Yes! I think this is precisely why bootlegs DO continue to thrive (sorry to bring it back up, but you'd all have seen the point anyway, and this way it's out in the open) for many artists. The live shows carry a completely different energy of context. When taken as a single track, even a live one, it just isn't the same. The whole DOES exceed the sum of it's parts, for some of us. There's a certain honesty to a whole show, that allows us to see aspects of the artist the labels (and often the artist) can't (or won't) let people see on an album release. The only thing I don't like about show tapes, is, well, tapes. :( I just find cassettes to be a highly irritating medium. I don't trust CD pressing services, though, for reasons we've also discussed. So, I wait for the day I can afford my own CD-R and a decent sound card, so I can press them privately, and not have to worry about them falling into the wrong hands. Akira (aka Rich)speaks.... I know that I haven't been very active on the list these past two months, and with school, my other commitments, and life, I just don't have time to always keep up to date with the current going ons of the list. But I do read as many of the posts as I possible can before I pass out every night from exhaustion. And usually I have a good laugh or chuckle about the daily going ons, but lately I have been really sad about two things. First I can understand the frustration of the vets when a newbie asks a question that has been debated over a trillion times. Even I have asked some newbies to access the info-sheet on the list instead of asking these past questions. But let us all remember that we ALL were newbies here on the list before and how we felt about not being "in" on all the discussions. Someone on the list always helped us out, so why can't we help the new "newbies" out? I mean isn't this what the list is all about, caring for each another, and isn't that what also sets us apart from all the other lists? Maybe some of the vets should remember how we got started and how someone helped us up instead of putting us down. Second, lately I've been reading alot of negative comments on the list. I for one did not sign up on the list to hear someone spout off about how elite or intelligent they are. Actually that is a huge turn-off for me, and recently I just chose not to read all the messages, not due to lack of time rather because I didn't just didn't want to deal with the bs on the list. I think the LIST as a whole needs a reminder to be RESPECTFUL of one and another. It's so easy to lose sight that this list is accessed by all kinds of people, of all ages, all over the world. Sometimes an indiviual might be a little slow, and that isn't any reason to "promote" you r superiority on the list. We all are equal here, and I, for one, would like the fun and pleasentries to return and the put downs to end.
