These will all fit on one T-120 tape and I can do a 4-head to 4-head VCR dub of them. I would be willing to trade if you have original recordings of any TV appearances of Jewel that I don't have. In homes that can't be hooked to a public sewer system, they have a few choices. You can do it the way Jewel did it in Homer, with an outhouse. Or you can have a septic tank that sends the overflow down a series of pipes into a leach field and then nature takes over and filters it through the ground and bacteria takes care of the rest. Any other questions about septic systems can be answered privately. I now know a lot thanks to Tim. Tim was a stranger that I saw wandering through the back of my property. I saw him looking into my partially built swimming pool. He looked like an old hippie with long grey hair. When I went out to investigate, he asked if I was Igor. I was happy to know he wasn't trouble. He said my pool contractor sent him to look at my septic system. He reaches out to shake hands and introduce himself. People that do this kind of work always want to shake hands. Just like Norton from "The Honeymooners". Tim talked a bit like Forrest Gump. He couldn't fool me. I could tell he was a very bright person. He knew everything you would ever want to know about human waste and its disposal. I changed the subject and started probing him about how he got into this line of work. He said he used to be a computer programmer but liked outdoor work better. People always suprise you. Tim seemed to be an interesting person, so I continued talking to him about various subjects. I asked him if he liked music. He said not to much but when he went to college in Rochester, NY, he liked seeing folkies named Bat MacGrath and Don Porter. I couldn't believe it. They happened to be favorites of mine. Not to many people know of them. They had an album on Atlantic, back in the late 60's or early 70's. Now I want to hear more. He said he used to go see this new guy on flugelhorn named Chuck Mangione. He thought he was pretty good. Chuck happens to have a few gold jazz records under his belt at this point. What other suprises can this guy give me. What the heck. I asked him if he ever heard of Jewel. "Yea, I used to listen to her at the Lands End." Where the hell is that? "Oh, its on a spit off the coast of Alaska." You saw Jewel in Alaska? What's a spit? He described a piece of land that is almost an island, but attached by a small strip to the mainland. To make his point, he spits on the ground and starts drawing in the dirt to help me understand. "She was only about 12 or 13 and she would sing with her father." Have you ever seen her since? "Yea, she used to play in some small clubs in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach (San Diego) but a couple of times when I went, there was only a dozen people in the club to see her." He asked me if anything became of her. At that point I knew he was kidding and was a big Jewel fan. If anyone knows if The Lands End is a club in Homer, let me know. It was getting dark and I was freezing in my shorts. He left but will be back soon to do the work. I still can't believe that a total stranger comes into my yard and has this magnificent first hand history of Jewel to share with me. I'll try to find out more when he comes back. When I looked at his business card, his address was in Pacific Beach, home of the original Innerchange. Igor ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #817 ***************************
