Demian and others I did not realize all the chaos I have created would have come to this. I do in my everyday life tend to get myself in trouble because of my mouth. But this is what I am around. I cannot help the person I have become because this is how I grew up. Yes, at one point I was not a foul mouthed urban punk. I treated everyone with respect and yes never ever used profanity. I guess I was the nice kid in class that was pretty soft spoken. But as it comes to terms, people take advantage of people like that. And niceness is interpreted as a sign of weakness. Most of my life I have done what people wanted me to do and I did it. But those days are in the past now. How am I to change my attitudes? There is to much conflict that surrounds me everyday and all I really have to unwind is listening to jewel. Just here to inform you that O.J. Simpson was found guilty of the wrongful death/murder of Ron Goldmun and must pay about 8 Million dollars for Ron. He was found guilty of beating Nicole Simpson but not wrongful death/murder but doesn't have to pay anything. Now for all of you who are not affluent with what this exactly means. What it says is that O.J. has to pay for the murder that the jury in the civil trial says he committed. Now the difference between this trial and the other trial is that in the criminal trial he was found not guilty(but not innocent) in the eyes of the law. In a criminal trial a person has to be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. That means the jury has to think he is guilty no if's, ands or buts. In a civial trial the jury must believe that he most proboly did it. So for all of you out there who believe he got off with murder, well he didn't he has to pay with pretty much everything he owns(except his freedom). For those of you who think he is innocent, well then he is paying for something he didn't do. As for my legal disortation above, I'm sure it is proboly slightly flawed because I am not a lawyer, but I think I know at least a large amount. And if I'm wrong well correct me if you wish. bruce p.s. as for the President of the United States, state of the union adress well he talked alot about education, which is something that needs to be dealt with in america. Well, don't despair! All you have to do is go visit that uncle with the big satellite dish on his front lawn, boot him off the Golf Channel for the night and tune in the show on satellite audio! As James McGarry pointed out, the concert is on sometime during the 5-hour "Realtime" program, Saturday, March 1st on CBC Stereo radio. You can pick up the audio feed on any large-dish satellite receiver as follows: CBC Atlantic: 7pm-mid Atlantic time (6-11pm Eastern) Anik E2, Channel 6, 6.12/6.30 Discrete Stereo CBC Eastern: 7pm-mid Eastern time Anik E2, Channel 6, 5.76/5.94 Discrete Stereo CBC Pacific: 7pm-mid Pacific time Anik E1, Channel 10, 5.76/5.94 discrete Stereo "Realtime" is also broadcast on the web using RealAudio. You can either hear the show live, or later on demand, at: http://realtime.cbcstereo.com/html/audio.html As far as I know, CBC Stereo is not carried on any of the DSS mini-dish systems, like DirecTV or Echostar, so the satellite info only applies to the large-dish systems. But the broadcast isn't until March 1st, so you still have almost a month to get to Krazy Bob's satellite store and pick up that home entertainment system you've always wanted! In other news, tickets for Jewel's Detroit show (Sunday, March 16 at the State Theatre) will go on sale at 10:00am Saturday morning. Even I(Sean Hooks), the foremost anti-popularity for Jewel person on this last for nearing a year now, doesn't think she is consciously selling out, she does happens to be selling to a pop audience, that's her record company trying to make money. Her music has remained true and has even gotten better I think. Her new songs are very well written and are fuller than before in many cases. To the guy who says she's selling out, don't pay him too much mind, he's the same kind of guy who would have crucified Dylan for going electric of misread Springsteen's Born in the USA as a sellout jingoist anthem. Jewel is not selling out. She is making money, more than anyone expected is all. So she is delaying the new album, I have already described in a couple of posts why this may actually turn out to be a good thing that weeds out some of the bandwagon pop fans. Selling out is when you change your music just to fit in to the current trend. Examples are how Jefferson Airplane became Starship in the 80s and played ballad pop instead of cultural rock, or how Metallica jumped on the alterntive bandwagon, abandoning their roots in metal, or Alannis Morisette who is trying to capitalize on fake female anger, listen to Tori Amos for real non mainstream anger that is real, there's a difference. There are three examples of selling out. Jewel is not writing songs to fit in with musical trends, she has not been changed by this I hope, at least she's not showing it anyway. Have a little confidence in her to stay grounded and true to herself and her music. She has little control over making videos or her songs being played on Top 40 pop radio. If you sa Jewelstock you know that she is not a sell out, that she just loves her music her fans and the ability to live off her love and have it make a little money in the process in a country where so few people are allowed to realize their dreams. Just the fact that she did something like Jewelstock, and will hopefully do another one, is another bit of evidence. I dislike her popularity but realize that it is not a calculated sell out move by Jewel. She is not a sell-out. Later, Sean Hooks "And what you fear the most will meet you half way." - -Victoria Williams ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #74 **************************
