Found out this morning that Jewel will be at the 9:30 Club in DC on 3/10/97 (Monday).  Tickets are 25 including service charge from Pro-Tix.

If anyone wants tickets, send me a mail first. (and very soon).  I will probably order by 10:00 am friday (today).  The venue holds less than 1000 and will sell out.  The number for pro-tix is 703.218.6500

On a side note, remember to good old days when you could see Jewel for 8 bucks?

I just joined the list, I heard about on the Dar list, and asked people 
how to get on. After hearing save your soul and you were meant for me on 
VH1 and the latter again on the radio, I finally got the crazy urge to 
subscribe....perhaps to force myself to buy the CD...no I haven't yet...I 
was watching MTV's top 100 countdown of '96 and Save Your Soul was in 
there, and I thought I had heard it before, and then last week I heard 
YWMFM on the radio, and the fact that I liked both songs this much was 
enough to make me want to get the CD...but being the adolescent that I 
am, I do not have money to spend, and I have to find it somehow...so 
anyway, I have to go, but any information on jewel, the CD(I also think 
it'll be cool cause I always like the songs they don't give airplay better),
and list stuff would be greatly appreciated. Thanx..

Nobody better mess with Toad.  I was on their mailing list before I 
joined the jewel list.  Toad does have a few videos out including "Walk 
on the Ocean","Somethings Always Wrong"-this one is the home shopping 
channel vid.  I've seen them in concert w/ the cranberries.  Lets just 
say it was an awesome show.  

	BTW, check out the Dulcinea Enhanced CD.  It rocks.  Pale is also 
really good.

First of all, I can't get any email from my aol account.  If for some
strange reason anyone wanted to contact me directly, please use this

Second, and importanly, I'm pissed because nobody has come up with a
solution to a problem that is IMHO a threat to the very fundamental
freedom and energy that has brought this disparate crew together in the
first place.

In my view, the First Amendment guarantees that you have the right NOT
to remain silent.
Hypothetically, how would ANY of you feel if somebody told you you were

Unfortunately, about all I know about how computers work is what I've
learned from the tech geniuses on this list, plus how to send email
(sometimes).
So, IF -- hypothetically -- this *problem* were to occur, let's say a
*net nanny* for example, how would the angeltech geniuses solve it?
Reward goes to the first to actually come up with a step-by-step
solution that works (and that even a youngster or clueless *adult* could
follow).  Of couse, if the problem were more than just hypothetical, the
solution would be its own reward.

I love music.
About 2 years ago, there was a bar band nobody had heard of, that I wanted to
see, because I liked an ep I had heard.
(The band was called hootie and the blowfish ;-0).
I went.  They sounded the same live as on their record; it was NOT a
religious experience for me.
Just so happens that hootie was not the headline act.  Not even the opening
act.
(The opening act was Boxing Gandhis -- a GREAT live band, far, far better
than their recordings.)
The headline act was Toad.  I had heard some of their stuff on the radio and
liked it, but they hadn't real
WHOA!!
What a great show! A religious experience, definitely.
And I've seen a zillion shows!
About a year and a half later, I was talking to the cameraman at an Ani
DiFranco show at the Mayan cesspool in L.A.  (a great show, too, but no place
for an aging hippie).
We got to talking about Jewel (anyone hear of her?), and Toad.  Turns out the
guy is pals with the Toad people; they're Jewel fans, too!
Anybody who disses a Jewel fan has to contend with me!!
(I'll be standing right behind Igor).

the trivia question of the week adn the question as...."This countdown artist
lived in her car, before signing with atlantic record" now this was a TOUGH
question...So the went to commercial and when the came back they annouced
that the awnser was jewel (duh) and then cut to a clip of her talking about
living in her car...and being poor (its getting old jewel...) and then
kennedy came back on and said how much she LOVES jewel and then they played
YWMFM (its at #9 on the countdown!!!!!)

YAY

We know jewel has finally hit the big time when she becomes part of MTV
trivia =)

Hello all!!
	Firstly I must say that I am new to this list so, HI! (That must sound
really tacky!)
	Secondly, I am from Australia, and through no fault of my own, the
record company has decided not to particulary promote Jewel's Album (
except for a worlwind tour by her last year, at which point I had never
heard of her), nor does she get much airplay, which in itself is pretty
pathetic because the best station in town is currently on an AC/DC
binge!!! We dont have VH1 or MTV, we have only JUST yeas JUST had access
to cable TV in the past 6 months. So please dont complain and only chat
about the goodness and honesty that is Jewels music. Because you people
are the only source's of information I am able to recieve on this
amazing artist!!!

This is something that I thought the first time I heard her make a comment
about waitressing and such being degrading.  I agree that it is not for
everyone, but I kind've took offense to that (forgive me, it was just my
first reaction).  My mother practically raised us on waitress wages (she was
15 when she had me, got married, had my sister,  got divorced - he was very
bad to her -) and still succeeded in being a wonderful mom who worked her a$$
off to support us.  Now she has finished college herself (2 years ago) and is
working in the field she always wanted to.  Yes, I'm very proud of her.

