people that are intersted in entering havn't heard many Jewel songs. Well, in that case, there are still the songs on PoY, and the soundtracks, and my web page (http://www.ponyexpress.net/~mayfair), and Adams web page (Pieces of Jewel, link form my links page), and then the "Audio Only" page (also on my links page). This should give you plenty of songs to work form. "So what's in it for me?": Well, that all depends. If you are still looking for tapes, then ALL of my tapes are up for grabs. That includes copies of Jewelstock. All of my Tapes can be found on my page (the tapes page... and I just got two new tapes today that I havn't put on the page yet). Also, I would be willing to make copies of some of my Jewel vidioes (such as the infamous Tronto show video, and the much desired Hard Rock Live show). I MIGHT (these is a BIG might) end up buying some copies of the soundtracks (The Craft and such) and/or the Wiz-O-Oz Cd or somthing, to give away. We'll see. If I had extra shirts and poetry books to give out I would... but I don't.. sorry. Ok, I think you all get it now. Everyone that is intersted PLEASE send me an E-nail saying that you want in (or you could just send me your submission if you like). I will post somtime tommorow with my take on this Jewel musical thing (as in... MY JEWEL MUSICAL!!) just for the hell of it. So look for that. Also I will have the Contests page up somtime tommorow. If you have any questions just E-mail me. Thanx angels. - -Ashe Mayfair: The Longshot Angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Apr 1997 00:56:21 EDT From: sparksmark@juno.com (Sparks the Everyday Angel) Subject: Jewel covering Christmas songs? I really don't know about that, considering YWMFM was half written by certain Rugburn, SP. One thing I would like to add is that before I went to the Jewel concert in Detroit, I was not all that big a fan of the Rugburns, but that all changed after their set. I hate to say it, but I have more fonder memories of the Rugburns at the show, than Jewel. Not that there is anything wrong with that. She was still spectacular. I just thought the Rugburns were friendlier and much more crowd friendly. Just my 2 cents worth. Who really cares?
