The deadline is now at the end of the year. If you really want to contribute, but would need some extra time for it, then talk to me about it. I'm easy. Hello everyone! Tom Proven and I would like to proudly announce that the Everyday Angels List Member Tape is officially under way. Basically, it's a chance for YOU, an EDA member, to cover your favorite Jewel song for all other EDA's to hear! If you can't play an instrument, then fine. Sing it a capella. Like Karen Carpenter said, "Don't worry if it's not good enough for anyone else to hear. Just sing. Sing a song." Here's a guideline of what I plan: - --------------------------------- 1) People email me the top *3* Jewel songs they would like to cover by August 9th. That gives everyone a little over a week to decide. Indicate whether or not you know how to play the songs, or if you need the chords and lyrics. If I don't know the chords to a song, I will post every few days or so a request to the list asking anyone who does to email me a copy. If no one answers the request, I'll try to figure it out or pass the buck over to Tom Proven. The reason I'm asking for your top 3 songs is to have an alternate, should someone else want to do the song. If there ARE conflicts (and I'm sure there will be), I will email all interested parties and ask if they would like to do their alternate pick. Hopefully, there will be a resolution, but if there is not, then we'll have different versions of certain songs. But that's okay. It'll also show which of Jewel's songs have the biggest impact on us. Remember, you don't have to be a Jewel clone and stay true to the original song. BUT if I get eight versions of WWSYS that all sound the same, some are going to get trimmed, unless there are noticeable differences or there are enough versions of the same song to justify its own separate tape. 2) Once the play list is settled, I will tell everyone where to send their tapes. I ask that people send me a copy of their cover, because bad things do tend to happen every once in a while through the mail. If I have enough tapes in, I will bring a sampling of what I have to the New Hampshire show to whet the appetites of the EDA's there and build up interest. 3) Hopefully, I will have all the tapes in by the end of August and can begin to compile them all. Depending on the amount of interest, I will either tree the tape or send them out myself (that would require really little interest). That's what I hope happens. It would really be beneficial to my sanity if this is done before or shortly after my fall semester starts. The biggest pain I see is figuring out what songs people will do and figuring them out. After that, it shouldn't be too bad. Other points I'd like to bring up: * When sending in your tapes, I'd appreciate it if people would include a picture. If I could put picture (or your band's) next to the song you cover and your name, it would make this tape much more personal. * If someone decides to do 3 songs, and they all sound spectacular, who am I to decide to only include ONE of their covers? But that is a "what if?" question that I will take into consideration should the problem present itself. If only a handful of people decide to contribute to the tape, then I will definitely allow for more than one cover. If I'm deluged by requests, then I may just have to limit it to one per person, lest we have a double tape. * Quality of the recordings will obviously vary, but I encourage everyone to use whatever is at their disposal. If all you have is your boombox, then so be it. But I wouldn't recommend going into a studio unless you really, really want to. I, myself, am just going to use a microphone that plugs into my tape deck. Hopefully, the quality won't vary significantly to force people to adjust the volume when they listen to each song. If someone has any experience and/or input in recording and copying (Mr.BB or Dan Stark?), please email me. * I have nothing against list members doing a cover solo, then another with other local list members and/or their band. Well, that's all I can think of. So everyone email me your requests, and if enough are sent in and done fast enough, I can guarantee you the song. And, in turn, this project can be done before everyone realizes it. Now, start practicing! eric montas :) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Dec 1996 13:47:20 -0600 (CST) From: "BRADLEY C. I found the humor. I put it right there with the Beavis and Butthead Do America bus outside. I admit, as hard as I try, I just don't find B&B amusing. I think the problem at the show was how they were presented. They were the "special guests". Last year Jewel was the special guest. This year The Bloodhound Gang was the set after Jewel, and before Social Distortion and Wall- flowers. They were way out of their league, pin pointing their crassness and questioning their talents. But regardless, there were those at the show that liked them, and it gave the majority others a break to smoke, get eats, and stretch. So they served there purpose wonderfully! :) Crunch! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Dec 1996 16:18:57 -0500 (EST) From: Jay Notte Subject: Re: Blasphemy and list celebs Clear some rome people!!!! The Boston show which is on this bootleg will be treed. We were planning to tree it before the bootleg came out and now that has pressed matters against. The tree will be seed from the Westwood One CD and an original copy of WBCN's broadcast of the show that way all of the songs will be recorded. I know a lot of people have trade with me for this show and can vouch for it's high quality (before The JS Tapes it was one of the best boots around). Please, don't send anything to me now to sign up as we are not ready (and I won't be running that part of the tree anyhow). I just wanted everyone to know that it was coming soon.
