It is so hard to write this letter. I know that LizStock is going to be one great gathering. It looks like Liz will have a gathering of EDAs traveling from all over the East Coast and Mid West. Why is it that here in the home of Jewel, beautiful sunny Southern California, we are only able to get a few EDAs together at a time. This is even at events that we know that Jewel is going to make a suprise appearence at. I am not ready to admit defeat and have come up with a way many of us can share in the fun of LizStock. The idea came to me this weekend at the Poptopia Festival in LA. I went to see Cindy Lee Berryhill perform. Larry G met me and Vanessa, my daughter, at Alligator Lounge to see her. The festival was being held all over LA in different venues. We went backstage to talk to Cindy. Paul Williams, her boyfriend, was also there. He has just recently joined our list. Cindy is really very much in this EDA family that is forming in San Diego. She is a friend of Jewels. She also sat in for three songs with the Rugburns the same night Jewel did at Java Joe's. She has gained the respect of many other EDAs. She let Larry tape her show so he could share her music. Besides, she is a great artist that could be enjoyed by the same people that like Jewel. Well here is my plan. Feb 15th she is again playing at Java Joe's in Ocean Beach. It is a perfect time for a West Coast gathering. The spirit of Jewel and the Rugburns is inbedded in the walls of the club. The place brings out the best of everyone that plays there. I will bring my cell phone to the show. With Cindy's permission and with Liz's, I would like to call during the show and during a song that I would ask Cindy to dedicate to the EDAs at LizStock. I might even get her to talk to Toledo from the stage. She is such a wonderful person. I'm sure she would agree to do it. For this to work, I will need your phone number Liz. And for maximum participation, it would be best if you had a speaker phone. Liz, how many people do you have confirmed as going. West Coasters lets fill the place and make some noise and have some fun. If anyone else has ideas to help bring us all together and share in the fun of LizStock, please write me or Liz. Igor P.S. I just realized that if she starts playing at 9:00 and we do this after a few songs, it may be to late to call. It will be past midnight in Ohio and all you LizStockers will be sound asleep. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Feb 1997 23:30:05 EST From: mikegreenleaf@juno.com (Mike W Greenleaf) Subject: [none] I was wondering if anybody had any information on upcoming Jewel concert dates in or near Minnesota. Jewel's music is pure poetry in motion, and that will never change. Look at her videos, have they gone commerical? No, they have not. No bells, whistles, lights, or fancy props, just her and the music, the music of love and life. Rarely in history does a performer emerge whose voice and message can so captivate the audience, be in tune with human emotions, and reflect what a truely good person one can be. Jewel's music should be shared with the world, it would make it a better place for all of us to live. The music, the message, the love, the life. That is what she is about, not money. She has kept her true image of innocence, has not made herself the target of the media, and has kept her music as melodic and graceful as ever.