Now, this is not a gripe, just my first reaction, as some have seen her as
pretentious.  I understand her philosophy, I just think that it isn't a
possibility in all walks of life.

Sorry if this offended anyone and thanks for listening.  :-}

Hi all,

Yes I've finally got the album, by jove its taken them four weeks
, but at least Virgin could deliver the goods. I must say the first
time I listened to the CD it was disappointing because I had heard
different versions of some of the songs. Who agrees that the version
of 'Foolish Games' on the crossroads CD is better than the one on the
album.  Also I have heard a different version of YWMFM as well (it was
slightly faster and more upbeat), which I thought was better than the
version on the album.

What does everyone else think?

Also I was disappointed that WWSYS was the fastest song on the album,
I know jewel likes to sing live with an acoustic guitar, but the music
in WWSYS is excellent and maybe some more music would have made this
album more memorable.  The lyrics are excellent, and she has a superb
voice .... I can't wait for the next album.  Does anyone know what
songs are on it?

I think its a good sign when you don't like the whole album to begin
with because it grows on you more. Like Alanis Morisette's album, I
didn't like all the songs to begin with, but after listening to it a
few times I got used to them. Hope that happens here!

By the way I heard the song 'My Own Private God's Gift to Women' on
the piece's of jewel webpage. Its a hit!!! They must release this
track, if produced right I think it could be number 1 easily.

Anyway gotta go,

Subject: My Trip to the Jewel World Series !

I'm doing 4 shows in 4 days.  I will be tired. I will be cranky. I 
will probably end up screaming every time I hear "but first, I have
 to tell you this story". BUT Jewel will be in good spirits every night,
 amazing me with her ability to put up with a lot of work and be 
happy about it.  It's going to be quite a stretch. I'm taking along my
 trusty travel companion and punching bag, Paul Kim, for support,
 both mental and physical.  Here's the itenerary :

Thurs. Feb. 20th : Mt. Holyoke College, South Hadley,  MA
Fri. Feb. 21st : Orpheum Theatre, Boston, MA
Sat. Feb. 22nd : Flynn Theatre, Burlington, VT
Sun. Feb. 23rd : Palace Theatre, New Haven, CT

I'd like to know, out of blatant curiosity, who else is going to each

    I just spent a long time on the phone with Lenedra
and I have answers to almost everything anyone is

female musicians, like Tracy Chapman and Janis Joplin, along with Jewel.

In the beginning of the YWMFM video, when she's singing the part that goes
"I feel so far from where I've been, I got my eggs, and my pancakes too"
and it shows a closeup of her face, she is SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I want to get
a screen capture of that and print it and make a poster with JEWEL written
at the bottom... and then sell copies for $7 EACH!!! I like it when
beautiful singers don't wear makeup, or very little makeup.. like Alanis or
Jewel. BTW, When Jewel releases her new CD, will she still go by just
Jewel, or Jewel Kilcher? I think she should go by the name Jewel Kilcher,
but that's JMRSO.

1. I went to Disc Jockey yesterday and got the YWMFM CD single! HORRAY!!
It's really good! It has the new YWMFM and Foolish Games. the new YWMFM is
GREAT!!

2. I searched for the WWSYS single, and they didn't have it! =-( Sad! What
songs are on it, and is it worth purchasing? Because they would
special-order the european versions of it...

T's.
One other has a tour drawing that Jewel did herself, and the 4th is a graphic
of an "old bar sign" that has a computer generated JEWEL on it. I forget
exactly
what Lenedra said(I was writing furiously) but I believe Jewel's friend BiBi
took
 the original bar sign photograph.
      (By the way, Lenedra did ask me to relay a message about
the making of a list T. She asked  that whoever is doing them to 
please NOT use any of Jewel's artwork, lyrics, or poetry on them.
I know this has been suggested. )
      There will also be a beautiful Tour Program with many color
photographs,
Poetry & thoughts from Jewel.

       OK. Thats all I can handle at the moment & I thought tour dates took

Hi again,
     Sorry bout not making sense on the unnannounced
Rugburns gig info. Larry just pointed out that I contradict
myself on the date. I have 18 pages of notes & I messed
up on that.
      I wrote down Feb 1st, not March 1st. Well that would
be TONIGHT wouldn't it! 
      So I realize its either tonight or Feb 10th & I forgot
to write the zero, which I think is the case. Sorry to be
so vague on this but its a scribble among lots of others.
       All other info posted so far is correct.  Hey, check 
out both shows & play it safe!  :-)
         
        While I'm here, heres some info that I know will
thrill a few of you. I know Mike & I have had this on
our "wish list".  Sometime during the last few weeks
of February or early March, Jewel will finally  be 
interviewed by the absolute best in my opinion. Yes,
Mike old buddy, she's doing Charlie Rose's show. If you
have never watched Charlie interview, you are in for a treat!
Regardless of the guest, he's consitantly brilliant &
unquestionably this will be the best broadcast interview
she's ever done. No date has been set but I'll keep you
updated as I can.
      Sorry bout my confusion on the secret Rugburns gig.
I'm in CT, so now maybe a San Diego EDA can run with this
information & find out more.
