Well everyone, courtesy of the Russians we here in Australia are awaiting the crash landing of a satellite carrying Plutonium! Oh joy! Oh bliss! We are all crowded around radios and TVs waiting to hear. Our Prime Minister interrupted children's TV this morning to tell us it was going to land somewhere on the east coast - that's where I am!! So the latest news is it's getting ready to crash about 15 hours north of where I am, on the New South Wales/ Queensland border...right near where my boyfriend's parents live....*gasp* *gulp* Just what we needed don't you think? Nope. It's hard to know what to say really. Did they really need to send a satellite to Mars? Would anything really be gained by getting there? I don't think so, not if you rish something going wrong like this... I'll keep you posted... Helen ------------------------------ From: hgladman@mgdestmx01.erin.gov.au Date: Mon, 18 Nov 96 12:20:47 EST Subject: NJC: The Satellite is coming! Ok so now they've changed their minds, just as I sent my last post. It's supposed to be crashing on or near New Zealand. Whew. That was close....not that I would wish anything like this on our neighbours....I have a feeling they don't know where it's headed. The destination has changed four times since I woke up this morning... Eh? Isn't this kind of defeating the purpose of the show? It was started to get the artists out of their normal medium (electric) and let them show their talent acousticly. Now I have no problem with Jewel performing anytime, anywhere... but I would think that MTV would want her to actually perform the "rocked up" versions of her songs. l8r... On this list we have an angry goddess (Selena), a junior Nietzche (Sean Hooks), a criminal gang (Harris Bros.), and who knows what all those Toms are up to. Fortunately, there are some forces of good on the list as well. There's Rachel, who can perform super-human acts just by changing the colour of her hair. The Wise Godfather of Sarcasm, Igor. And, keeping us humans in line is Fuzzy, the Purple Bear. Protecting our international borders is Alex in Sweden, Helen & Co. in Australia, Michael (the Everyday Arch-Angel?) in Isreal, and Rafa "Defender of Goodness and Foe to the Macarena" in Puerto Rico. Plus many others in Ireland, Guam, oh... and some other place... that country with all the snow and eskimos. ;-) What side am I on? Well.... I'll let you figure that out. And as for what goes on on the list. There's JC and NJC, Jewel Content and otherwise. The JC is because that's what we're here for. And the NJC, just senseless banter. So welcome to the list, venture to add anything at anytime. and, ahh...(wow, six 'a' words in a row!). (..."babes"???) - ----- telliamed@juno.com ### All opinions expressed are yours. Since I'm here in CT, I don't want to call Houston & the Cal stations. But if folks in the respective areas can do this & post, that would be helpful. Please cc the info to me as well as the lists. I also specifically asked about the Java Joes shows that a listmember previously mentioned might be happening this week. Jewel was only" thinking about" doing those shows. Nothing is scheduled there for now. I'll post ASAP if anything changes on this, but don't count on it for now. So there ya have it. Everyone is well. Best wishes to all!
