I found out last night from a friend of mine at the University of New Hampshire that on 12/3 Jewel will be headlining the WERZ Christmas show. I used to go to UNH but left this year. Too bad, I would have gotten priority for tickets. Anyway, I called ticketmaster to find out if it was true, and it was, and I got tickets. The BoDeans and Nada Surf are also going to be there. UNH has a brand new arena, and it's really nice, it's not general admission though. Anyway, if any of you need info on hotels, or directions or whatever, let me know, I only live 5 minutes away. I mean, it's deadly, kids are getting into it for *very* wrong reasons, it stinks, etc... but oddly enough, I smoke. Not on a regular basis, not necessarily in social atmospheres, but I do. Mostly just when I'm just feeling stress. I think smoking has a very calming effect. That doesn't mean it's right though. Actually I'm quitting so I can save my voice and be able to harmonize w/ my Jewel tapes. JEWEL'S INFLUENCING ME!!!! I love her "IT WAS A LOLLIPOP!!" Anyhow, I'm not for smoking and I'm not against it, but for anyone thinking about it--don't. and for anyone trying to quit--do. you'll save yourself some money on white supremisicts: sorry can't spell--but I saw this mentioned and I remember a Jerry Springer (I was late! Don't blame me!) talk show I watched last night about KKK moms. I was appauled. (I sound like my mom..) I mean, they were teaching their kids to hate! They were abusing their children! One mother said that if their child married outside their race, she would disown them. Jerry read a KKK phamplet (???) about raising your child. It said to put KKK symbols and swasticas (I tried to spell it..) on their 1st birthday cake. Worst of all, they were bringing God and the Bible into it. I'm not a Christian myself (you all know frm my older post) but I know the Bible somewhat. They were saying things like, "If God wanted us to be one race, he would've made us all the same color." I wish I had a transcript of the show or something so I could let you guys hear about everything that went on. It was so powerful. I mean Jerry Springer's a stupid show, but this show had so much hate, I had to sit up. I made me sitting at my house uncomfortable. I guess that's not weird because I can't tolerate prejudice of any kind. I almost cried because those people--their lives are hate. The breed hate. The mentally abuse their kids and don't give them any freedom to choose. They claimed they were just proud of their race, but being proud of your race doesn't mean you're superior over others. Poor kids. I also found out that one of the biggest KKK gatherings is in Howell, Michigan which is right on the way to Detroit from northwest Michigan. I don't know if I'll be going to Detroit anytime in the next 10 years. I hope no one on this list is proudly displaying the Confederate flag... and to Michael Jones whom I love as an EDA very much BUT: how can you say Madonna is not an artist? She's the first thing I ever listened to when I stopped listening to nursery rhymes and Alvin and the chipmunks! She has a beautiful voice and is very open-minded and loving to all types of people which is what's going to make her a fantastic mother. She's also very intelligent. 4.0 in high school. have you ever heard her interviewed? or read magazine interviews? she speaks with great meaning and intelligence. go see "Evita" and then talk about her. No doubt, she'll do a great job. Hey, Madonna and Jewel have a common link! Butttt I won't mention him for J's sake and because I love her as well as Madonna and you guys. jewel's popularity: I can see that guy's side. (sorry man, I forget your name) I mean, I want Jewel to be immensely famous but not famous like--Top 40, Prom play famous ya-know? I don't want people hearing the music without stopping to really think about it and letting it touch their hearts. (which many/most people are capable of) I don't want people to just see it like they would some Celine Dion song. Plus, I too would love to see her in a little quaint bar/coffeeshop in her pure form. I fear that by the time the circumstances are right to see Jewel, I'm going to have to see her in a staduim! I want Jewel's songs to be popular, but also valued. Not one of the posts said they don't care, they just didn't express that they do care. There's a big difference here. I'm heart sickened over the whole thing. I sincere about this too. Human tragedy bothers me. It bothers most people. I know and have met MANY people on this list. They are all full of love and concern for their fellow EDA and all human beings....that is clear beyond a doubt. I counted maybe 5 posts from different people on this matter, and while none expressed it (for obvious reasons....give us a break here) I am SURE all the others are saddened by this and similar tragedies. That is human nature. I KNOW I was. I was also saddened by the very recent floods that killed 2000+ in India. However neither incident ruined my day. Stuff like this happens all the time and I don't consider it de-sensitivity. We are just used to it. I don't have to explain why we are more used to it...that is clear. Sometimes unfortunate incidents like this tragic crash hits close to home. We all know the odds are astronomically against our fears being realized in this, but the fact remains that as of last night, Lenedra's voice-mail message says that she'd be out of the country (i.e. in India) until November 11th. While the unfortunate crash happened on the 12th USA time, who's to say she didn't leave a day later? (Jewel by the way, IS in San Diego, that is confirmed....she was never scheduled to be in India, according to info I obtained from Alan Bershaw.....which we all really knew anyway) It just so happens that EACH of the people who posted about being worried about Lenedra have met her and/or know her. In Richard Changs' & my case we dealt with her alot this summer organizing JewelStock. She's a classy lady that I care for. It's quite normal to be more concerned for her in this case. Like I said, the odds are very, very much against it, but the fact that she was (to the best of our knowledge) apparently scheduled to fly out of there in or about that very time period is a normal reason for at least some concern. What I am saying Mark is this. If a bus crashed and killed 60 people in London, we would all hear about it and likely not give it a second thought. We may be saddened for an instant or two, but that would be the end of it. However, if someone _you_ personally knew and worked with was in London that day and you KNEW they may be riding any bus that day, I am sure you and everyone that knew that person would be more concerned and not rest comfortably until you knew for sure of that person's safety.
