We as Everyday Angels have always been one big circle of friends. In a very real way the Rugburns have become part of that circle, over the course of this current tour. Our friends the Rugburns have been rather unfortunate about receiving publicity and they, like Jewel once did, need our help. So what we need to do to help them, is the same thing that helped Jewel's "You Were Meant For Me" win over america. We need to call our local radio stations and request "Lockjaw" so to get the Rugburns more airplay. When we did this for YWMFM radio stations didn't play it right away, we got responses like "I'll see if I can find it" or "We are a hits station, but I'll play Who Will Save Your Soul for you if you want" and we will see more of the same. But like we did before, we can give the Rugburns a chance to be heard. Just to review, we are not Rugburn fans, we are not Jewelfans and we are not EDAs, we are a general sample of the music enjoying public population and we want to hear "Lockjaw" by the Rugburns. I don't have all of the radio stations that I used to because I lost my most updated list, but if you have a local radio station that plays Jewel, I'd love to add it to this list. Please open your hearts and give a few minutes of your time to help the Rugburns. After all, a friend of Jewel's is a friend of ours. Please do not forward this "warning" to anyone else. [From an email by M. Strata Rose, Postmaster at Synopsys] Letters about new viruses on the Internet have a way of becoming chain letters, and are generally full of misinformation. Please check with your systems administrator or help line before forwarding any letters concerning viruses. Official notifications of new viruses are clearly labeled as such and include full information on the government or industry agency which has issued the alert. Please do not forward chain letters, even "for a good cause". Almost every chain letter asking for emails, postcards, etc on the behalf of someone has turned out to be either misinformation [true once, but true no longer] or an outright hoax. Chain letters are not just a pain or an amusement -- they can cause real problems. Many Internet providers will pull a person's account for forwarding chain letters; forwarding one to a friend can inadvertently get them into trouble. The huge size of the net means that chain letters can propagate geometrically and several well-known incidents of global Internet slowdowns have been traced to chain letters. Letters regarding business opportunities may be of questionable legality. I'll hop off my sysadmin soapbox now. Right Jen? : ) > I know what you mean... but suggesting we remove someone from the list for a bad or negative comment is in itself a negative comment. Keep in mind that to be prepared for war you must know your enemy. Allowing these people to remain on the list will give us two benefits. One, we may be able to convert them and cause them to repent for their un-EDA attitudes. The other benefit is simple knowledge. We will know more about how some of these people think and therefore come up with better ways of showing them their faulty ideas... hence we are able to convert more of them before it's too late for each individual. Now, did I hear someone slamming my brother Dennis? Where's he at... let me at 'em... I'll pulvarize him... I'll murderlize him. Oh wait! Un-EDA thoughts... must resist. Think angelic. Ah... much better. I'm on line through web tv and right now have no access to printers, scanners, etc. Is it ok if I use pictures found on some of your web sites? I plan on having a page for credits, and I'll be giving credit to everyone whose pictures I do use. I just don't want to use your photos without permission. So please let me know. Also, if someone wants their site put in my links section give me the address and I''ll put it in. I'm not posting my web page yet because it's still under construction. Anyway please let me know soon if it's ok to use your Jewel photos. My deadline for my homepage is coming up quick so I have to finish it! This list would get pretty boring if all we ever did was talk about Jewel. There is only so much that can be said about her without 700 people repeating the same stuff. I got thi impression when I joined this list that I was joining a family, and that's what it turned out to be, a great big 700 member family. So many people on this list have been there for me already, and I've only been here a month... I read all the other posts about people needing help. We are supposed to be friends... isn't that what freinds are for? Helping each other when we are in need??? Just a thought. I think we've handled this before, but I thought I'd refresh those who weren't around. THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN AROUND A FEW TIMES. a. IBM stated online that they never posted this info. b. IBM wouldn't have been the firm to find it. c. It is impossible to get a virus from OPENING an email. It IS possible to get it from an attached file (if you open it), but not directly from the email. d. This is not the end of the world; It's a joke. For those who still don't trust me, read on and I'll prove more. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>VIRUS WARNING >>This information was received this morning from IBM, please share it >>with anyone that might access the Internet: > If there were such a virus, it would be on National TV. This is BS. If it's self-propagating, why does it need for the email to be opened? And better question.... what if you have six mailboxes on one machine. It can't search through them all, they have six separate file names on the machine. Also, how would it know how to send a message? This may seem like a simple question, but consider how many email programs there are. Each one has different codes for sending new messages..... As I said, BS! >>his virus will destroy your hard >>drive, and holds the potential to destroy the hard drive of anyone >>whose mail is in your in box, and whose mail is in their in box and >>so on. Ray, I love the sentiment of your post!! I have found this phenomenon of our list 'family' very hard to explain to outsiders. They just don't seem to understand that, while Jewel is the glue that binds us, there is sooo much more to us than just Jewel (not that Jewel isn't enough). For you newer EDA's out there, rest assured that you are welcome here, and that we love you all, regardless of any little mistakes you may make from time to time. (I think we ALL still make them, anyway) And if you ever get the chance to meet other EDA's, DO IT!!! I still get warm fuzzies when I reminisce about the few gatherings that we have been able to make. I only wish we could make more of them!!! If you're unsure of how to approach something, or if you should, ask!! Rachel has the wonderful ANN program, and if you don't have a 'parent', just ask someone you trust on the list!! ok, I'll shut-up now.........
