Okay...First of all i just wanted to say that i am unsubbing for a week to spend christmas with my mom and little sibs (grrrrr) and i dont want 5 thousand messages when i get back =). So, if you have to talk to me...just send the mail and i'll either get it tomarrow before i leave (2 pm) or next sunday. On a totally different note... I was at the movies today (saw jerry maquire 4 times in 2 weeks!) and all of a sudden the song "If i only had a brain" (from the wizard of oz soundtrack) popped into my head (i dont know why damnit!) And every time Renee came on i heard the song...Then half way through the movie i started hearing "Some where over the rainbow" (another ditty from the Wizard of oz) and it wouldnt go away! so on the whole busride home i sat in the back of the bus (it was empty) and sang the song (no doubt the driver thought i was nuts) and i cant stop! it wont go away! I was going to do Under the water (i have a thing for soundtracks) but i am now thinking of doing this song...(it suits my voice better anyhow) And another thing about jerry maquire...While there is a very good resemblance to jewel in most of the movie...There is one scene that really sticks out...It is after Jerry and Dorothy break up and he goes on the road...and you see shots of how lonely they are without each other, there is a shot of Renee in bed...it is shot from above and slightly to the side and you would SWEAR it is the shot of jewel blowing the little boat on the YWMFM video...I swear to god...i was like "What happend???" Did anyone else see this???? (i pay ALOT of attention to camera angles in every movie i see...i'd make a good director) and one last thing this is kinda NJC...I got the Launch CD rom #10 today (Thatnks Dave) and there was a few song clips of mazzy star and she is great! i am going to buy her CD asap! She is a LOT more folky than Jewel though IMHO. but she has such a sweet voice (thats what i liked about WWSYS at first). Well i'm all done now....going back to semi-lurker status. (this is only my second post this week) Thirza oh..one more thing i thought was funny! I was listening to Z-100 at around 5 am (see i told you i dont sleep) and the night DJ came on and he intro'd Jewel's YWMFM with this.... "Some people have faces so cute you just wanna pinch their cheeks- Jewels one of those people for me"- (i forgot the guys name but it sounds like scary somethingorother) *kisses all around* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Dec 1996 01:11:24 -0500 From: Splugorth@aol.com Subject: Re: playboy poll In a message dated 96-12-21 20:21:21 EST, GetSelena@aol.com writes: << How many of you female EDA's really believe that the guys buy it mostly for the articles?? It is under some major re- construction right now at my home and will be unveiled, hopefully, around the new year. The addition of setlists (that are available) will be one of future improvements. I've always loved that part... my thoughts... cJ i love him.. but everyday i'm learning... all my life i've only been pretending... with out me his world would go on truning... a world that's full of happiness that i have never known... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Dec 1996 11:59:19 -0700 (MST) From: Chopped Liver Subject: Re: playboy poll On Sat, 21 Dec 1996, Mickey Sun wrote: > Do you people seriously think that Jewel will be happy to hear that she's been > awarded "Female Musician of the Year" from playboy??? This poll and other configurations of "best artist" awards the magazine has given are detatched from the recognized "Playboy philosophy", whatever that is. Besides, this mailing list is made up of individuals who act on their own. If you don't wish to participate in the Playboy deal, then don't. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone elses. I'd hate to see you leave over something so trivial. I bought Maxell XL-II's for $.45 each today, but the five packs are $5. CD's are 40% off, Cassettes 50% off. I felt like a K-mart shopper in the middle of a police parking lot today! Since there are so many irc networks, more than 15 public ones, the "offical" jewel channel is on undernet (/server US.Undernet.org) so to have the EDAs on the same net. I do not run a egg drop bot, or any bot. I've been so busy I've hardly have any time to do anything unproductive on the computer(this includes chatting), however I do stay on irc to keep from being logged off when I do need to use the internet(sorry if it offends anyone), or when my friends/family wants to talk to me( it's better then the MCI plan). The EDA meeting is on Saturday 8:00pm(Am I still correct on this?), and I will make my best to be there, there. As in really there, this Sat. Did I forget something....? I am not at all impressed with the Undernet. Their nameservers are unreliable and servers unresponsive. I have to look for undernet servers by their backbone location (preferably Sprintlink). - -- Andrew Vernon DNS is Death avernon@scott.net ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Dec 1996 22:15:33 -0600 (CST) From: Andrew Vernon Subject: Re: People Magazine Details Chris Phillips wrote: > Jewel is in People Magazine (25 Most Beautiful People issue) as a > Breakthrough for 1996. For those of you looking, here are a few things to help you find her: The issue is dated May 6, 1996. Mel Gibson is on the cover with insets of Michelle Pfeiffer, Brad Pitt and Brandy. Jewel appears on page 221, opposite of the second page of a pharmaceutical ad. Some of you may have caught the photo online-- She's lying on her side holding Big Blue inside the famous VW. Next year, I expect her to make the '50 Most Beautiful' list, just because there's just something so inviting about somebody with a model's face and a tooth a quarter-turn off center. - -- Andrew Vernon Jewel is Saving My Soul avernon@scott.net ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Dec 1996 22:43:13 -0600 From: Ashe Mayfair Subject: Jewel on 120 mins Just reminding all of us that are still here that Jewel will be on 120 minutes tonight....and soon.
