Information on how to apply to be a 'branch' for these tapes is available in the companion post "TWO Jewel Tape Trees to now start - Dubbing volunteers needed!!" The 'leaf call' will be forthcoming in about two weeks. Like I said in the main post on these two trees, the Boston tape is the same show that many of you may already have, but believe me this re-master is far superior and is a 'must have'. Hey, I was wondering if anybody wanted to trade shows or something. I have plenty of Dave Matthews boots, and a few Pearl Jam, Blues Traveler, and Eric Clapton boots as well. I actually just started listening to Jewel, but I really enjoy her stuff...she's a very talented songwriter, and a pretty good guitar player to boot. Anyhow, I'll keep this post nice and short for now. Oh yeah, high quality stuff only. Your list gets mine. Oh yeah, I have absolutely _no_ Jewel boots, I only have Pieces of You. Thanks a lot! Paul ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 18:41:21 +0000 From: Tom Morales Subject: Jewel on CNN I just saw Jewel standing in between Julio Iglesia and Michael Douglas. She was wearing black pants and a black and white striped long sleeve blouse/sweater with sparkles. She didn't really look like she was having that good a time watch Al and his wife dancing. I couldn't get into that either. I hope they show her perform on some channel. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 18:16:14 +0000 From: Tom Morales Subject: NJC: Simpsons and Rugburns My son just filled me in on the reference to the Rugburns on the Simpsons the other night. He said that Marge had invested some money with her girlfriend and that they were discussing a future investment. Her friends wanted to invest in a risky venture and Marge said she thought that it sounded a little too risky. Then her friend replied that Marge was as popular as the Rugburns. Not an altogether endearing reference but any exposure is better than none. Like I said, my son filled me in so I don't know how accurate it is. If anyone saw it let me know as I would like to relate this story to them next time I see them in Santa Barbara. Thanks. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 22:04:36 -0600 From: garnett@webtv.net (Michael Garnett) Subject: njc: apology angels, i wanted to apologize to everyone for some remarks i posted recently about a certain member of this list. you are all capable of forming your own opinions and it was not right for me to try and impose my views on the rest of you. i know i would not appreciate it if something like this happened to me. so once again, you have my sincerest apologies for any problems this may have caused. it doesn't take a talent to be mean, you're words can crash things that are unseen... -jk garnett@webtv.net or jjkilcher@hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jan 97 23:33:09 -0500 From: Xenomorph Subject: JC: Jewel on CNN, .wav/week fixed Hi everyone, I just saw Jewel on CNN for a few seconds before 11pm. She looked good in a black and white top that I hadn't seen before, black slacks, some kind of glittering jewelry reflecting light. She was standing behind Mr. President Clinton and Hillary. Haven't seen any performance, however. It was earlier in the evening so it looks like it's over as far as Jewel goes. Clinton's already been on to a couple balls since the Jewel, Arkansas one. QVC was broadcasting from a DC ball of all places. It's pretty sad when you hear more music performances on a shopping network than on any music television stations (Hint: Wake up MTV, VH1!!) Wouldn't it be nice if someone started a Music network devoted to videos, news, music events, etc.? What a concept!! I wonder if anyone has ever thought of this...Hmmm. Anyone want to start a network with me? :) On another note, there was a problem with the new .wav of the week at my website. If you tried it, you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, it's fixed now and is a full 2.4 meg. If you're curious, It's a 5 min live version of God's Gift to Women, including 2 min introductory story from Hollywood, 1996. Now what I am wondering is if it was in fact Bill that decided to invite Jewel, or if there was some amount of influence from the first lady or perhaps even Chelsea. While watching a bit of the inauguration on the news today, I noticed that Chelsea was there (wow, an actual Chelsea appearance...sometimes people forget that the president actually has a kid...shows that Bill has been doing a good job keeping the media away from her, although it seems to be at the expense of himself.)
