Subject: NJC: return of the beaver Ok, I'm back from my spring break. lots of relaxtion. too much relaxation, in fact, I'm experiencing the shock of responsibility once again. Oh well. I didn't unsubscribe for the break, and I'm eternally glad I did so. I would've missed all of the good stuff that happened in the last week. I would recommend that any people who post regularly on the list take a week off, change to digest, and then look everything over and come back. It gives you a great, more distanced perspective on things. As has been the fashion lately, I will give my spiel on NJC postings: The fact that all these people can get together and post whatever is on their mind (and have people actually read it and reply) comes as a grand feeling of empowerment for many, myself included. You can do whatever you want, you can say whatever you want. There is not (nor probably ever will be) any enforcement of etiquette rules. There is no filter through which your posts are edited. But, we all need to keep in mind that 700+ people ARE in fact reading your stuff. Not that they can really do anything about it (besides pass it right over, a wonderful ability: ignore-ance can be bliss on occasion), but that they have feelings same as yourself. The list is here, by some wonderful act of providence, but I wish everyone would do their best to do their best to the list. As a collective, I've received the opinion that the EDAs are here to enlighten, inspire, and assist one another, through the common admiration of Jewel. Again I stress that there are no rules; just pleas from the many sensitive people of this list, and the world. To repeat that wonderful adage; "Share publicly, Flame Privately" tim gavin P.S> the Chi, St. Louis, and KC concerts and accoutrements were a blast, I love all you people. P.P.S> all newbies (to whose ranks I often revert, heck, I'm really still a newbie at heart) disillusioned by the list: There are zounds of special people on this list, and their brilliance vastly outweighs the animosity of few. As Reggev said, the nastiest are usually the most vehement in their nastiness. And, I know that everyone, nasty or not, has the potential to be wonderful. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Mar 1997 22:49:01 -0500 (EST) From: YOEST4244@duq3.cc.duq.edu Subject: "Foolish Games" next single?
