It's only mere minutes after the _Late Show_ and I'm quite dissapointed that David Letterman still doesn't think Jewel is worth having on the couch for more than the 30 seconds before the credits. Um, Dave, People want to hear her talk. I mean, "hands manifest thought" not withstanding, It's rare to see her get an interview like the session she had with Jon Stewart last week. Maybe Jay Leno will finally let 11:30 (10:30 Central) viewers hear Jewel say _something_. But, what she did perform was a surprise... We Jewel watchers were thinking "Foolish Games" would be the new song to get a push. Instead, she did a rather full-voiced "Near You Always" that I thought was kinda somber. Then again, my only references are Tower Records 3/96 and the POY track. Stirring, kinda different, prolly take me a couple more listens to get used enough to it to like it. I just saw Jewel on Letterman and I thought she was absolutely gorgeous and sounded great.
